You don’t need friends who will coddle you or tell you what you want to hear.. you need people in your life who will constantly push you to be better. ✈️ Flying High! This weekend, we visited The Flying Leatherneck Aviation Museum located on Marine Air Station Miramar. We have visited several times over the years, and enjoy going here for the outdoor space and lack of crowds, even prior to Covid. The boys love looking at all of the airplanes. ✈️ The Flying Leatherneck Aviation Museum is the only museum in the world primarily dedicated to United States Marine Corps (USMC) aviation. ✈️ Leatherneck is slang that refers to the leather collars once worn by marines, and hence the term Flying Leatherneck refers to Marine aviators. 😷 Many changes have been made to the museum to make it safe for visitors and staff. There are temperature checks, a dedicated entrance and exit, one way flow through the exhibit and limited capacity. 👋 Hello! I’m Miguel (23), from Portugal. I joined the MoveU program in May 2019 because of sciatica in my left leg that I had for 5 months. I’ve hurt my AC joint 3 times on my right shoulder, dealt with shoulder impingement, tore my ankle’s ligaments and hurt my back snowboarding. Most doctors told me that the pain would go away on its own or that I should stop lifting and the pain would improve. I went to massage, chiros and the pain would ease up a bit, only to come back the next day. I’ve always been an active, from snowboarding, rugby, handball, bodybuilding, playing drums…I love moving and activity. Now, I couldn’t do an 8-hour shift at work without having to stretch every 5-10 minutes to ease the pain and it would come right back shortly. Suddenly I was, a dude with sciatica at 23 years old. I felt powerless. I found MoveU on IG. I thought they were hilarious and provided amazing content that anyone could implement in their lives. Deep down, I knew it was time to take a step back to re-evaluate myself and come back stronger. I’ve been doing MoveU for 6 months. When I started, I didn’t want to quit working out, now I’m back in the gym making sweet gains. The online community made me realize that sometimes you’ve gotta take a step back to move forward. MoveU is more than just a program, it’s a tool for personal development. There are no shortcuts. Put in the work and you’ll see incredible results. I’ve learned so much about my body and how to move efficiently. I even started dancing salsa! Even though I’ve had setbacks, I never felt alone, and I overcame each of them. Everyone is incredibly supportive. I’m not scared of “pain” anymore. The program (and the amazing muver community) helped me realize that pain is your body telling you what’s up so you can act to improve yourself. There’s so much cool stuff to learn, the future is exciting! I’m back feeling like myself again. I want to help people feel and perform better so that we can live our lives to the fullest. When I was eight years old, I entered a Qantas stamp design competition because first prize was a ride in the front seat of a four seater Cessna 172 and second prize was a seat behind the pilot. I wasn’t very artistic but I was determined to give it a go and I won second prize. Ever since then I wanted to sit in the pilot seat. So began a lifelong passion for all things aviation. I joined Qantas in 1984 on the 747 as one of the first female pilots. I used to get a few peculiar looks from passengers when they saw me walking in to the cockpit. Nowadays people don’t bat an eyelid. I’ve flown the 747 for the majority of my career and am so honoured to be flying our very last 747 to the US. When I step off that plane and say goodbye for the last time, some of that Mojave desert dust might get in my eye. Happy Girls in Aviation Day! C1C Presley had the pleasure of taking Major Joshua Cabo Gunderson up for an acro flight at 6,000 ft AGL and showing him what an aircraft with no engines, fly-by-wire, or super-maneuverability can do! Heres what Sam has to say about the 1946 Cessna 140 with a C-90-12F: It’s spent a lot of its life on floats in the SE Michigan and NW Ohio area. I’ve owned it for 2 years and have flown it about 180 hours, basing it at Goshen, IN. Has a lot of upgrades/improvements, such as Hooker shoulder harness, Cleveland wheels/brakes, LED lights and ADS-B. After flying a desk for the last 10 years or so, it’s a great airplane for maintaining my proficiency and all around fun. I participate in as many Young Eagle events as I can and although I don’t instruct in it, I love to introduce other pilots to the world of grass runways and tailwheel flying - @eaavintage on Instagram
