Throwing myself a personal shoutout because it’s been a full 365 days since I got burned in Paris. Until this year, I never understood the importance of mental health because I had not personally dealt with it. I know now that it’s okay not to be okay sometimes. I was so naive about fire safety at events and never thought something like that could happen. Seeing your own body on fire can absolutely destroy your thoughts and flashbacks can play cruel tricks in your own mind. Sometimes, I still turn to the right to look behind me to make sure there’s not an open flame in sight. I’m not ashamed to talk about the months of EMDR therapy I required after this experience. I’m so thankful to the doctors, nurses and therapists at NYP Weill Cornell who are true heroes. So at this time last year, I was sitting in a French hospital not being able to communicate and now I’m proud to say I am a burn victim because as much pain as it caused it makes me an absolute badass. I know that there has been a real feeling of loneliness, isolation and disconnection for many as a result of all of the things that have been going on in the world literally and energetically as of late. It can be tempting to put nurturing ourselves and spirits last at times like these. It can feel hopeless or selfish, but we must. A practice that I find helpful is called “Good Morning, I love you”. So basically, every morning upon waking I put my hand on my heart, feel into the connection and greet myself with “Good morning. I love you Bianca.” And then I sometimes send that gesture of love out to anyone that comes into my mind that morning as well. We don’t have to wait for someone else to say ‘I love you’. We can say it to ourselves. We can give this blessing of love to ourselves. Try it and let me know how it feels and if it’s helpful to you. Good evening. Some say there’s a fine line between loneliness and solitude. I have been in both places and I explore this in my poem, ‘The bridge in between’. Loneliness is an emotion or an experience that’s unlike anything else. It’s that sinking feeling of being unseen, unheard and not understood. It’s like being a part of the crowd and the buzz yet feeling this pit in your stomach that makes you wonder, ‘how many people really know me?’ Or ‘how many people can really see through me?’ Or ‘Is my presence merely an energy in the room or does it mean more?’ Loneliness is an inevitable part of me that never escaped as I moved through different stages in my life. Loneliness is not emptiness. Emptiness is where emotions feel crowded over one another and you simply can’t pick up on how you feel. So, you feel absolutely nothing. Loneliness is beyond that. It’s when you can have so many connections in life yet feel disconnected from the world. It’s going through people and trying to understand them but never feeling understood in return. Loneliness is a friend you’ll fight with but they are the only ones that understand anything. I don’t necessarily think loneliness has anything to do with how you feel about yourself or your spirituality. It’s that profound feeling of alienation that make you feel like you don’t belong. And almost as if your place in the world is perhaps outside it. There’s so much loneliness in not feeling understood. Most people wouldn’t necessarily think it matters that much. But when you have so many facets within you, deep thoughts that want to find a home, you begin to feel the loneliness that comes about it. Loneliness becomes solitude and vice versa all the time. And in that blanket of loneliness, I write. Like the world is standstill around me and it’s me and the words that flow about the paradigms that I have built inside my head. Loneliness is perhaps unpleasant for most but I have learned to accept it. I have learned to make it a home. Not in a negative sense but in the way of it truly understanding me and in the way of it making a sense of the world around me and in the way of how I connect to Supreme Power. Hi everyone, @freyahartas here for my second post on @walkerbooksuk about #Zombierella During lockdown I’ve mostly been working from my home studio (and a couple of tentative days a week in a shared studio up the road) lucky for me my home studio in our Bristol flat feels a bit like being in a magical, fairy tale turret with big windows that look out onto a glorious cherry tree, whose leaves change with the seasons. The first video here is from Autumn last year when the tree had a beautiful golden cloak, I’m looking forward to the leaves changing again soon! Swipe along to see some of my inspiration for Zombierella, I set up a Pinterest inspiration board for all my projects that I like to have open whilst I work. My favourite gothic inspirations are the wonderfully macabre illustrations of Edward Gorey, the drawing of poor little Amy falling down the stairs seems particularly fitting for Zombierella. I also love this amazing photograph by Miss Aniela of three women swanning around a double poster bed, reminiscent of the three Fake sisters. محبوب شے یا اِنسان کا دور کردیئے جانا ہر بار زحمت نہیں ہوتا بعض بلکہ اکثر اوقات اِنسان اپنی محبوب شے یا انسان کو پانے میں خُدا سے بہت دُور چلا جاتا ہے اور ایسے راستے اختیار کرلیتا ہے جو اُس کے لیئے بہتر نہیں ہوتے اُن غلط راستوں کے اختیار کرلینے پر بھی اُسکا دل و دماغ اُسے ملامت نہیں کرتے کیونکہ چاہت کے پردے اُسے ڈھانپے رکھتے ہیں یہ اُسکا غرور ہوتا ہے کہ بس وہ جو بھی کررہا ہے وہی سب سے صحیح ہے اور تب اللّٰہﷻ اُسی شے یا انسان کے ذریعے سیدھا راستہ دِکھاتا ہے اُسکا شے یا انسان کے لئے کیے جانے والے ہر عمل جس پر اُسے غرور ہوتا ہے اُسے اور اُسکے غرور کو ایک جھٹکے میں توڑ دیتا ہے اور تب انسان کو جو تکلیف ہوتی ہے وہ اللّٰہﷻ کی طرف رُجوع پر مجبور کردیتی ہے اور یہ وہ وقت ہوتا ہے جب اللّٰہﷻ اپنے بندے کو خود سے اور قریب کرلیتا ہے تاکہ اُسے جوڑ سکے وہ بندے کو جانتا تو اتنا ہے جتنا کوئی انسان یا بندہ خود کو بھی نہیں جانتا لیکن پھر بھی اُسے خود سے قریب کرکے اُسکی حاجت سُننا چاہتا ہے کیونکہ اللّٰہﷻ تو ستّر ماؤں سے بھی ذیادہ محبت کرتا ہے اپنے بندوں سے اور تب بندہ نہ صرف اللّٰہﷻ کے رحمٰن و رحیم ہونے بلکہ اُسکی موجودگی تک کو اپنے اندر اور ہر جگہ محسوس کرنے لگتا ہے۔ مختصر کہوں تو یہ کہ اللّٰہﷻ دُور نہیں جاتا ہاں مگر بندہ چلا جاتا ہے . . . . . Hey everyone! I am back from a leave due to a rough brief chapter of my own life story, which I’ve overcome and produced a survival tip for anyone out there who needs it = BALANCE IS KEY. This month I lost hair and weight and my health conditions were exacerbated... all due to stress from taking an extremely hard and condensed course required to become a doctor. All I did was study, and I continuously felt behind. The stress of this class far-exceeded the carrying capacity my mind and body could take. However, what I lost that means the most to me was my own cousin’s baby shower I’ll never get to relive. My sister’s 28th birthday. Father’s Day to the best dad of all time. Falling off the face of the Earth from all friends and family and living in quarantine with just this class for one month caused me to lose my spirit and passion, which I’ve had to work very hard on harnessing back. That’s why I couldn’t just post on Compassionate Humanitarian. When I post, it comes from my heart and soul. But during this time my soul’s heart had melted, and I felt so debilitated. BALANCE IS KEY. No matter how hard it is in our day, we have to somehow balance what I call the 7 S’s: spirituality, self, service, social, sustainability, spirit, and study. We can get so caught up in particular aspects of life we forget to take a step back and see the bigger picture.... where will we be when it’s all said and done? Have we done enough to help give love to society as a whole? Have we given ourselves enough to our families and loved ones? Love is what makes the world go around. My take-aways: balance nourishes your soul and spirit, love conquers all, it’s going to be OKAY, never seek to be perfect if it will take a toll on your health and overall well-being, LOVE yourself and become your OWN best friend (because you’re the one person you can never escape from!) ❤️, Compassionate Humanitarian [P.S.
