I’M NOT LEAVIN 😤 • Four years in a caption if you care to read it! For me, joining Flywheel was a liberation from investment banking and an introduction to New York City. I met, worked with, and learned from four of the coolest and smartest people I‘ve ever known (hello friends @bizandboomer @betsyhbrandt @palmersbray and @seemikeyc). I got to build an insanely cool, sabermetrics inspired data analysis toolkit and get paid for doing it. I eventually got to leave finance entirely and work just as hard partying on a bike with the toughest kids in town. And I guess I fell in love with a pretty cool girl along the way 😏 • All of that led us here! Where we are right now. Mid-pandemic. Figuring out our fitness together. Losing something so familiar is surely sad, mostly for how it represents what this crisis has taken from us. But our community was never going to be constrained by a brand! That’s why I started making silly merch with my fake name on it last October, and that’s why we’re still bringing the virtual bangers and digital bops every day but Friday. One of South Jersey’s best summer surf events, The Chip Miller Surf Fest, would typically be today. This would have been its 17th year but due to obvious COVID-19 restrictions the event had to be canceled to ensure everyone’s safety. While the Chip Miller Surf Fest could not go on this year, we want to honor the tradition by keeping it alive in some capacity and are happy to announce that South Jersey Board Riders is in the process of planning an event next month in Ocean City where the Surf Fest usually takes place. This past week made 1 year from the time my @crossfitaffiliates @cffullboresouth hosted our first @drillweekends event. The bottom picture shows the strong CrossFit community that came together for one cause. At that moment I knew the founders had something special that would make an impact to serve those in need. I would not have imagined then that I would decide to marathon paddleboard across Lake Pontchartrain but here I am a year later about to use my @crossfit training to take a hobby I loved and turn it into a marathon for a cause I whole heartedly feel needs our attention. My cause is @destiny_rescue, an organization that rescues and restores children from sex trafficking. These children have had their innocence stolen from them and they can never get that back. That breaks my heart for them as I have been given the gift to watch my children grow from that innocence into the woman and young man they have become.
