Oh Simeon!! 😢So pleased I got to work with @simeon.cox. When I booked a tour for The Silver Apples in 1997 it was booked as a fixed show with The Azusa Plane and Windy & Carl. Azusa Plane couldn’t make it in the end and so the two bands did the European tour and I did a limited tour split 7” in green vinyl which became the first release on Rocket Girl. Simeon also contributed a track to the Rocket Girl 20th anniversary release. It was the opening track and i felt like we’d completed a circle of twenty years together. I saw them live many times and at several Terrastock festivals. I cherish those times and thank Simeon for supporting the label and being a large part of my musical history. We were privileged to work with a phenomenal spread of artists from around the world for this collection, and the resulting album is more cohesive than I could have ever thought. What started as an homage to Ernest Hoods 1975 joy in reminiscence morphed into something all together its own. Proceeds will benefit @anhdnycs Center for Community Leadership, one of NYCs longest running organizer training programs. То, что мы можем посмотреть и вспомнить - а как оно вообще было-то ) У нас ведь есть потрясающий дар - глядя на фото вернуться на мгновение в тот день и рассказать о нем тысячу историй. Кто-то скажет, что это «зависимость от смартфонов» (немного даже прозвучало голосом среднего возраста, не? Не слышали?) Но я листаю альбом молодости моей мамы или бабушки , а телефонов тогда не было, и все они фотографировались везде у каждого памятника! Так это и сейчас происходит! «Сфоткай меня пока я молода и красива, чтобы было что в старости вспомнить» )) Так что, похоже, фотографироваться везде заложено нами девушками генетически) Суть в том, что фоткаться это потрясно! Примерять на себя разные образы - потрясно! Получать внимание команды на площадке, слышать заслуженные комплименты и потом получать восхищенные комментарии - вообщееее потрясенее потрясного. Slip-up VS relapse. Let’s talk about it. ⠀ There’s been back and forth in the community about the word relapse. ⠀ First, let me point out that the word relapse shouldn’t be seen as a dirty word. ⠀ It’s just that the two terms “slip-up” and “relapse” are different. ⠀ Let me help identify the differences for you! ⠀ 𝐒𝐥𝐢𝐩-𝐮𝐩: This is when someone has a one time or very brief slip of using the substance they were in sobriety from. ⠀ For the most part, after said person slips, they go straight back into recovery. Sometimes this even strengthens their sobriety. ⠀ 𝑺𝒍𝒊𝒑-𝒖𝒑𝒔 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚 𝒔𝒉𝒐𝒓𝒕 𝒍𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒅. ⠀ 𝐑𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐩𝐬𝐞: This is when you turn a slip back into active addiction. Aka, falling back into old patterns and substance abuse habits. ⠀ Back before I stuck with getting sober, I relapsed a few times. Which means I went back to my old habits and substance abuse. This lasted months to a year. ⠀ 𝑻𝒉𝒂𝒕’𝒔 𝒄𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒆𝒅 𝒂 𝒓𝒆𝒍𝒂𝒑𝒔𝒆. ⠀ Let’s say you decided to have a drink/a few or take some MDMA the other night. Next day you realize that wasn’t what you wanted and immediately return to your recovery. ⠀ 𝑻𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒘𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 𝒃𝒆 𝒄𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒆𝒅 𝒂 𝒔𝒍𝒊𝒑-𝒖𝒑. ⠀ I want to spread education about these two terms because for me, and I’m sure for many others, a relapse is part of our story and that’s the term that exactly defines it. ⠀ On the other hand, some don’t identify with the word relapse, they had a little slip and have jumped right back on track. Several productions on labels around the globe came out during the time of his studies at the Buenos Aires music production school where he teamed up for the duo: Jaramillo & Bastien. Their music was released by Labels like Kling Klong(DE) and Limonada Recs(FR). From 2011 to 2014, he managed Shake Collective, promoting electronic music events in his hometown Cuenca, Ecuador. This gave Daniel a relevant place in the local music scene and the chance to present some of the finnest artist at the moment such as: Alex Arnout, Jonny Cruz and Simon Baker among others. Since 2014 Jaramillo runs along his wife Daza the project called Drop, an electronic music brand that promotes local events and serves as a booking platform for both artists. This satellite photo of our planet by NASA shows the wildfires on the west coast visible from space, nearly 1 million miles away from earth. I’m angry, sad, anxious, and numb. I’ve tried to write my thoughts out the past couple of days but I’m honestly running out of emotions, and these days I feel like a broken record talking about the climate crisis. I’m pissed at fossil fuel companies for lying to the United States for decades about what they were doing to the climate, and I’m angry that the burden of stopping climate change has been put on young kids and everyday people instead of the companies and shareholders that caused this. I know I’m putting this out into an echo chamber since a lot of my followers already agree with me, but if anyone you know thinks we have any more time to spare, or that our society has any room for incremental change when it comes to stopping the climate crisis, please share these slides with them. Tell them to VOTE for the one presidential candidate in the U.S. that has a plan to solve this crisis. I don’t mean to get all doom and gloom on you (I have some positive, solutions-based work coming soon💡), but I think a lot of people still don’t understand how severe the stakes are. We will never be able to bring about the solutions we need if we don’t know the full scope of the problem itself. Now is not the time to shrink ourselves in fear and think small. We have to continue to be brave. I’ve tagged a few organizations above that you can get involved with to help turn you or your friends from passive supporters for climate justice into *active* supporters. There is something about live music that can’t be said or written down, and sometimes a pale reflection of it can be captured in a recording, but at its core it’s an exchange we have with each other that *only* exists in the moment it’s actually happening. It comes and goes. I’ve been saying the words “I miss playing shows” over & over again in the last 6 months. But yesterday I realized that what I’ve really been saying is: I miss the mysterious exchange that happens when humans experience music together in a shared space. I miss the underlying awareness we all have that the show will come and go before we know it, so we all become more intensely present than maybe we’d normally be. I miss the invisible container we create for that hour or two. I miss the socially acceptable public vulnerability of live music. We all have permission to access and express emotions that we normally wouldn’t outside of the safety of our homes/therapist couches/meditation cushions. I’ll always be in love with live music and I could rant forever about it and never come close to capturing its actual magic. I’m just so grateful to have been able to experience it again with you yesterday. Zeit, das zu ändern, denn die tagträumerischen Songs des in Deutschland geborenen Musikers sind nicht nur für Philip ein Medium, seine persönlichen Erlebnisse zu verarbeiten, sondern bieten auch für HörerInnen ein extrem hohes Identifikationspotenzial. Ich schreibe Songs über Probleme psychischer Gesundheit, verrät der Wahllondoner dem englischsprachigen Celebrity-Magazin „CelebMix“, „meine anhaltende Geschlechtsidentitätskrise und das Gefühl, dass ich immer viel zu viele Dinge auf einmal empfinde. Erst vor kurzen gibt der Sänger bekannt, dass er sich als nicht-binär, also weder ausschließlich männlich noch weiblich, identifiziert. Seine aktuelle Single „i’m so i love with all of my friends” entsteht Anfang dieses Jahres, in der Zeit des Lockdowns. Philip verbringt diese schwierige Zeit in Deutschland bei Verwandten im ländlichen Raum, der ihm die Freiheit gibt, sich nahezu frei zu bewegen und Zeit zu finden, um an Songs weiterzuarbeiten. Für „i’m so i love with all of my friends” haucht der Künstler einer Demo aus dem Jahr 2019 wieder neues Leben ein und schreibt einen Song, der sich mit platonischer Liebe beschäftigt: „Das Gefühl, in den letzten Monaten sowohl emotional als auch körperlich von meinen Lieben distanziert zu sein, hat mich dazu veranlasst, darüber nachzudenken. Das Schreiben dieses Liedes hat mir geholfen, zu manifestieren, dass es in Ordnung ist, Menschen platonisch tief zu lieben.“ Der verträumte Track lebt von rhythmischen Drum-Pad-Schlägen und der jugendlich-sehsuchtvollen Stimme des Songwriters, so dass er einem sanften, eskapistischen Charakter erhält. 🎧👉 Link zum Musikvideo in unserer Bio! - @diffusmagazin on Instagram
