Pemerkosaan digunakan sebagai instrumen penyiksaan ketika menginterogasi perempuan tentang keberadaan suami mereka yang diduga berafiliasi dengan Organisasi Papua Merdeka (OPM). Pusat Internasional untuk Keadilan Internasional juga melaporkan banyak kasus pemerkosaan yang dilakukan oleh Komando Pasukan Khusus (Kopassus) di sebuah desa di sekitar tambang Grasberg. . Kekerasan seksual digunakan untuk meneror penduduk asli Papua Barat sampai mereka tidak punya pilihan selain melarikan diri (biasanya ke hutan) untuk menghindari brutalitas aparat. Kekerasan seksual menjadi salah satu metode untuk mendorong penduduk asli meninggalkan rumah dan tanah mereka. Lahan yang ditinggalkan oleh penduduk asli tersebut kemudian diserahkan kepada pihak berwenang Indonesia untuk kemudian diserahkan kepada investor asing. . Kekerasan seksual terhadap perempuan asli Papua untuk melancarkan perampasan lahan demi kepentingan pemodal adalah salah satu contoh bagaimana patriarki, kapitalisme, rasisme, imperialisme, dan kolonialisme bekerja sama untuk memperparah penindasan terhadap perempuan. Maka dari itu, penting untuk diingat bahwa feminisme bukan gerakan yang menuntut reformasi sosial (kesetaraan laki-laki dan perempuan) belaka, melainkan penghapusan dominasi secara menyeluruh. Bersamaan dengan patriarki- kapitalisme, rasisme, imperialisme, dan kolonialisme juga perlu dihancurkan agar tidak ada lagi penindasan. Feminisme adalah gerakan pembebasan dari penindasan berbasis gender yang memiliki keterkaitan dengan kapitalisme dan rasisme. This very sweet woman (a nurse) first came to my office in 2018 to find out about how to improve or get rid of eye bags. Back then I suggested surgery but she wanted something without downtime and I suggested fillers but explained they would only give her about 50% improvement because of the fat pad size. So she thought about it for a while. For 3 years. Things got in the way. Work, moving homes, family, etc. 3 years later and she was still thinking about the bags. We did the filler. 2 different types of filler. They are at least 50% better. The lower lids got a little bit of an upward lift. The dark circles are less. We still live in a covid world. My wheat-hued mother used to tell a story about how, when I was small and ready to nap I said to her: “I’m glad you and I are white and Dawn (my sis) and Dad are Black.” Or maybe with something bit more sinister: like watching my 5-foot-8 father be pulled out of his car because he ‘matched the description’ of some 6-foot-3 bread thief, and also for no reason at all. I’m never quite sure where to begin. The summer has been hot and sticky with grief. And even while the air hangs a little heavier and the days tumble by, the fires that burned at the start of the season have cleared space for a newness that always follows a deep scorch. Black Voices. In this summer of discontent, I believe that my blackness has never been more valuable than it is right now. As I prepare to write this, I am starting to feel emotional and tears well up in my eyes. 😢 - I’m here to share my experiences of a particular treatment. Between 2001-2010, I tried and tested most treatments on the market for Vitiligo. It was a painful process because every time I did a treatment, I would always give it 100%. Mostly always, I was left feeling disappointed, deflated and depressed. - Looking back, I realise my anxiety perhaps was a huge barrier that stopped treatments from being able to work efficiently with my body. However, the steroid treatment I did was the most successful for me and I would like to share this with you today. - I was introduced to a private doctor (in the U.K.) who had cured vitiligo patients with a course of tablets, steroid injections and light treatment. I started this treatment with a close friend of mine @gurds27 whom I met through the amazing @vitiligosociety 20 years ago. We spent so much energy, time &money on this treatment when finally around 2009 we both decided we had enough. Even though both of us had progressed massively (after 2 years I i was 90% brown again!) it was utterly exhausting mentally and physically. Although I saw amazing results I still was not happy. - What followed after was highly distressing and I rarely talk about because this was the one treatment where I did see results. Shortly afterwards, I discovered I was pregnant and had to stop treatment anyway. Was this a blessing in disguise? Looking back yes it was! My Vitiligo didn’t spread thereafter but immediately after I gave birth, my Vitiligo rapidly spread. - I really believe everyone has a choice and over the last two weeks have learned that some treatments 𝒅𝒐 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒌 for some people. This is an epidemic!!! Black Trans women are getting killed at disproportionately high rates and no one is doing anything about it!!! If we are going to continue to say Black Lives matter it is imperative that we make sure Black Trans Lives are included in that same convo. This makes me sick to my stomach to live in a world where Black women are not safe. Where Black Women are getting killed and not receiving justice. Black Women deserve so much better. This can’t keep happening. I saw a post that said the average life expectancy of Trans women is age 35. All of these women were murdered before they turned 35. Can’t ya’ll see there’s something wrong? I’m just not sure any donation to any organization is going to fix this problem. We need to continue to be loud about this and talk about this every chance we get. We as Black people need to check up on Black Trans women make sure that they are safe because just doing day to day activities is not safe for them. Not just caramel or light skinned clients but those with rich chocolate complexions. Clients are looking for artist whose clients look like them💁🏾‍♀️ ⁣ ⁣ Dark pigments will always pop on lighter complexions because the contrast is so stark.⁣ ⁣ My advice to any client looking for a PMU artist, find someone whose clientele looks like you! Ask lots of questions. Ask for additional pictures as well. Voice your concerns. If it doesn’t feel right, don’t book🙅🏽‍♀️⁣ ⁣ p.s.
