想像以上の反響…ありがとうございます😭 . ここ最近はもうこの決断を受け入れて生活していたのですが… 引退を表明することによって私自身がやっと引退を実感し始めました。前回の投稿も『シェア』のボタン押すのに相当時間かかってしまい…押したら終わりなんだなぁって。頂いたコメントを何度も読み返しては涙がポロリこんにちはすることも。 . 結果的に短期間の復帰になってしまい、結局何だったのか？と考える事もありました。でもチャレンジしたからこそ、妊娠して出産して「あーもうバスケはいいや！お腹いっぱいだわ！」と終わらず、「バスケ楽しい！最高！」と幕を閉じる事が出来ました。これは本当に幸せな事で、そう思わせてくれた環境や仲間、そしてバスケットに感謝しかありません。 . それに、復帰して日本代表として活動する毎日は本当に夢のような日々でした。使命感やプライド、闘争心をバチバチに背負い、ただただ戦う事、勝つ事だけを胸に日の丸をつけていたかつての私ではなく、ストンと肩の力を抜いて全体を見回し深く息を吸って…新しい自分として日の丸をつけることができたと思っています。 . これも全てチャレンジしたからこそ得られたものだし、改めてたくさんのファンの方々に愛されながらバスケをしてこれたんだなと実感いたしました。 . コロナがなければ今頃… と思うと、ぶつけ先のない悔しさがこみ上げてきます。こんな感情は初めてかもしれません。 . どうか１日でも早く安心して暮らせる日常が戻ってくることを願います。 . . おセンチな感じになってしまったけれど(おセンチってまだ言う？大丈夫？)私は元気です！ほんとに。超元気。また笑顔で皆さんと会える日を楽しみにしております！！ . きっと誰かがこの道の先を作ってくれるはず！頼んだよ！ . バスケット選手ではなくなりますが、どうか今後ともよろしくして頂ければ幸せです🥰🥰🥰 - @mamipoco.21 on Instagram

In recognition of National Hispanic Heritage Month, @UCLAalpert is proud to spotlight Kim Mendez-McLeish who recently received their B.M. last spring and is currently a first year M.M. student in Voice Performance. Their abuelito (grandpa) came to the U.S. as an undocumented worker to provide their family with opportunities. Music has always been a way for their family to bond. “To this day, anytime we get together, my dad will pull out his guitar and we will gather around to sing in harmony,” said Kim. “We sometimes even play gigs when I visit. My abuelita was always singing as she cooked or tended to her incredible backyard garden. She is the reason why Ive always wanted to sing mariachi.” In addition to studying western classical singing, Kim serves on the Culture of Academia subcommittee as part of the school’s new Anti-Racism Action Committee. “Our focus is to address decolonizing the curriculum, and to create better and more abundant opportunities for BIPOC at The School of Music, in both faculty and student populations. Isabel Souza is a ceramic artist born and raised in Truro, Massachusetts. In 2019, she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BFA from Syracuse University where she studied art and business. During her undergraduate studies, she explored several mediums including ceramics, textile design, screen-printing and fashion photography. While studying in Florence, Italy for a semester, Isabel cultivated new ideas around craftsmanship, art and fashion that she would use to inform her own brand.⁣ ⁣ After graduating, Isabel moved back to Cape Cod to pursue her dream of establishing a ceramics business. During her first year of operations, she partnered with several local businesses to bring custom batches of ceramics to their shops. She is drawn to the aspects of community and gathering associated with functional pottery. The slow and mindful nature of this craft allows her audience to value these everyday objects. How I use my prayer journal ✨ Prayer is a simple conversation with God. It’s like writing in your diary, but God is The Only One listening to you. You can tell him about your burdens, your worries, your insecurities, your hopes and dreams, your feelings, your goals, your loved ones, your future, your past, your insecurities, literally anything and everything. God just wants our hearts. He wants a personal relationship with and just like all relationships, communication is key! Our relationship with God can transform our life! I’m definitely a writer and note-taker so when I have my prayer time with God, my prayer journal is an essential (along with super cute stationary)! I just wanted to come on here today and share the different ways I use my prayer journal : ✨ I wrote down some of my prayers word for word, no matter how long they are. Seeing my feelings, thoughts and requests written down helps me understand myself a lot better. ✨ I write down the names of my loved ones that I’m praying for. ✨I write down my goals for every year. ✨ I look back at old prayer requests and it reminds me that God always comes through for me - even when I don’t realize it. It’s so amazing to read an old prayer request and think “Hey! I prayed for this and it happened!” ✨ I write down memories that I have in my relationship with God. It helps me grow spiritually and it helps me understand why God says “no” to certain things. Do you have a prayers journal? If not, I definitely recommend investing in one! It can be a plain notebook, or a notebook with verses written in them or an actual prayer journal that you can purchase at tons of stores! Creating a Bathroom “natural soft light” look in a studio setting 🧖🏻‍♀️🧴 swipe for lighting breakdown & more behind-the-scenes for the @herauxskin campaign. 🎥 Camera: Alexa Mini + Cooke 5/i 💡 Lighting Setup for Product Hero shots: The M18 was used to create the overall soft window light look of the bathroom. We shot it through a 4x4 with 250 diff and an 8x8 with full grid for full softness 😍 Joker 400 was used as a backlight, going through a 4x4 with 250. We brought the Hudson Spider up and over to give that extra pop of shine & magic, so the bottle stood out in the frame. I am so proud of myself. There. I said it. Last year this time I was coming out of a really horrible experience in my business. I was working with a developer who I thought was a really good friend and a professional. Turns out she was neither. Our parting was more than messy and very damaging. From the ashes I rose. And so did The Makers Hub Boutique. With some training and research I built a website completely on my own. I even figured out custom coding so my listing templates had tabs like Meet the Maker so I could introduce each maker behind the product. Its something I am super crazy proud of. There are so many incredible people behind those products and brands. They live right here, in our very community, feeding our local economy and culture. This year I was opening up every Sunday for a local handmade market starting in April. A regular marketplace for vendors and shoppers. And then it was gone just like that and I was devastated. It was scary and completely unknown, but I knew I had to stay true to my commitment to support my community and give my business 110%. Especially now. This was yet again another new thing I had never done before, but I was not afraid to try. I pivoted and figured it out along the way. And Im still figuring it out. And its flourishing. And again, I am proud. 👉 THE LOCAL MARKET – FACEBOOK POP-UP I may be scraping by, trying to survive the impacts of Covid and poor choices in business relationships, but Im so very grateful to still be in business, as so many are not. After coming to anchor in Provincetown harbor, a party of armed men under the command of Captain Myles Standish was sent out to explore the area and find a location suitable for settlement. . While they were gone, Susanna White gave birth to a son, Peregrine, aboard the Mayflower (imagine that!) .. He was the first English child born in New England. . In mid-December, the explorers went ashore at a location across Cape Cod Bay where they found cleared fields and plentiful running water and named the site Plymouth. . The expedition returned to Provincetown, and on December 21 the Mayflower came to anchor in Plymouth harbor. Our baby girl is getting married this weekend! . The first time I met Alexandria I put her through hell. Honestly. I was working a wedding on a day it was 110 degrees with no AC (so painful) and this doe eyed little girl in heels was like, “I love weddings I would love to do what you do.” . I evil laughed to myself and said, “it’s not the glamor life you imagine but hey stick around today and you can help out to see if it’s for you.” . It was sticky, everything was melting, kids were running around in diapers, and guests were fleeing bc it was just unbearable. Alex, I had her picking up decks of cards at the kids corner that they destroyed. I had her moving out tables and stacking chairs. She kicked off the heels and that 5”2’ little thing got after it. . I thought she’s really green and she’s so young but DAMN that’s a hard worker! Quite honestly I was just barely holding on that day and she was a life raft. It was only my 3rd year at that point and she was the addition to the team I needed. . She trained twice as long as any other planner saying, “I want this to be perfect. Maybe I will shadow and train on one more before going solo with clients.” That sealed the deal! She cared so much for people she didn’t even know that she was willing to sacrifice her income to be her best. She was a people pleaser. She was a me pleaser. . I think I border line scared her for a few years with my intensity but she developed into such a focused, professional, organized, and unapologetic version of herself. I love it. I love her. . I’m so thrilled she a part of MB, I’m thrilled she about to be MB family for life as a client, and so pleased I’ll be there to assist her through it all this weekend. We love ya little one! Um sofá veio do irmão, uma mesa da irmã, outro sofá comprei de segunda mão para que coubesse toda nossa família. Herdei coisas da minha mãe, minha avó, de avó de amiga. Comprei uma coisa ou outra porque gostei. Mas estou te contando tudo isso porque existe um sentido nas nossas escolhas. E o que eu falo sempre do olhar, tem a ver com isso. Se você pára alguns minutos para observar mais atentamente, verá muito de você nas suas escolhas. Não só na sua casa, mas na sua profissão, na sua família, naquilo que você não fez. Tudo faz sentido quando nos tornamos espectadores de nós mesmos. Sem me aprofundar demais nas questões psíquicas, esse é um belo exercício para se fazer. Nem sempre para aprender a pintar, você precisa apenas saber da técnica. Isso é importante, mas mais importante é entender o que essa escolha diz sobre você 💛! We’ve come a long way baby. From a teeny tiny spare bedroom on the third floor of my Philly home to a team of 7 creating garments for folks around the world, so much can change, so quickly. (Swipe to see some pics from our current studio to our very first studio). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ A few days ago our three year anniversary came and went without my fanfare (honesty. I forgot!). That first year in business was a terrible disaster. I had no idea what I was doing (some days I still don’t know what I am doing), I couldn’t figure out how to make a sale, and I wasn’t a strong enough sewer to sew full time. In early 2018 I realized that if I wanted to make this work I needed help, and I needed it ASAP. So with my last few dollars I hired my first person, Abby, and they are still with me to this day! I quickly learned that building a phenomenal team and a strong community is the surest way to building a successful business. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This year has been a hell of a trip (if you’d told me my third year in business I’d have to battle a pandemic, I don’t think I would have started!) But you all have stood by us, supported us, and extended endless patience to us. For that, I am sincerely grateful. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I’ve been the face of Alice Alexander since we started back then in 2017, but what I’ve learned since starting, and even more so this year with Covid and closures, is that team and community is everything.
