Der größte Virus der dich bedroht: Er kam schleichend, hat sich über wenige Tausende Jahre weiterentwickelt, über wenige Jahrzehnte deine Ressourcen ausgesaugt und giert nach mehr. ✨ Natürlich weißt du das es nicht emphatisch ist gleiches mit gleichem zu Vergelten, aber irgendwie muss der Virus-Mensch zum Denken kommen. Muss verstehen das DU die Grundlage seiner Existenz und bestehenden Lebens bist, du bist #pachamama . ✨ Es geht darum dem kapitalistischen Wahnsinn, in welchem rasantem Tempo wir Menschen es gefahren haben - einen Dämpfer zu verpassen, vom Egoismus unserer kleinen Welt hinunter zu kommen - zu sehen das wir alle eins sind u sich profilieren u das Ichgehabe letztendlich auch nur ins Grab führt. “Thank goodness I walked away, because that’s when I finally began my path of healing and transformation.” I worked within the entertainment industry for about 10 years & during that time I couldn’t imagine doing anything else with my life. Performing allowed me to literally get paid to travel the world & it was all so exciting! I was making friends, great money, & actually living my 8 year old self had always dreamed of. But what happened next was more of a nightmare. One night, while away on a gig, and after one too many drinks, I was sexually assaulted by someone I thought was a friend. After the incident, I was a MESS. I wasn’t performing well. Everything felt heavy and dark. I felt unsafe and disconnected from my own body - riddled with shame, guilt, and anxiety. I had no idea how to take care of myself from here and desperately needed a change. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I stepped away from my career, and moved home to reflect and heal. By chance, found a local yoga studio offering a teacher training and I saw it as an opportunity to self-soothe & go within myself for healing. Thanks to my combination of yoga, therapy, and break from the spotlight, I began to finally feel like a new version of myself. But she wasn’t new-new. She is the Maria that I sense I’ve been all along, but she was just buried beneath layers of trauma, stress, shame, self-doubt, you-name-it. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Ultimately found a way to heal from within on a level deeper than I thought possible. Day two was breathtaking. - Leiðarendi, meaning end of the road, lava cave located in the lava fields of Reykjanesfólkvangur Nature Preserve - Silfra Fissure in the Þingvellir National Park lies between North American and Eurasia tectonic plates and continuously fills with glacial water (2°C – 4°C) Hot chocolate after a brisk dip was the perfect ending. @rockynps did not disappoint. Not only did we have these amazing views 🙌🏻, we saw a massive bull elk with several female & a baby right on the trail. The safety rules dictate staying 75 ft away from wildlife — a little tough when the guy just waltzes right into your trail and it’s too crowded to back up that far. Only *slightly* terrifying! 😱 Due to COVID-19, the park is only accepting entries via a reservation system on recreation.gov. We were lucky enough to get one just two weeks in advance, but weren’t able to enter the park until 2pm. Also, it was a 2.5-hour drive away from where we were staying! Happy to report though, that the drive was well worth it even though we could only spend 4 hours in the park. Our short, 4-mile hike was filled with epic viewpoints and we spent the rest of the trip driving around looking at wildlife. Throwback to hiking the Appalachian Trail in the winter as part of the Calendar Year Triple Crown. This may have been the one trail and adventure I set out on that I was truly way over my head. 35 weeks ago, I started @subparparks, and yesterday, I posted park 62 - the last in my originally planned series! I didnt think Id be emotional about this beyond just being excited, but I was on the verge of tears all day. Not because its over (Im going to continue with other park units), but because seeing this complete image with all of the pieces of this series made me realize that wow, I DID IT. Im so proud of myself, which is not something I let myself feel very often. I showed up, every single week, for 35 weeks. Over 500 hours spent illustrating this series (not including the decade spent learning and practicing before this project even started). Countless more hours spent talking to press, prepping files and managing inventory, filling orders, and engaging with so many different people who love the outdoors just as much as (if not more than) I do. The last 8 months have been a complete whirlwind and my life looks very different than it did when I started, and I owe most of that to this project (shout out to rona for the other differences 🙄). Its amazing what can happen with a lot of hard work and consistency, and a little bit of luck. (Ok, a lot of luck, but I have a really hard time giving myself credit for the hard work part). This project has helped me see that I not only CAN do hard things, I DO them. If you told me a year ago what Id be doing right now, Id have laughed at you - no way could I handle that. But time and time again I realize that Im capable of so much more than I initially think I am. Im going to go celebrate myself now. Normally Id add some kind of self deprecating comment because my inner critic starts yelling whenever I talk myself up, but not today. For me, big deer are like Bigfoot - most photos are blurry and the best specimen got away before I could snap a shot. For those who do not prefer blurry buck photos, you’ll see I’ve led with a pretty sunrise. You’re welcome. 💁♂️ So there I was...I packed in on Saturday, Aug 29th looking for the buck I found over the summer named “Mr. Backs.” I spent the next 5 evenings and 5 mornings looking for Mr. Backs as I hung out in this here camp spot. I found him once right before this storm rolled through and he disappeared for the next 6 major glassing sessions. Three mornings into hunting season, I had put a stalk on one buck that was a dandy and realized my stir craziness (and low levels of @backcountryfuel) meant I needed to head to the truck to resupply and regroup. Over the next 4 days, I chased a handful of solid bucks getting to 35 yards with no shot on my best stalk (photo 3). What a trip this was though! I normally am super bummed to not punch a tag, but this hunt was intended to find a higher aged-class buck and pit my wits against him more than it was meant to fill my freezer. Featured Artist - Wang Fanseng (1984) “A Break on the Westward Journey” 2014, Oil on Canvas, 100 x 100 cm Text me for inquiry! In Wang Fanseng famous Mountain Lore, the series inherits the pedigree of traditional tales of oddity. In his wild and weird landscape paintings, his expression seeks to present a scene of doomsday following the destruction of a civilization, and a metaphor for the coexistence of different human natures following the collapse of morality. Wang Fanseng metaphorically points to the following; the repression of human nature by the benign side of traditional culture, which advocates only morality, and the subsequent loss of human subject as the main subject in Chinese painting. That is also why portraits stopped being the principle subject after Cheng Zhu School of neo-Confucianism took over Song ideology. Wang Fansengs major at university was oil painting. This indelible influence in his artistic career is not only reflected in his artistic style but also the materials and techniques used. Traditional water and ink on paper technique have been transferred to the oil on canvas, in which the process, the sense of space on the canvas is intentionally heightened. First, he introduces light into the plane landscape painting, which allows the aerial perspective in Western painting to be used between hills, and also, the wood and rocks created through his unique shading technique fully assume a three-dimensional mass, standing aloft amidst the dimly lit air. The use of the focal perspective completely changes the spatial design of the landscape painting and is more in line with modern visual aesthetics.
