Cleary Bros are currently working for the Department of Defence at Garden Island for the Stage 1 Critical Infrastructure Recovery Program. The project is managed by the Garden Island Bayinguwa Delivery Team, a joint venture between Lendlease Building and PSG Holdings. Cleary Bros are contracted to construct a marine rock revetment consisting of approximately 120,000T of rock from sourced and delivered from our Albion Park Quarry. Construction is being undertaken by long reach excavators building the underwater revetment which is controlled by GPS survey. The coastal flood warning has been extended until 4 p.m. Wednesday and the high surf advisory has been extended until 8 p.m. Thursday. The Mayors Office and the Bristol Water and Sewer Department announced that the City’s reservoirs have declined to below 60 percent capacity from the lack of rain. Due to this, the Water Department has issued Mandatory Odd / Even Water Restrictions effective immediately. The City is now requiring all customers to limit the amount of outside water use and requiring the public to adhere to the Department’s policy on Odd / Even watering days. Odd / Even watering allows for properties with an even street number to water on even days of the month and the same for properties with odd street numbers to water on odd days of the month. Opened in 2012, @millwrightsrestaurant provides a spectacular backdrop to the dining experience, speaks of history and nature. The Hop Brook Mill, built in 1680 and now Millwright’s home, overlooks a sparkling pond and rushing waterfall, visible from the dining room and the deck. In 1679 The Village of Simsbury entered into a contract with Thomas Barber, Ephriam Howard, John Moses, and John Terry, to erect a grist and sawmill on Hop Brook. The partners agreed to keep the mills in good repair, to grind grain for the tolls allowed by law, and to sell to the inhabitants boards at four and six pence per hundred. In consideration of which, the town allowed them the mill privileges, the right to take. Chef/Owner Tyler Anderson feels a kinship with the millwrights who built and maintained the mill’s machinery to refine lumber and process grains for the townspeople. Today we celebrated a significant milestone in the construction of Brookfield Propertiess world class $2 billion mixed-use development at Wynyard, celebrating the ‘topping out’ of the new tower structure and the official renaming of the precinct to Brookfield Place Sydney. With the centrepiece at 10 Carrington Street now reaching its full height of 134 metres above street level, it was a great opportunity to reflect on the achievements of the team since our first tower crane was installed on the site four years ago. The complex works so far include construction of the new Wynyard Station Transit Hall within Sydney’s busiest transport hub, with the building core at 10 Carrington Street starting some 20 metres above George Street to optimise the pedestrian experience. This required huge transfer structures to be constructed above the operating pedestrian thoroughfare, and the erection of the building jumpform some 30 metres above ground level. As we round out our 5-week look at the many ways Chesapeake Cares, we cannot end without mentioning the Health Department. They have tackled the overwhelming task of studying, learning about, and educating the public on a never-before-seen virus while still maintaining their day-to-day services to the public. They kept open their clinics for immunizations and other services. Chesapeake WIC helped restock formula supplies for the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia. Through Healthy Chesapeake, they launched the Feed the Feeders program to make sure those who were feeding our kids were fed themselves. On Friday, the city demolished a block of crumbling row houses a few blocks southeast of my house, in #upton . The community association successfully pushed to transform this blight into a park. It’s thrilling to see open space where there were shells of #vacants beyond repair. *** One of the demolished houses was the teenage home of #cabcalloway , and there was a push to preserve it a few months before demolition. But, as far as I know, there was no budget or detailed plan for this preservation. To those who think the demolition is sad, I say: PEOPLE LIVE HERE. Would you like a block of blighted houses, either boarded up or open, with trees growing in them, festooned with garbage, a magnet for drug dealing (dealers usually don’t hang out in front of occupied houses, at least in my neighborhood) and bulk trash dumping, across the street or a block north of your house? Their eight water tanks throughout the City hold more than 15 million gallons! Water Distribution Team is responsible for all the infrastructure the moves the water from the well sites to over 24,000 metered locations in the City – that’s about 338 miles of water main and 7,000 valves necessary to deliver potable water to your home or business! Wastewater Collection Team is responsible for the 237 miles of sanitary sewer and 10 lift stations that move wastewater from your home or business to our Wastewater Reclamation Facility (WRF). Water Reclamation Team receives and treats as much as 44.5 Million Gallons of sewer flow and sends over 40 million of reclaimed water to the recharge facility each week. The fascinating process removes solids, clarifies and disinfects through a series of tanks and basins. Wetlands and Recharge Team operates the 72 acres of water treatment cells in the Crystal Gardens Wetlands and the Treatment and the four basins at the McDowell Road Recharge Facility that receives between 30-40 million gallons of reclaimed water per week and recharges it in our aquifer where it all began. A number of the UK’s largest housebuilders are furloughing staff as the housing market grinds to a halt in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. Barratt, Redrow, Countryside, Taylor Wimpey and MJ Gleeson have all said they will furlough employees due to the effects of the virus forcing them to close a number of operations. Barratt said it is furloughing “a large proportion” of its employees, due to temporary closures of sales centres, construction sites and offices. The housebuilder is topping up employee salaries, so everyone receives 100% of their income. Countryside said all workers that have been furloughed are being paid 100% of their salary, and confirmed there have been no redundancies. Taylor Wimpey is also in the process of communicating furloughs to staff and will also pay 100% to all staff. Redrow has furloughed 80% of its workforce and MJ Gleeson has furloughed 456 employees, representing 76% of the company. Persimmon said it has not applied for the government furlough schemes for any employees and said all staff currently remain on full pay, whether they are working their usual pattern or not. Two weeks ago the executive directors took a 20% reduction in their base salaries and decided to forgo cash bonuses payable for 2020. Non-executive directors will also reduce their fees by 20% from 1 April. When discipline turns into criminalization, black and brown students are pushed even further into systems that put their education & livelihood at risk. 📖 I was inspired by an awesome post by @dlabeach last week to dive deep into the concept of the school-to-prison pipeline and how racist policy directly contributes to the mass incarceration crisis. 📈 In her book “So You Want to Talk About Race,” @ijeomaoluo defines this term as “the alarming number of black and brown children who are funneled directly and indirectly from our schools into our prison industrial complex.” Reasons behind this include: 🔗 Racial bias, lack of resources, and cultural insensitivity in classrooms & schools 🔗 Black students disproportionately punished through discriminatory & zero-tolerance policies 🔗 Adultification of black boys and girls, making them more likely to be stereotyped 🔗 Criminalized school discipline and the use of SROs, metal detectors, and surveillance creates a prison-like environment 🔗 Black and brown students suspended and expelled at higher rates 🔗 Expelled students more likely to drop out and/or enter the juvenile justice system How can we combat this huge issue? We can start by challenging these stereotypes, discussing these issues in our schools, celebrating black and brown childhood, and supporting organizations that work to end the criminalization of students of color, like the @advancementproject. 📕 This is the last of my 3-post series on Anti-racism in schools, and I hope it’s inspired you to be more active in the lives of underrepresented students as we work towards JUSTICE FOR ALL ✨ - @ohhappydani on Instagram

Another historic house being demolished in our community today at 197 Arlington Avenue. Built in 1898 with a sister house to the left at 195. The excavator had to be positioned as a brace to hold the corner up because it was about to fall onto 195. Nothing protects our older homes unless they have visible original workmanship on the facade. It was all hiding under the vinyl siding. Today the future of commercial net pen aquaculture in WA is on trial. At this moment, Wild Fish Conservancy attorneys are defending wild salmon and the health of Puget Sound in a virtual court trial in Washington Superior Court. At the same time, WA state attorneys are defending Cooke Aquaculture and the continuation of net pen aquaculture in our public waters.⠀ ⠀ Wild Fish Conservancy and our partners are asking the Judge to invalidate Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife’s (WDFW) decision to permit Cooke Aquaculture to transition their banned Atlantic salmon net pens to a partially-sterile form of steelhead.⠀ Background: In fall 2019, WDFW announced they had reviewed Cookes proposal and made a final SEPA determination— a mitigated determination of nonsignficance (mDNS). In short, the agency considered the ecological risks posed by the proposal to be low and easily mitigated, meaning no further environmental review or consideration of the risks would take place. The agency justified this decision by pointing out that an EIS had already been completed in 1990 when Washington first considered Atlantic salmon net pens, an outdated review the agency relied on heavily while making their determination which ignored decades of research demonstrating the very real risks commercial net pens, regardless of the species reared, pose to wild salmonid populations and the greater ecosystem. Additionally, the 1990 EIS did not consider the impacts the net pens pose on the countless threatened and endangered species like Southern Resident killer whales or Puget Sound chinook that have been federally-listed since this thirty year old review took place.⠀ ⠀ While we continue to be dismayed at the degree to which our state agency is working to benefit a for profit corporation with a history of environmental harm and violations in WA, we are extremely proud for this opportunity to defend the health of Puget Sound on behalf of the public.⠀ ⠀ We will keep you updated on the Court’s decision in the days to come. #steelhead #trial #wa #pnw #aqyaculture #accountability #wildfish #protectwildlife #salmon #conservation #advocacy #takingbackoursound @thewdfw @washdnr @ecologywa - @wildfishconservancy on Instagram

The eerie dark orange hues in San Francisco were caused by the blockage of sunlight (the result of the nearby wildfires). The smoke caused a shower of ash and soot in the city. Berkeley and Oakland are some of the other cities who experienced this downpour as well. It is said that if the smoke gets thicker, it will cause the sunlight to be blocked completely.
