It was a 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐥𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐝 visit to @fanexpovancouver with kiddo in tow this year. Shes a budding artist, lover of anime, comics, cute things and the look on her face when she got to sneak in with the VIP crowd was nothing short of elated. Weve been working hard with her and her anxiety. She often compares her art to those around her so the value of Artist Row at Fan Expo Vancouver wasnt lost on us. She was able to wander up and down the aisles, watching each artist draw in their element and take in how different their skills all were, but also how many people enjoyed their work. She got to meet one of my favourites @camilladerrico, whos won me over with her Hero & Villain bee series and A also ended up picking her own up and the Beehive book! Combine this with an epic family zone, endless shopping, panels and more, we spent an entire day soaking it all in! We ended our super full day with an @epicphotoops meet & greet with a few of the actors from Battlestar Galactica, not going to lie I was half tempted to Cricut myself a few cylon signs! Naturally, As new friend Sushi that she picked up at one of the makers also made an appearance in our photo. Were already counting down to next year and you can to! They are always thinking about buying from locals first. “Designer Op Shop Emporium is a collaborative boutique of 12 small businesses here in Canberra. From vintage clothing to a boutique perfumery to vintage homewares, we work with a wide range of Canberra creatives. Were just one big family – not only do I work with my mum, but our vendors stay with us long-term and feel like family. “It was challenging at first with the whole COVID situation. In Canberra, we are super lucky – everyone is super supportive. We did close for a month, but during that time we managed to build an online store. Now we can sell outside of Canberra as well. “Our first Saturday back open – the weekend before Mother’s Day when people were first allowed to shop for non-essential shopping was just incredible. The difference from a few weeks ago when we were seeing one person every five hours to seeing lots of smiling faces at once is wonderful. “We have beautiful Australian made hand sanitiser for use at our doors and bathrooms. People are distancing throughout – we’re lucky that the space is quite big so we can have up to 100 people here. Our new little Havana is settling in very nicely and Harmony is doing a wonderful job. She is a very calm mum. Can you see the traingle/heart shaped marking on their foreheads? It is one of the first things we look for in this family of cows. Right back to Havanas great grandmother - they all have it. Some are just more full than others. Its been another very big week here on the farm . A new arrival is always a lot of extra work, but is also so much fun to watch her exploring her space & interacting with the other calves. We have had the gang from The Lakes College (Youth off the Streets) here again learning how to plant container gardens & how to reuse veggie scraps to grow food. This week our son hung out with the students as well, which was so good to see. We had our Home Delivery run, went to Avoca Beach Farmers Market & today will have folks picking up their orders from the farm gate. A huge thanks to all of our wonderful customers. We love partnering with you all in this farming adventure! ❤ Our piglets are growing so quickly & just LOVE their milk each day. We are going to be putting up our School Holiday tour dates this weekend - so keep an eye out for them so you dont miss out. We always sell out of School Holiday tours so quickly. Today, whilst admiring how fast one of our paddocks is growing for this time of the year, we spied in the distance several fluffy white babies……..further inspection revealed 5 ewe’s, each with twins! 🐑 Cheeky possums took it upon themselves to find a paddock all on their own in which to deliver their babes. And a fine job they did!……. 🐑 So slowly, ever so slowly, we walked the mamma’s and their babes back to the safety of the house paddocks. They are now happily settled into the mums and bubs paddock…… 🐑 And from happy sheep, comes the loveliest of cheese!……we have just released our August cheese box, pictured here. We have over a months worth of different batches of Carolina Moon aging in the ripening room right now. Currently we are making around 400 wheels a week. It takes about ten days for the cheese to develop its fuzzy white rind, at which point we wrap them in cheese paper and continue ripening. The rind, breaks down the paste of the cheese over time and lowers the acidity of the cheese, making it creamy, rounded and flavorful. . We allocate the ripest cheeses for our Markets and Wholesale accounts, with the assumption that they will be enjoyed within the following week. For our Distributor customers we send them out younger so that they have a longer period to get the cheeses from A to Z. I have been making this type of cheese for 16 years now. Used to make it from goats milk : Sofia in the States in Indiana, Tymsboro’ at Sleight Farm, Driftwood at Whitelake and with lots of encouragement and care from my hubby we are finally making my most preferred type of cheese ourselves. DGC Ontario Picture Editor Paul Winestock received his first Emmy nomination in the category of Outstanding Single-Camera Picture Editing for a Comedy Series for his work on @schittscreek. We caught up with Paul ahead of the Creative Arts Emmys virtual broadcast happening all week. . How does it feel to be nominated for your first Emmy for Schitts Creek? . I feel a bit of disbelief about my nomination, and absolutely thrilled. My episode is competing with some fantastic shows with fantastic editing talent... and somehow Im in their midst?! Humbled, to say the least. I received an email from a wonderful editor I have never met competing in a different category, saying how much he loved the show. I felt immensely proud of my work and of course the show and very grateful for his email... what a nice gesture! . What makes “Start Spreading the News” a stand out episode? . The challenge in editing Schitts Creek is blending the heartfelt moments with the comedy and still keeping the scenes feeling natural. revor, Dan, Eugene and I worked closely to bring this to fruition. This episode is where most of the characters find closure and the actors gave so much emotional depth in their performances. So, in this episode, it was that much more challenging to find balance between the pathos and the comedy. Dan and Eugene never did comedy just for yuks; if it broke the honesty of that character it wouldnt stay in the edit, so the comedy had to come from a natural place. Also, as with most episodes of Schitts, one of the challenges was figuring out - amidst all the gold - what to trim out in order to get to the Broadcast 1/2 hr. . What is the most rewarding thing about editing Schitts Creek? . Every day was hard work and rewarding, knowing that we were making a great show as good as it can be, without compromise. Roboczy tytuł mojej książki był „Życie w cholernym raju”, bo opowiada o innej perspektywie życia w miejscach przez wielu uważanych za raj. Opisuję w niej również jak umiera się w raju. Książka sama się nie napisała. Przez rok na Malediwach ciężko pracowałam: pisałam, czytałam, szkoliłem warsztat pisarski. Teraz wspólnie z wydawnictwem codziennie ciężko pracujemy nad ostateczna wersja tekstu. Sjerps liet weten goed op de hoogte te zijn van de activiteiten van de Brummense club enthousiaste zwefvuilrapers. “Samen zorgen we er voor dat onze leefomgeving schoon en veilig is”, aldus de wethouder. Al enkele jaren is er in het dorp Brummen een groeiende groep vrijwilligers actief onder de naam Brummen Zonder Zwerf Vuil (BZZV). Deze werkgroep is verbonden aan de Dorpsraad Brummen die samen met de gemeente de vrijwilligers ondersteunt. Eenmaal per maand gaan de vrijwilligers op pad, voorzien van een herkenbaar hesje, handschoenen, prikstok, vuilniszakken en de speciale ‘afvaltrolley’. Diverse gebieden in en om het dorp Brummen worden dan ontdaan van zwerfvuil. Hoewel er in september al afval geraapt werd, grijpt BZZV vandaag aan om hun flyer aan mede-inwoners aan te bieden. “Vandaag is het ‘Wereld Schoonmaakdag’, een uitgelezen dag om het goede werk van onze groep bevlogen vrijwilligers onder de aandacht te brengen. Via deze flyer en een persoonlijk gesprek hopen we dat meer mensen zich bij ons aansluiten,” vertelt Paulijn Snijders. “Maar een echt schone omgeving bereiken we pas als er geen vuil meer op de grond gegooid wordt!”. De flyer toont treffend hoe lang het duurt voordat bepaalde afvalstoffen door de natuur zijn afgebroken. “Je schrikt er van als je weet hoe lang dit duurt.” Wilt u zich, als betrokken burger met hart voor ons leefmilieu, aansluiten bij onze werkgroep? The pandemic has brought about difficulty in all aspects of businesses with logistics, supply chains, and anything else under the sun.
