I am beyond excited to finally release to you: Orna 🌹 Orna falls in the realm of display typefaces influenced by Art Nouveau and Blackletter Calligraphy, all while emphasized under a contemporary light. The condensed letterforms, wedged latin serifs and star-shaped tittles act as contrasting modern elements to traditional design practices. The blend of rich Rotunda influences and intense Art Nouveau curvatures allows the strokes to pour into their distinctive spaces. The fluid strokes compliment the firm letterforms, like ornaments — allowing Orna to lead with intensity and whisper allure. Orna not only visually acknowledges the history of Typography, but also pushes the boundaries of what typographic conventions can be. Over the past few months, I found myself un-learning and re-learning the important things in life — battling societal constructs, dismantling racism and sexism, standing up for inclusion, decolonization, the list goes on; but also on a minor level — type design! I’m beyond excited to finally share with you my finished typeface: Ascentis ✨ Ascentis falls in the realm of display typefaces, inspired by Neoclassical letterforms & sprinkled with a contemporary twist. The serifs and contrast between thick and thin strokes pay its respects to Neoclassical typography. Yet the experimental terminals and serifs offers a stinging sensation; while the intense, deep curvatures allows the letterforms to melt into their respective spaces. This fusion of sharp and smooth, historical and modern, creates an emphasized edge to Ascentis’ fluidity and unconventional character. Ascentis not only visually acknowledges the history of Typography, but also pushes the boundaries of what typographic conventions can be. Link: https://ringsofneptune.bandcamp.com/releases INFO: Rings of Neptune is an independent Label, Booking Management & A/V Production Agency based in Paris and Berlin, born from the on-going collaboration between Rotate and Pluie/Noir over the past half-decade. We represent an international roster of performing and recording artists, with a particular focus on the electronic-music spectrum and its intricate sonic diversity. To celebrate our debut, we gathered all our artists and challenged them to create music unbounded by genre-specific constrictions. Interstellar Travel Guide is a two-part compilation featuring the agencys 24 artists, and showcases a versatile array of music ranging from spoken vocals & ambient drones to exploratory techno. Volume I is the compilations most experimental part, assembling 12 compositions of calm, awe-inspiring moments fundamentally aimed at contemplation, and meditation. Volume II will be released shortly after and will gather tracks from the other side of the spectrum, exploring rather beat-driven arrangements. Interstellar Travel Guide is exclusively available on Bandcamp in both digital and limited-edition cassette format. In solidarity with recent protests against police racism and brutality, and in honour of the Stonewall riots of 1969, well also be donating our revenue during the next two months to black-, trans- and queer-led anti-discrimination organizations committed to long-term systemic change, political education, and engagement within the communities such as NAACP, Black Visions Collective and Queer Refugees Germany. - @tine_nitz on Instagram
