The progression of my hair, during the summer, at a wedding, a saga. . . 5 Jahre Selbstständigkeit waren bisher wirklich eine verrückte Reise. Sie haben mir alles abgefordert als ich mit schwerem Herzen zu einer Traumhochzeit nach Mallorca geflogen bin während mein Mann zur Chemotherapie im Spital war, als ich wieder einmal ein Projekt verbockt hatte und nicht wusste, wie es weitergehen soll, als ich alles losgelassen habe, was ich mir aufgebaut habe um endlich das zu machen, wofür ich hier bin (zweimal). Ich habe mit Sicherheit nicht den kürzesten Weg genommen und auch nicht den einfachsten. Rückblickend frage ich mich, warum ich es mir so schwer gemacht habe. Aber das musste alles sein, damit ich in diesem Moment meine Lektionen lerne. I could write a literal book about this trip.... so much time went into planning, preparing, and organizing this shoot just for everything (yes, everything) to go the OPPOSITE of “according to plan.” the rain, the fog, the timeline, all of it. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ we originally allotted for close to 5 hours of shooting time throughout the day and ended up with about an hour total instead. the fog was so bad we could barely see three feet in front of us to drive and when we got to the location it monsooned, causing us to have to get rid of some of our original set up. on top of all of that, we woke up at 4:30am the next morning (because of all the complications the day before) to hike for a sunrise shoot just for the fog to get the best of us... again. and it covered any view there might have been. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ despite the struggles, all the stress, and all the changes we were still able to get some AMAZING images of Kayla and Benji (who are absolute rockstars and seriously the coolest pals EVER might I add) and honestly had such a blast laughing about it all. the photos are toooo good, so I’ll be sharing sooo much more of these two and all about this day, but for now enjoy these three photos that bring my heart joy 😌 - @signahartphotography on Instagram

Hey y’all! I just realized I’ve never properly introduced myself on here, and I’ve got quite a bit of new people who are following along recently- so hi,👋 I’m Aline! We’ve come a long way baby. From a teeny tiny spare bedroom on the third floor of my Philly home to a team of 7 creating garments for folks around the world, so much can change, so quickly. (Swipe to see some pics from our current studio to our very first studio). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ A few days ago our three year anniversary came and went without my fanfare (honesty. I forgot!). That first year in business was a terrible disaster. I had no idea what I was doing (some days I still don’t know what I am doing), I couldn’t figure out how to make a sale, and I wasn’t a strong enough sewer to sew full time. In early 2018 I realized that if I wanted to make this work I needed help, and I needed it ASAP. So with my last few dollars I hired my first person, Abby, and they are still with me to this day! I quickly learned that building a phenomenal team and a strong community is the surest way to building a successful business. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This year has been a hell of a trip (if you’d told me my third year in business I’d have to battle a pandemic, I don’t think I would have started!) But you all have stood by us, supported us, and extended endless patience to us. For that, I am sincerely grateful. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I’ve been the face of Alice Alexander since we started back then in 2017, but what I’ve learned since starting, and even more so this year with Covid and closures, is that team and community is everything. Can we all just take a moment here and give a massive shout out to the lovely and talented @judithhillphoto ❤️ This past month she accomplished an unbelievable feat of photographing over 80 women in the @keepabreast Nashville Collection. We had 3 full shoot days + 3 make up days. And she’s STILL accommodating schedules in hopes of capturing everyone in the show. I keep saying she had no idea what she was getting into when she said yes to this project. I hope she’s had as much fun photographing all of us as we’ve had with her. Yesterday I had the daunting task of photographing her with her gorgeous cast. I can honestly say I was soooo nervous. After 3 days of driving I finally made it to my favorite place on Earth - Colorado! Seeing the landscape transform from my Blue Ridge Mountains to rolling hills to cities to prairies for as far as the eye can see and then suddenly into the staggering Rocky Mountains is an experience I’ll never get tired of (except for the 5 hours of never ending corn in Kansas - that’s another story). 🤦🏼‍♀️ I’m so dang happy to be back in Colorado - I fell in love with this place the first time I visited, and I seriously think about it every day. This past week has been full of so much heartache, fear, anxiety, and stress as the #dolanfire grows over 22,000 acres and threatens to burn down our home and community in Big Sur. We were mandatory evacuated from Partington Ridge last week as we scrambled to load up our car with essentials, clear and prepare our home, and leave our possessions, furniture, and memories behind. . . We wish we would have stayed longer, helped to cut more trees and brush, and dug more trenches—but we are beyond thankful for the tireless efforts of the @bigsurfire brigade, the Hotshot Firefighters and Strike Teams from near and far, airplane/helicopter pilots, and all of our brave neighbors who stayed to fight for their land and homes... 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 . . We are forever grateful to @shelbyhawthorne and @bigsurandrew who have opened their home to us and our pup so we have a safe place to stay—-and to our amazing family and friends who have reached out and offered non-stop support throughout this nightmare! 💗💗💗 . . A huggggeee thank you to our firefighter groom who came down from SF to do fire clearance around the property we live on during the week of his wedding—this act of kindness will never be forgotten @keeganqbarry . . California is on fire, our hearts go out to all of the victims who have been displaced, lost homes, and are going through the same emotional turmoil. We wouldn’t be getting through this without our community coming together in so many ways. Hiii it’s me, Kate! Wanna know something funny about me? I was that girl in high school who wore wayyyy too much eye makeup and didn’t really care much for camping or hiking. If you knew me then, it’s okay to laugh lol I look at photos from high school like dang girl did you really need that much eyeshadow for English class? No freaking way. 😂 • I can still remember my dad being like ummm honey why do your eyes look like that?! At the time, I loved it. I thought it looked great! Now I stumble upon super hilarious photos of Calder and me with smeared waterproof mascara allll over my face while swimming in the reservoir... 🙈 • Anyway, I’m not really sure where that changed and I dooo still love my mascara but somewhere along the way I have found myself embracing “me” a bit more. Good ole natural me. It feels GOOD. Sure I still put a little makeup on for these headshots because it made me feel good, but I don’t rely on it to define my appearance and I don’t try to hide behind it anymore. • All I gotta say is YOU DO YOU. Be yourself. Whatever that means for you. If you love wearing makeup and getting dressed up, go for it friend! If you’re only wearing it because you feel like you to have to, I encourage you to show that beautiful face of yours. • On that note (kinda) I had a TOTALLY different outfit planned for these headshots... something I would honestly never wear to a shoot and it just didn’t feel like my vibe... my sweet new friend @jessicabillingsphotography was like, so what you would honestly wear for an elopement? I am NOT perfect. From the outside, my life could look pretty perfect. From my feed on social media it probably looks like I have my life together, I travel the world whenever I want and I have a million clients knocking down my door. NOPE. I scroll through this app DAILY thinking those same things about everyone I follow. “There life is perfect” or “They must never struggle with money” or “They book dream clients and have their crap together, why don’t I?” or the wonderful “I wish I had their life.” We must STOP IT. So I am calling it out to you now - my life is messy, its hard and it is NO WHERE near perfect. I cry, a lot. Sometimes I hide in my closet when I am upset. This year I got off of anxiety medicine just to get right back on it. I cried and fought with Aaron almost everyday of our first month of marriage. I sometimes hate my body and how God made me. I am not even halfway booked for 2021 and I brought in pretty much $0 for almost 6 months in a row this year. I struggle DAILY with anxiety and listen to the devils lies more often then not. I struggled with moving and getting married during COVID because I didn’t get to say bye to any of my friends. And I worry about money every month. I also have debt, get pimples, PMS OFTEN & don’t have my future figured out past next weekend. I am not perfect. But I don’t have to be and neither do you. I perfectly curate my feed to look pretty because it is my job - but life is not a highlight reel. It is not perfectly placed pictures and memories with no bad days or messy houses. It isn’t happy smiles all the time. Instagram only shows ONE side of our lives, so why do we compare ourselves to someone else’s highlight reel? I struggled with this A LOT this summer and I am just done. Comparison is the thief of joy and I like my joy, I want to keep it so I am not going to hand it over and trade it for comparing myself constantly. YOU can do the same - live your life, ENJOY it, and then don’t come on an app to compare it with someone else’s to see if it’s good enough. It is good enough - its YOURS, and no one else has your life. It is beautiful and wonderful and all yours. Tag all the people & spread the love ❤️ - @meglaymanphotography on Instagram

Ich weine wirklich bei JEDEM Liebesfilm - deswegen bin ich vermutlich auch in der #hochzeitsbranche gut aufgehoben 🙏 Tatsächlich ist mein Lieblingsgericht PIZZA – auch wenn ich versuche mich sonst sehr gesund zu ernähren. Ich liebe es morgens früh erstmal eine halbe Stunde im Bett liegen zu bleiben und zu kuscheln. Der Ausgleich zu meinem manchmal sehr stressigem Alltag ist die Natur – ob laufen oder spazieren gehen – Natur zu atmen ist unbeschreiblich und entschleunigt mich enorm. Menschen mit Ecken und Kanten, mit vermeintlichen Fehlern – mag ich, denn wir sind doch alle nicht perfekt, oder? Ich trinke lieber ein kühles Weizen als Hugo oder anderen „Süßkram“. Das Leben – und alle Momente die dieses für mich bereit hält, versuche ich stehts und immer positiv zu reflektieren, das macht mich freier und die Welt in meinen Augen bunter. Ich bin am liebsten #barfuss unterwegs- auch wenn ich Füße generell nicht mag 😆 Ich bin mit wilden Delfinen im indischen Ozean geschwommen – WOW. Und REISEN, so viele Kulturen wie nur möglich kennenzulernen und zu verstehen ist sowieso eines meiner größten Lebensziele. I am from the South of England and was raised in both England and Japan (my mum is Japanese). 2. I currently live in Perth, Australia. I spent 9 years living in New Zealand, 2 years in Sydney and now we are in Perth. 3. My current favourite colour is a peachy, coral pink. 4. My middle name is Michiko. 5. I won an art prize at primary school for drawing a section of the Bayeux Tapestry in crayons 🖍 6. I have a large notebook collection. 7. I dislike blue ink ballpoint pens. 8. I studied textile design in the UK and specialised in weaving. 9. After graduating I worked as a textile designer in Shoreditch in London and then as a textile design tutor at a university in New Zealand. 10. I like: coconut ice cream, cats, winters. 11. 🌟EXCITING ANNOUNCEMENT🌟 After having talked about ‘Book 3’ for a while now, I am very excited to be able to share more details with you... THE ISLAND will be published by @orionbooks in June 2021! For the first time I have left London behind and headed to a wild and windswept remote Scottish island as the setting for this novel. It tells the story of two women, Lorna and Alice, and their teenage daughters Ella and Molly. Lorna grew up on the island but when she was a teenager turned her back on the place and its people for good. Alice is the sister-in-law she has never met, a yoga teacher and a pillar of the island community. Over the course of one summer old secrets will emerge and relationships will be tested and formed as Lorna returns to the people and place she once left behind. It’s a book about families, friendship, community and the meaning of home. If you’ve followed me for a while you might remember that over the past couple of years I visited a remote Scottish island myself - and in fact it’s where I got engaged! Well those trips inspired this book (swipe right for some pictures I took on my visits). If you enjoyed my previous two books then you’ll recognise some similar themes in this one but it’s also a bit of a change for me - a progression I hope. align. refine. energise. 💛 these were my goals when I deleted social and put my out of office email response up a few weeks ago. My mind and body felt crowed with noise, filled to the brim with self-imposed expectations and internal chatter that interrupted flow and ease. I needed to get out of my head and grounded in the energy required for presence, curiosity and stillness. I’ve been away (offline and out of town) for over a week and have a renewed sense of energy and the hint of a shift to come. Expansion feels near, and I know that requires letting go of something (or multiple things). Eliminate the non-essential to illuminate the vital has become my mantra. 💛 I’m excited to get back home and behind the camera! The boldest thing I’ve ever done was pursuing a life path that was completely reliant on something I was wellllllllll...not great at. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Photography as a skill did not come naturally to me. I tried it on a whim in high school because I thought it would be fun, and it got me out of an afternoon of back to back science classes. I quickly fell in love and recruited all my friends to be models - but I sure as shit wasn’t destined to be the next Annie Leibovitz ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But at 18 I had all the confidence of someone who had never really faced the harsh realities and responsibilities of adulthood so all it took was one (overly kind) person to suggest this was something I should pursue, to make me reconsider the life in teaching I had previously been destined for. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Did I know that I wasn’t the best photographer? Yes. Did I care? Apparently not. Why? Because I loved it. It was exciting, and I was passionate and decided that was worth the risk of failing miserably. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I took a chance on myself despite everyone around me telling me to reconsider & choose something more stable. While there were definitely times then (and now) where I was in way over my head and considered walking away, I chose to trust the gut instinct of 18 year old Ash and keep pushing forward. And LOOK - here I am 12 years later living the dream she was ballsy enough to chase. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ So next time youre scared to try something because you think youll be bad at it, or because everyone else is telling you its a not the best idea - ignore it, ignore them and go with your gut. Be stubborn and ruthless in your pursuit of the things youre passionate about. So, you have a business or just recently started a business. You’ve made a website, a FaceBook page, an Instagram account. Now you need some visuals that will catch the attention of your consumers and community. You’ve got lots of questions and you’re not sure where to get them answered. Here are some common worries or questions I get asked before delving into a branding shoot, and my answer for why you don’t have to worry! • “I don’t know what branding photos look like for me” Have no fear! All of my new branding customers have to fill out an intake form, and often benefit from meeting for coffee ahead of time to learn a bit more about you and to brainstorm some ideas. You tell me who you are and I’ll tell you what pictures we’ll take to capture that! • “I’m not photogenic” Everyone is photogenic when they’re comfortable! A shoot with me will feel like catching up with a new friend. Hi there! You might already know a bit about me, but many of you are new around here so I thought I’d introduce myself more directly :) . I grew up in small town KS and began following Jesus a week before graduating high school and He changed all my life plans. I knew the week I was saved that my whole life from that point forward had to be centered around sharing this Good News I’d just learned about. I went and tried normal college, worked in ministry and started filming weddings while finishing college in the least traditional way. . In May of 2016 met my wife, @lizrudman. I started dating her in May 2017. And married her in December 2018. It’s best decision I’ve ever made. . I’ve been making films full-time for ~5 years now. Liz and I travel all over the world to document people and we love everything about it. This year I began educating other videographers and focusing more on ministering to my fellow men. I got it at garage sale for 50 cents!” and someone else was like “you shouldn’t say that so loud...”. nowadays it’s the cool thing to do and it’s considered vintage and someone would respond “no way, that’s so awesome!!!”.
