Today, I celebrate four years cancer free!! Unless you’ve had cancer you may not understand what a cancerversary is to a survivor. It’s a point of reflection for what was and how far you’ve come. I celebrate because I’ve been given the gift of time, I celebrate because so many I know have not been given time, and because so many continue to endure their cancer challenge. There is no good cancer. Regardless of where it is, it is an unexpected journey that you are thrust into and turns your expectations of life upside-down. And yet, there is a gift that you receive,....to embrace how precious life really is and to move forward never forgetting the wake-up call that you’ve been given. Every day as I take my three medications, I am reminded of my journey to today, and grateful for the one that lies ahead of me. Sure, thoughts always loom about.... if, when or where cancer might return. That’s the blessing- to inspire you to live life to its fullest.
