Yesterday we celebrated a great man and co-worker, Paul Rubsam who is retiring after 17+ years as Finance Director at NDP. Paul was given his official construction helmet for his role in making our new Performing Arts Center possible. He was overwhelmed by the generosity of those who contributed to his legacy gift to make sure he can have a little fun in retirement. And he was presented with The Patron Saint Award (normally given at the annual auction, but this year was different). Thank you to all who made this day extra special. Now aged 100, Lance Corporal Peter Heppell was a Chindit who served with the Royal Engineers, attached to 1st King’s (Liverpool) Regiment. He trained in India and fought in Burma. A member of 77 Brigade, he flew into ‘Broadway’ by glider on 5th March 1944 (his 24th Birthday), and prepared the landing strip and lights for Dakotas to fly in the rest of 77 Brigade from the following night. He later fought at Broadway where he was wounded in the leg. After the war Peter worked as a graphic designer for Bowater. He has three children and lived in London prior to moving to Kent. When he retired he kept busy with a wide range of activities including a short spell as an announcer at Kent County Cricket Club. For the past ten years he has supported his son Mark who runs ‘inChoir’, 14 community choirs across Kent, Surrey and Sussex. Il mulino di mio nonno giaceva sul fondo del lago, quasi perfettamente integro dopo tutti gli anni passati sott’acqua. Un sottile strato di fango rappreso ne sfumava i contorni, e io lo guardavo come si guardano certe antiche fotografie in seppia, con un misto di meraviglia e rimpianto. Proprio in foto lo rivedo ora, sfocato, misterioso e negli stessi toni dell’ocra. L’immagine che ho appeso alla parete della mia stanza lo immortala però da vivo, con le pale tuffate nella corrente e un mulo accanto, caricato del frutto del suo ostinato lavoro. Quel giorno, dalla sponda del lago, lo osservavo invece silenzioso e inerte. Mio nonno materno era mugnaio, Mulinèr in dialetto Cadorino. Si chiamava Tabacchi, come buona parte degli abitanti della frazione di Sottocastello a Pieve di Cadore, il mio paese di nascita. Tabacchi Pio Luigi: il nome che ho ereditato. Con i suoi ricordi di bambino, contenuti nella sua autobiografia, Lamore non basta, da poco edita per @giuntieditore, vogliamo festeggiare Luigi Ciotti. O momento é de união e não de caça as bruxas. Podemos observar que a Portuguesa está em uma nítida evolução em alguns setores, já em outros nem tanto. “There are places I’ll remember all my life...” . . My first European Cup Final 1️⃣5️⃣ years ago today! What a night! 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆 . . What a ride that CL season was. I didn’t miss a home CL game that season and only missed two of the road trip games, so I was one of the first to qualify for a ticket to the final. Olympiakos: Needed to win by two goals to qualify for the knock out stages and at half time trailed 1-0, so needed three second half goals! With 10mins to go LFC led 2-1 needing one more - Cue a Stevie G screamer (“What a hit, son”) in the 86th minute to secure the win. No lie when I say I could feel the Kop shaking under my feet from the wild celebrations. . Juventus: Quarter-Final. First time the teams had met since the tragic events of the 85’ Final and the Kop displayed a huge mosaic in tribute to those that lost their lives. LFC beat the Italian giants, comprising of stars such as Buffon, Cannavaro, Thuram, Nedved, Del Piero and Ibrahimovic by 2 goals to 1 . Chelsea: Semi-Final. Chelsea had just been crowned English Champions and had spent a small fortune rebuilding their team with a whole bunch of established stars. The first game in London had finished 0-0 . Without doubt the best atmosphere I’ve ever experienced at a sporting event and one that I doubt will ever be bettered. I made a life long friend pre-game @liverdog1892 who had travelled from Calgary 🇨🇦 for he game. I walked in 45mins early and the Kop was already three quarters full and singing at full voice. The noise was electric and the singing just didn’t stop. The “Ghost Goal” in the 3rd minute won the game to send LFC to their first Final in 20 years. I remember driving back down to London after the game, listening to BBC Radio 5 live in a bit of a haze not really realizing what had just happened, until the host ended his show with “Liverpool are in the Champions League Final” which caused a frenzied banging of the steering at 95mph!! Abbiamo dato del filo da torcere in campionato, poi vinto dallInter anche con diverse polemiche sugli arbitraggi, come nella nostra ultima partita con il Catania. Due percorsi eccezionali dove non siamo riusciti a mettere la ciliegina sulla torta. Rimane comunque un trofeo che ci teniamo stretto. Vincere il campionato sarebbe stato il coronamento di unannata e probabilmente di un ciclo di Spalletti meraviglioso. . Пятый юбилейный экстремальный забег «Сахалинский рубеж» - было жарко. Экстремальный забег «Сахалинский рубеж» прошёл в пятый раз на аэродроме Пушистый. За эти пять лет он многим успел полюбиться и для большинства любителей спорта участие в забеге стало уже традицией. Несмотря на непредсказуемую Сахалинскую погоду, около 500 человек отважились выйти на штурм 33 препятствий и посоревноваться в личном и командном зачётах. Трасса ожидаемо была не из легких, а прошедший накануне ливень дополнительно внёс свою лепту. Как отмечали участники после забега, было очень мокро, грязно, скользко, меньше бежалось, чаще приходилось ползти, лезть, плыть и скатываться. — Уже стало традицией, что на забеге экстремальная не только трасса, но и погода. Трасса стала еще сложнее, препятствий ещё больше, больше водных препятствий, луж и грязи, — рассказал директор центра технических видов спорта Дмитрий Третьяков. — Огромное спасибо 68-му армейскому корпусу, а также и.о. командира корпуса полковнику Владимиру Белявскому. Наше мероприятие проводится в рамках Военно-технического форума Восточного военного округа «Армия 2020». Маршрут пятого Рубежа устилали покрышки, были выстроены многоэтажные конструкции из перекладин, обустроены скользкие мосты, вырыты окопы и расставлены БТР, в засаде сидели военные, которые пугали участников оглушительными очередями в самые неожиданные моменты. Было больше рвов с водой, «полюбившиеся» всеми препятствия «второе рождение», много крутых спусков и подъёмов - в общем организаторы постарались на славу. — Радостно из года в год видеть знакомые лица. Мы уже как семья. Я желаю всем участникам забега дружно стартовать, дойти до финиша. И пусть говорят, что главное не победа, а участие, желаю добыть победу сильнейшим, — добавил руководитель Центра. Лучшими бегунами среди девушек стали Ульяна Добровольская (41:01), Светлана Кузьмина (43:12) и Наталья Львова (43:48). У мужчин сильнейшим стал Евгений Луженков (32:32), серебро уже второй год подряд завоевал Александр Яблочников (33:38), третьим оказался Максим Власов (33:52). #сахалинскийрубеж - @ctvs_sakh on Instagram

#Atlanta 🏟 • Se realizó hoy la inspección general del estadio (a cargo de la #AGC) recibida por el gerente #FernandoRuggiero y #APROBADA luego de encontrar las instalaciones en óptimas condiciones. La inspección consistió en revisar la documentación pertinente para la habilitación del estadio y observar la limpieza de tanques, desinfección, aptitud técnica, mantenimiento eléctrico, seguros y conservación de termotanques.
