Super proud to share with you all my first ever music video, for @ziggymarley’s #WorldRevolution ft. @samuillkalonji! Directed, shot and edited it all myself (actually Ziggy helped shoot a couple clips). Also my first attempt at using #AfterEffects, so all the animation you see (there’s a bunch more in the full video) is just me YouTube-ing how to do stuff and then diving in frame by frame. I wanna say there’s probably 500 some-odd hours of editing in the thing (*sigh* 😑). It’s a little rough, but for some of it that was kind of the point, and for a first try I think it came out pretty solid. Also was cool that @applemusic picked it up for an exclusive and helped promote it within their platform. In a statement to Media, The police said that it is pleased to announce a Cycle Race, “PEDAL FOR PEACE”, scheduled to be held tentatively on September 27, 2020 on Boulevard Road. In honor of the 15th Anniversary of Katrina, Maha Chielo aka @spookybadbxtch is hosting a virtual event to reflect upon the lasting impact of Katrina and fundraise for Hurricane Laura survivors. This will be a time for Black New Orleanian artists to talk about growing up in New Orleans, their experiences with Katrina, and the ways they imagine art can preserve history and shape the future of their city. They will also discuss ways to increase access to resources for Black artists in New Orleans. Since many tourists and artists visit New Orleans for business and pleasure, we invite people near and far to join us and hopefully foster a better sense of community and understanding between visitors and Black New Orleanians. We believe its important for people to know the history and context of the city when they visit, and Katrina is a big part of its current state. The panel will consist of Maha Chielo, @bmike2c, @phillipmyoumans, and @dawnrichard. Well also have a musical performance by @mykiajovan. Monique Thomas, Managing Director of @imaginewaterworks, will speak about the work she is doing to provide relief for #HurricaneLaura survivors. @stephaniemckeeanderson, Executive Artistic Director of @junebugnola, will provide closing remarks and share a film about New Orleans. My love for this instrument, started when I was 15. Growing up in a broken home with both my Mother and Father absent, the Panyard was my outlet to decompress. I use to walk 4 Miles everyday to and from band practice just so I can learn music, rehearse, and even pick the brains of the senior members so that I can perfect my technique as a player. Last week we mourned as we were told twice that Black lives simply do not matter. First on Monday when Dion Johnsons murderer was not held accountable by our Maricopa County Attorney because she was worried holding George Cervantes accountable would ruin his life. Then on Wednesday when we were reminded Black womens lives do not matter either, when Louisville told us that Breonnas white neighbors walls would receive more justice than she would. Both of these Black people were killed while sleeping, and in both cases ameriKKKa said Black lives do not matter regardless of the circumstance. Here’s the backstory: Clint Eastwood and General Saint’s 1983 remake of “Stop That Train” for Greensleeves was a breakthrough success for the emcee duo and for the classic Jamaican song they covered, landing them a coveted television appearance on the Dutch program TopPop and a number 4 spot on the Netherlands pop charts. The song’s success in Europe also owes to its popularity in Ibiza’s Ku Club, the resulting balaeric beat cache, as well as prominent a place in Julian Temple’s Glastonbury documentary film. It was a top 100 pop single in the UK in 1983, also catching on in Belgium and Germany. “Stop That Train” traces to an obscure ska single by the Spanish Town Skabeats (Winston Jones’s Spanishtonians), then to a rocksteady remake by Keith & Tex, and most prominently to Scotty’s toast on the same backing track, “Draw Your Brakes,” found on the soundtrack to the film The Harder They Come. Este Acuerdo nace del mismo impulso del que nace la Agenda 2030, la Conferencia de Naciones Unidas sobre el Desarrollo Sostenible (Rio+20) en 2012. La Agenda 2030 es una agenda cuyo objetivo es cumplir al año 2030 con las 169 metas de los 17 Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible (ODS), tratando transversalmente objetivos como la Pobreza (1) y el Hambre (2) hasta la Producción y Consumo (12) y el Cambio Climático (13). El Acuerdo de Escazú – nombre proveniente de la ciudad donde fue adoptado – cumple la función de vincular a los países en su rol de garantes de Derechos Humanos. Este acuerdo entiende que la vida se desarrolla sobre la tierra y que para que cualquier forma de vida prospere, necesita de un medioambiente sano sobre el cual cultivarla. Y lo hace desde 3 pilares fundamentales: derecho de acceso a la información, a la participación y a la justicia en temas medio ambientales, además de buscar garantizar la protección de quienes defienden los territorios – en la región más peligrosa del mundo para hacerlo. La gara si svolgerà infatti in una sola giornata, per la durata di tre ore consecutive e come sempre con mare grosso, come nella migliore tradizione della spiaggia della Marinedda. Many of these revered musicians and craftspeople have structural impediments including the digital divide and language barriers to access federal relief funds or private sources of funding. In response, a group of organizations led by the consortium non profit CATCH (Center for Art, Tradition, and Cultural Heritage) and including City Lore, the Center for Traditional Music and Dance (CTMD), Bronx Music Heritage Center (BMHC), and the Folk Arts Program of the Brooklyn Arts Council have established The Folk Arts Relief Fund. Now, I realize my wildest dream of providing young Malagasy people with opportunities so that they can serve others, grow personally & professionally while being matched with volunteering opportunities across the island, discover Madagascar in a pretty different way, be challenged and improve skills while experiencing new things was DEFINITELY worth it.❤️🇲🇬 . Starting OwC alone in July 2015 was not a piece of cake for me, but i did not quit because I absolutely wanted to make this wild dream come true for our lovely Madagascar. I was in the fight by myself, and to be honest, I struggled. March 2018 was memorable to me though because it was then you all came to my life. Together, we agreed to register OwC as a nonprofit, and ever since, I have felt like the burden in my back has gradually lifted because then, I was not alone anymore. Hence, our dear One Way for Change became official. 👊💪 . 2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣0️⃣ It is high time I gave the opportunity to another OwChanger to lead One Way for Change. I have faith the future president of OwC will move OwC higher. I was NOT a perfect leader. I did give so much of my time and my all in our cause because I loved everything about it, but still I messed up and I failed so many times. For Monday Memories we go back TrassPassa in Venezuela in 2015! Great memories were made when a team comprising Prof. Donna Hope @donnaphope, Orville Xpressionz @orvillexpressionz and Cindy Claes @cindy_claes were invited to Venezuela by the British Council to share about dancehall with an eager group of young people and their supportive family members. The term is a play on the word Passa Passa and also a Spanish term for beyond borders. TrassPassa was the brainchild of Kimberlyn Tarache @kimmy.tb and supported by a wave of Venezuelan dancers and others interested in Jamaican culture. The series of events took place with the support and sponsorship of the British Council in Venezuela. A series of lectures and classes on Jamaican dancehall and dancehall dance and choreography were hosted over a one-week period (May 25-29). We share a few memories of some of the activities at the Teresa Carreno Cultural Complex in Caracas, and a dance event at Parque Cultural Tiuna el Fuerte. They are building a mine to extract copper from which will basically wipe out the entirety of each of the pictures taken. Meaning the grandchildren of my generation will not have access to witness the beauty. Man has decided to again rape the land of her resources not considering her children, her plants, her waters, her animals will be destroyed and poisoned. Mother Earth is tired, she will retaliate. It is our duty and privilege to work with her and protect her. I pray for her in all the sacred directions that we as a humanity do better. See what is important! It’s not about the superficial things, it’s about the connection to the earth, to the people. Listen to the animals as they are the symbols and messengers of her voice. **NOTICE** . Hi Guys! Thanks for all your work so far in maintaining a high standard of cleaning and sanitising within the gym. We appreciate every bit of help you guys have been giving us to make the gym a safe environment for all of our members and day pass visitors. . We have some changes to our sanitising procedure to keep you all updated about. We are sure you all have noticed the large volume of blue roll that we are going through during the day. In an attempt to cut down this non-recyclable waste we will be replacing blue roll with cleaning cloths. . Step 1: Take a cloth when you enter the gym. This cloth will stay with you during your session to wipe down equipment before and after use. . Step 2: We will be leaving the spray at all our stations as normal to use with theses cloths. . Step 3: When you are finished your session place your cloth in the ‘Used Cloths’ bucket as reception for us to wash and have ready for another time slot. . Step 4: ENJOY A CLEAN, SAFE ENVIRONMENT!! . Diveraneando CAJE trajo muy buenos momentos a niños y a adolescentes. Excursiones, convivencia, talleres, deportes y una visita sorpresa. @imsebastianstan pasó un día con todos los participantes CAJE, conociendo la labor del @ColectivoCAJE, explicada por el grupo de adolescentes y guiándole por el centro donde teníamos el campamento base. Sebastian pudo conocer cómo las niñas y niños Caje aprendían el uso adecuado de las nuevas tecnologías, el peligro de las redes sociales a través de juegos y dinámicas. Les escuchó y ellos pudieron preguntarle sobre su faceta de actor, su lugar de residencia o sus gustos. El grupo de adolescentes le hizo una entrevista como periodistas de @cibercorresponsales. @imsebastianstan les contó sus aspiraciones, sus próximos planes, sus recomendaciones de películas para ver en grupo. Sebastian Stan es un actor americano conocido por sus papeles cine y televisión , sobre todo en películas del Universo Marvel como el Soldado de Invierno, pero también por su sensibilidad por las causas sociales. En este caso, su acercamiento a población infantil y juvenil en situación vulnerable demostró que sus superpoderes son de verdad reales al dedicar su tiempo a compartir momentos tan especiales para chicos y chicas del @colectivoCaje Hoy es su cumpleaños y desde CAJE queremos enviarle nuestras felicitaciones. Para llevar a cabo el Campamento Urbano nos regimos por la guía para la organización de Actividades de ocio y tiempo libre de la Comunidad de Madrid en el contexto de la pandemia Covid 19 y los protocolos de actuación Covid 19 de medidas higiénico sanitarias en espacios cerrados municipales del Ayuntamiento de Alcalá de Henares. La visita de Sebastian se gestó en mayo, participando en nuestro campamento una vez pasada la cuarentena preventiva y habiéndose realizado el test pertimente. El equipo educativo de CAJE cumplió en todo momento los protocolos con todas las medidas de distancia social, uso de mascarillas en todo momento, toma de temperatura y desinfección continua de manos y espacios comunes. Weve said: Indigenous people make up 5% of the worlds population and protect 80% of #biodiversity. The Western environmental movement must decolonise conservation to mitigate the worst effects of the climate and ecological collapse. Fortress conservation is a white supremacist act. Indigenous-led conservation is the only morally, scientifically and practically viable way. Indigenous people are the world’s original conservationists, existing before the word did. The most effective way of addressing the climate and ecological collapse is to join the #LandBack movement, decolonising environmentalism, while actively resisting colonial conservation. Indigenous-led conservation is better than colonial conservation in these areas: BIODIVERSITY: Indigenous-led conservation is proven to have equal or higher biodiversity than protected areas in Brazil, Australia and Canada, and in Turtle Island, Ojibwe territory, higher tree volume, regeneration and more plant diversity. DEFORESTATION: In Abya Yala, which means Land in Bloom in Guna, so called South America, deforestation rates were 2.8 and 2 times lower in indigenous lands of the Bolivian and Colombia Amazon, respectively, than outside. IMPACT: In Turtle Island, Mikinàk in Algonquin, or so called North America, Indigenous-led conservation is more effective: on programs in Dehcho territory (K’ehodi) and Dene territory (Ni Hat’ni), every $1 invested in the programs deliver about $2.50 of social, economic, cultural and environmental benefits. Indigenous resistance is vital to the survival of humanity, biodiversity and land. Conservation should be about protecting the Indigenous cosmovision from neocolonial globalisation. And yet, organizations like @wwf, in an assessment by the UNDP, continue to fund green violence inflicted on Baka tribespeople in the Congo. We have provided the world, been erased out of history, escaped of slavery, integrated & protested and continue to be murdered & neglected by humanity - we have endured so much. As a light skin black & queer person I had the privilege of studying in an Art Institute and by having to do so I faced a lot of institutional anti-black racism and queer erasure. I felt like a clown smiling my pain away on a daily cuz I was forced to study here and had nothing to grab onto to save me from the violence - I don’t want this for anyone; we need decolonization and KetiKoti...! and that’s why I’ve been fighting in activism ever since. Now years later I am a more prominent figure in activism and with the platform I’ve build I’ve been doing everything that’s in my power to uplift my community. Think of providing platforms, providing paid jobs & exposure & representation as well as taking a step back myself as to make space for others. As our Black & Queer community in The Netherlands we carry a variety of stories of our fight in a White Supremacist system, I think it’s time that we connect all the dots and organize ourselves against this system of oppression and manifest a future of Healing & Love. In doing so we got to stay conscious of our collective story and this cold ass system. We can change the world by starting with decolonizing The Self and build safe spaces and communities and by connecting these safe spaces and communities to one another, it all lies in building. We ourselves know that we MATTER, but society tells us systematically that we don’t, but we deserve to matter and to feel that we matter, to be celebrated, represented and to lead. Yesss MATTER is just the BOTTOM LINE. Como activistas medioambientales de ONG NATIVOS, expresamos nuestro descontento absoluto ante la determinación del gobierno de Chile, el cual ayer 22 de septiembre del presente año ha decidido no firmar el ACUERDO DE ESCAZÚ pese al movimiento de más de 21.500 personas y 230 organizaciones de todo el país. Este acuerdo planteaba garantizar la implementación efectiva en América Latina y el Caribe de los derechos de acceso a la información ambiental, participación pública en los procesos de toma de decisiones ambientales y justicia plena, contribuyendo así a la protección del derecho de cada persona, de las generaciones presentes y futuras, a vivir en un medio ambiente sano y con un establecido desarrollo sostenible. Apoyamos el comentario de Matías Asún (Director Nacional de Greenpeace Chile) ‘’se confirma que el gobierno del presidente Piñera ha engañado al país haciéndonos creer que los temas medio ambientales están en el centro de su agenda. No es ahí y hoy queda ratificado con la intervención del Canciller Andrés Allamand.´´ Como ONG NATIVOS vemos que el gobierno chileno parece nuevamente darle prioridad al sector privado privilegiando el bien económico por sobre la protección de nuestro medioambiente. ¡Queremos más transparencia y mayor eficacia de una vez por todas!
