this is something that has really been on my heart lately.. i’m so tired of “christians” thinking they are better than another person (specifically non-believers) because of whatever self righteous views they may have of themselves. Jesus loved every single person the same, regardless of any mistakes that person has made, but whenever a non-believer comes to church or does something around a christian that isn’t “of God”, we look over to judge them. Statement by Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation in Response to Grand Jury Verdict in the Breonna Taylor case September 23, 2020 -- We are completely disgusted and outraged by the indescribable decision that has been rendered in the murder of our beloved, Breonna Taylor. Here we are, yet again, a Black life that has been dehumanized at the hands of the police in cold-blooded murder; has no value in a criminal legal system that is supposed to protect it. We send our love and condolences to Breonna’s family who has to endure the painful reality that they may never receive justice because of the brutally racist system all Black people are subjected to. “I am completely enraged that our criminal legal system has failed Breonna Taylor, her family and friends, and frankly, it has failed our country. We will not give up in this movement. We are going to continue the work that we have started in the name of Breonna Taylor and countless Black lives cut short at the hands of police terror, systemic racism and white supremacy. Why I became a Public Health Nurse: My pathway into nursing started in a small clinic in Jamestown, California. I watched the nurse practitioners provide exceptional care that met their patients where they were. The clinic also ran health programming from diabetes to Hep B education in the lower level. I consider myself lucky to have had the opportunity to intern with this clinic because it showed me how rural healthcare could and should be carried out. My summer internship in Jamestown motivated led to an internship in Montana the following summer with an Indian Health Service clinic. Between these two experiences, I learned so much about the healthcare system. Shortly after graduating from Kenyon College, I took a job with an American Indian and Alaska Native epidemiology center in Seattle to continue to explore public health. While in Seattle, I started to formulate what my dream career entailed. While a lot about my career trajectory has since changed, I have always known that research and clinical medicine were non-negotiables. I am kinetic and love to interact with patients. These interactions inform the programming I carryout and help me identify what the communities I work within need. While the majority of nursing school was focused on acute nursing roles, I thrived and was happiest in my Community Health course. I was also one of those nerdy nursing students who loved learning about Florance Nightingale, Margret Sanger, and Mary Breckenridge. I understood how their public health focus had transformed our public health system. I may not be the next Florance Nightengale; still, I hope to implement policy change and innovate within our healthcare system to make sure that we have the public health workforce and infostructure to care for our communities inside and out of the hospital. Ive always been a systems thinker, but I also need to have patient interaction to be fulfilled-this This is why I went into nursing instead of getting my MPH as a stand-alone degree. The Weatherman Relay had very good coverage of this years Score Baja 1000! How we have been able to get better coverage is do to the efforts of a crazy ass friend WeatherMex. This guy comes down to Baja in his spare time and figures out ways to put our antenna higher every year. He has anchored a Tower in the rocks on the highest Peak and built a pulley system to erect the tower and then telescope up some poles. We have to guy it up and it held up great in all the crazy storms we had this year. Putting it up in the snow was tough, taking it down in the wind has been tougher. We ended up dropping my Late Fathers Best Antenna off the side of a Mountain but were able to retrieve it by the coax. The take down of the Relay is not the fun part, but what makes all this work worth the effort is knowing that we helped many Crush the Baja, I never knew why my Father would do such a thing for decades and he did it so long it was expected and just became part of the race and part of the Baja. I now understand why, helping keep you guys safe and in contact with your family and friends makes me feel like part of the Baja I have learned to love. I also have to add tracking the class 11 cars all day and the race going on between 1121 and 1113 was exciting to watch and seeing that Bochito made it to the finish line with 10 minutes to spare made this Relay one of the best ever! I would like to thank those that work just as hard as the Weatherman Team and those are Score and its Volunteers and Support Staff, they just keep getting better! Mag 7, these guys truly are Magnificent and a big help to the Relay. Baja Pits our eyes in some of the most remote places! BFG the best Tires, and guys who tirelessly help us to communicate in the toughest conditions in Baja! I would like to thank the spectators as well that help us on the Relay and you all have been getting better about being careful with the stuck Mics, we had very few problems at this race. Good afternoon everyone! Today for our feature we have a very dope mobile photographer by the name of @tahaphoto this dude is from the Great White North and is definitely holding it down for our northern IG community as far as were concerned! Peep @tahaphoto for consecutive Dopeness! Photo Description: I grabbed this shot while crossing an east end bridge in Toronto. Since the skies were overcast and it was quite early in the morning, the headlights stretched nicely down the tracks. I also wanted to catch the train while it was in mid turn. Editing Process: Shot with my iPhone4s native camera. Brought into Cameramatic for contrast and warmth. One final bit of editing in PicFX to keep that dark city feel intact using two of my favourite PFX Film settings (pfx15 & pfx400) Location: Taken in Scarborough, located in Toronto, Canada. 10 minute walk from Victoria Park Station. IG Bio: I joined Instagram in April of last year, and have been really into mobile photography in general for the last two years . I love shooting street photography, architecture and nature. My style comes more from how I edit/post process my images than from the subjects I shoot. In 2011 I put together a photo book shot strictly with my iPhone entitled My Eyes, Your Thoughts. Laura & I had an incredible day co styling a photoshoot where we showcased pieces by Cuban designers & artists that I have collected during my travels.
