John Burns was an elderly citizen of Gettysburg on July 1, 1863 that grabbed a musket and fought with the 150th Pennsylvania near the McPherson Farm and then with the 7th Wisconsin at the edge of the Herbst Woodlot. During the Union retreat, he was wounded and lay on the battlefield until early July 2. Union Lieutenant Frank Haskell, also present for the battle, wrote of his brief contact with Burns. Today a dream came true. Since I first discovered freeride and big mountain skiing when I was 16 or 17, Ive been dreaming of landing a cover on one of the big American ski Magazines. When I now see my shot of Joel Pollinger at the cover of FREESKIERs Buyers Guide its hard to believe Ive made it. Great job in front of the lens Joel! It took ten years to realise this dream. It felt almost impossible in the beginning since the dream was so big. I was still in high school and lived far away from the real mountains. But when I finally broke away from school I thought I might have a little bit of chance. It has been a lot of hard work tho reach here. But what I will remember the most from this journey is all the great people Ive met. The cute old couple in Zillertal and their perfect maintained home which I and Victor stayed at for 4 weeks in 2013. The very entertaining group of people I lived and skied with in Kicking Horse 2014. The intense trips to Hemsedal with CAS during my years at Chalmers University. All the drama I experienced with the people I lived with in Champoluc for 8 weeks in 2017. The athletes Ive worked with at FWT 2016-2018. And of course all the Swiss people Ive got to know in Davos and Engelberg in the last couple of years. And also, I cant describe how grateful I am to all people who have helped me on the journey. All skiers working hard on the mountain, all editors who have chosen to work with me and all other people supporting me in any way. As always when reaching the destination after a long trip full of wonderful memories, I realise the journey itself has been the most memorable. This makes me eager to chase new goals, because I know there are so many people out there I want to get to know and so many things I want to experience before I finally get too old for this. - @a.adolfsson on Instagram

I had a chance to visit this little gem of Portland history and shoot a piece for @eater - link in bio. The 100+ year-old company is the oldest tofu shop in the country and only recently sold outside the family to new owner, Jason Ogata, who is working around the clock to master this handmade process and learn what he can from the remaining Ota family.
