FATHERHOOD ATM This is how I’m feeling right now about being a DAD. ♦️Flo is at a stage/age now where she is radiating such affection towards me! It warms my heart so much and just makes me giddy when she comes up out of nowhere to give a hug. ♦️It’s a big deal for me because early on in her life, she was so dependant on Mumma, and despite all the love, care and attention I gave her, it often seemed as though she was indifferent towards my presence most of the time. ♦️But now I feel the love from her so often. When I come home from work and see her smile it lights me up no matter how hectic the day was. ♦️I feel so grateful right now for this connection and the love in our family. Life isn’t always smooth, so I give thanks to the universe for the opportunity to experience ALL OF IT. ♦️To all the Dads out there doing it tough in the early stages of fatherhood, changing nappies and sleep deprived. I say keep going strong. BAKING DAY D is for Dinosaur Biscuits 🍪🦕🦖 We joined in the #alphabetchefs challenge running over August and yesterdays recipe was bikkies 🍪 Our first-time making cookies. We usually stick to cupcake recipes with a less firm batter thats easier for Bubby to mix. 👨🍳Our mixture was a little bit too crumbly so I had to do the rolling and cut with the cookie cutter. This left Bubbys hands free to eat the dough while I was busy rolling 🤦🏽♀️ 🦕Bubby stamped Dino feet into the bikkies with his toy dinosaurs. Some he stamped too hard and left holes 😂 some too soft and left no impression and some were just right 🙌 They were really really yummy 😋 the recipe has only four ingredients and will be a recipe well use again. Now this is something special. Over 20 years ago there was something called the Y2K and my dad bought a few supplies much like they’re doing now. but instead of buying pallets of toilet paper he just bought this one package for a family of four. He was in his shed and he found it today. couldn’t believe how good of shape it is in and what a great time to find roll. These were some of the simplest, yet most stressful times in our marriage. When ever klai would say our family prayers she was ask “pwease hewp us to become debt fwee” We had just closed our retail business of 7 years, started a new venture and had $60k in business credit card debts due to the transition. It was a super stressful time but the outdoors were free, and would bring us together and taught our kids to push through rough trials. I am so grateful for these times and lessons learned but also grateful that they had their time and place in our past! Mine and @rachbennett ‘s history is filled with good ole days and bad ole days.
