My teeny tiny heart. My absolute everything. 💕 You and your sister are my whole world, including your papa, and I would do anything for you. Our little family has had a tough last month.... with neck sprains, freak accidents, and now a stroke of the spine (or FCE, if you want to google it). 😣 I have cried for and about these precious girls probably four dozen times. Probably 15 times alone in the last 48 hours. Their pain is my pain. Their fear, my fear. Their confusion, mine too. 😢 We are deeply connected... to the point where I question the sanity of getting attached in the it first place. But that’s the whole deal in life— if you don’t love, you don’t get hurt. But if you don’t love, you don’t live. I won’t go into detail today, but I will just say terrifying, random things happen all the time. Sometimes in the same few weeks. Acute injuries happen. Your dog can be thriving and playing and sprinting down the hallway one second and unable to stand the next. Cherish every fucking second you have with them and kiss them every day and let them kiss you back. ♥️ Today both of my dogs can stand, walk, pee, poop, and have great appetites. This is all i need to be happy. It’s a huge plus that their distinct and hilarious personalities still shine through and they express their mood with their sweet buggy little eyes. 🥺 They are my whole heart. I am not religious, but I will tell you this— miracles keep happening. This chick had a stroke two days ago and is relearning how to walk and she’s fucking killing it. Coffee had a huge fall in a terrible accident and walked away without so much as a bruise or a limp. Our vet continues to amaze us. Our world continues to swirl. And we continue to do whatever we can for these two. Because their beautiful souls are worth it. We never understood why people called us heroes when we adopted them. They were clearly such a catch, it didn’t make sense. 🥰 But we understand now. It is definitely brave to adopt senior dogs. It is definitely a risk because you know you’ll be heartbroken sooner and more often than most dog parents. It is definitely not the easy choice.
