Lejos de lo que se supone, el Coatepantli o muro de serpientes nunca delimitó el recinto sagrado de la capital mexica, el gigantesco cuadrángulo ceremonial que contenía en su interior varias decenas de edificios religiosos. El Coatepantli era en realidad una estructura arquitectónica de mucho menores proporciones hecha de mampostería y decorada con esculturas serpentiformes de basalto que únicamente enmarcaba la plataforma del Templo Mayor, es decir, el basamento doble dedicado al culto de Huitzilopochtli y Tláloc. Un rasgo característico al cual se le atribuye su nombre, son las enormes esculturas de Serpiente que aún se pueden observar en una de las etapas constructivas, se ha logrado detectar la presencia tonalidades en las serpientes, las que están ubicadas en la zona norte presentan una tonalidad Azul, ésto en vinculación con Tláloc, mientras las del lado sur, predomina una tonalidad Ocre en relación con Huitzilopochtli. تشريعات_حورمحب (1) و قبل ان ندخل فى تشريعات و قوانين حورمحب يجب ان نعرف من هو هذا الشخص الذى انقذ مصر. نشأ حور إم حب فى بلدة (حات نسوت) و هى العاصمه الدينيه للاقليم الثامن عشر من اقاليم الصعيد و الذى يعرف بأسم (سبا) و مكان حات نسوت تقع حاليا بالقرب من بلدة الشيخ فضل على البر الشرقى للنيل فى محافظه المنيا و على اغلب الظن ان والد حورمحب كان حاكما على هذا الاقليم و قد خلفه حورمحب فى حكم هذا الاقليم . هو من اهم المشرعين فى التاريخ المصرى القديم و هو خليفه الملك (آى) الذى جاء بعد توت عنخ امون و سمنخ كا رع اخو توت الاكبر . جاء بعد موت امنحوتب الثالث عدة ملوك ضعاف لم يحسنوا ادارة شئون الدوله فإضطربت السياسه الداخليه و الخارجيه و اختل النظام و تفشى الظلم حتى أن العاصمه المصريه طيبه فقدت قوتها الحربيه و اختل نظام الامن فيها و ذلك لان الملك اخناتون الذى تولى العرش بعد موت ابيه كان منصرفا للعبادة و صراعاته الداخليه بسبب الثورة الدينيه فى العقيدة المصريه التى صنعها فأضطربت شئون الدوله من ناحيه و ثار كهنه امون المعبود الرسمى للدوله من ناحيه اخرى فشاعت الفوضى فى عهد الملوك الضعاف ماعدا الوقت القصير الذى حكم فيه توت عنخ امون الذى حاول جاهدا ان يعيد الاستقرار لكن حياته انقضت قبل ان تبدأ . كان حورمحب قائد للجيش فى عهد اخناتون و فى عهد من خلفه من الملوك و بعد ان رأى كل هذا الظلم الذى تفشى فى انحاء الدوله و اصبح يعرف بكل رغبات ابناء وطنه و كان قد عرف كل نواحى الخلل و الفساد فى الدوله و من ثم اتخذ حورمحب مظهر الزعيم الشعبى الذى جاء لإنقاذ البلاد من الظلم . و فعلا و بعد ان كسب رضاء كهنة امون و تأييد الشعب و ولاء رجال الجيش استطاع بحكمته ان يجلس على العرش و يصبح ملكا على مصر. حورمحب لا يمت الى سلاله ملوك الاسرة الثامنه عشر ولا يعتبر من اصل ملكى و لما كان من المعروف ان كل رجل قوى و حكيم يأتى بعد عهد من عهود الفوضى و يؤسس عهدا جديدا تسود فيه سلطة الدوله فإن حورمحب بناءا على ذلك يعتبر المؤسس الحقيقى للأسرة التاسعة عشر و هذة هى النظريه التى يرجحها كثير من علماء المصريات . يعتبر ايضا حور محب هو الذى وضع اساس سياسة مملكة الرعامسة و ان كان خلفه على العرش ملك من غير صلبه و لا يمت إليه بصله و إنما كان وزيرا له و هو الذى عرف بعد ذلك بأسم رمسيس الاول . يتبع By Mostafa Nasar - @luxor.city on Instagram

Egyptian pharaohs were often overweight. Egyptian art commonly depicts pharaohs as being trim and statuesque, but this was most likely not the case. The Egyptian diet of beer, wine, bread and honey was high in sugar, and studies show that it may have done a number on royal waistlines. Examinations of mummies have indicated that many Egyptian rulers were unhealthy and overweight, and even suffered from diabetes. A notable example is the legendary Queen Hatshepsut, who lived in the 15th century B.C. Un total de 461 cráneos han sido encontrados en el Gran Tzompantli. Se trata de un altar construido con cráneos unidos con argamasa, ubicado frente al Templo Mayor y dedicado a la principal deidad de los mexicas (aztecas). . Raúl Barrera es el arqueólogo responsable del equipo que ha realizado el descubrimiento, en el marco del programa de Arqueología Urbana del Instituto Nacional de Arqueología e Historia (INAH), en la ciudad de México. . Según explica éste investigador, en su gran mayoría son cráneos de individuos adultos jóvenes, entre veinte y veinticinco años (70%). También hay cráneos de mujeres (20%), aunque en mucha menos proporción, y hay cráneos de niños (10%) . Osteologist Rosalind Le Quesne from Underground is working with the Société Jersiaise and Jersey Heritage to set up a digital forensic facial reconstruction all next week at La Hougue Bie. The skull is from a Medieval burial excavated from St Lawrence Church in 2018. This is a very elaborate and rare late 18th / early 19th century hand bell from Edo Nigeria. This is a single bell and is made of brass. The bell is clapperless, so its ring is produced by striking its outer surface when it is used at annual courtly ceremonial functions. The elaborate decoration of the bell and handle includes small crotal bells vertically aligned along the edges border, a leopard head, which symbolises royal power, flanking each side of the oval mouth, and an interlaced pattern filling band at lip. The front is dominated by a horse and rider in relief his left hand holding a staff, his right holding the reigns, the horse’s neck and head emerge from the bell’s surface three dimensionally. The back features in relief a crocodile, a symbol of the Oba and his connection to Olokun (sea god) a theme repeated at the end of the bell’s handle. The bell’s surface treatment sets the figures against a stippled background with a vine-like meanders and on the back a floral pattern. The mask is also known for allowing the transmission of information gathered by all ancient generations to the new one. In this series, we used Artificial Intelligence to create new African masks, and worked in collaboration with a Ghanaian expert caftsman to give them a physical form. Each mask represents a facet of intelligence, which also corresponds to a sector of research in machine learning. Olmec Colossal heads, Mexico 🇲🇽. Stone representations of human heads sculpted into large basalt boulders. The heads date from 900 BC but there is speculation as to the true time of their creation. They likely represent portraits of powerful Olmec rulers, a little known ancient power based in Mexico. The first archeological investigations were conducted by Matthew Stirling in 1938. There are 17 confirmed examples at 4 sites throughout the country. Benjamín Lira, artista que ha explorado tanto la pintura como la escultura en diversas técnicas, adentrándose en espacios repletos de tensiones lineales y cromáticas, se presenta esta vez con sus Cabezas, piezas de cerámica y esmalte de gran tamaño, estructuras fuertes, poderosas, que se abren al espacio como vasijas contendoras en espera de ser llenadas, como la eterna necesidad de lo recíproco (continente/contenido). Trabajo arriesgado de un (creador/artífice) que va insistiendo en la materia hasta lograr la forma/antropomorfa, que escucha, cede y se transforma. Hay una actitud de meditación; son oídos atentos, siempre alertas en estos contenedores de memoria. Señala Lira: “Me interesa el proceso de construcción de los volúmenes que es lento; trabajo desde adentro de la forma, empujando, martillando la pasta para formar el bulto”. Estas cabezas guardan directa relación con el resto de su obra, donde revela su preocupación por el ser humano contemporáneo, por su (ser/estar) en la vida, en constante reflexión, silencio e introspección. No es al azar que el barro, en su proceso de secado, se ajuste y modifique, agrietándose, resistiéndose en surcos y grietas que dan cuenta de un proceso al que lo ha sometido el fuego, ese elemento esencial que quema, arrasa y purifica, y del que todo emerge transformado. I watched the towers fall from 1.5 miles away on Spring St and Thompson, following the sight of small figures falling in the distance. The images of that day are imbedded in my mind as they are in the collective consciousness of us all. We process pain and loss and depression in many different ways, some healthy, some less so. For me, I sometimes make things in an attempt to sit with the feelings I’m struggling with. This piece was such an attempt. It’s more harrowing than most of what I would otherwise spend time creating, but I felt compelled to make it at the time. The figure is a casting, mounted on canvas with basswood strips, painted with sand textured acrylic. It’s hard to believe this piece is 19 years old now. - @chrissoria on Instagram

Perishable Vases returned to the studio. After touring for over a year, the pieces closed in an incubator have transformed. Instead of building an incubator which could preserve and stop the progressing decay, Marcin created an environment in which bacteria thrives. A compact microenvironment creates a stable and controlled conditions which allows you to study the progressing decay, while increasing the kinetics of the decomposing vases. Once again this manually controlled habitat becomes a space for experimentation – where the different processes can be studied, slowed down and expedited. Objects within this humid incubator, are exposed and extremely vulnerable to the elements such as diffused bacteria and enzymes which accelerate the processes of disintegration and decay. Captured behind the thick glass, objects are exhibited to the public eye in their most vulnerable state. Their refined form becomes corrupted and flesh like. On our eyes it changes becoming pale and fuzzy. Covered with a moss like fungus, if begins to resemble half eaten fruit, rather than the former object. Majibu (Reaction) Whenever in need, Majibu helps us to answer with the correct action. Its power protects its bearer from suffering others choices. The followers of Majibu are known for their susceptibility, and it is considered dangerous to deal with them without the power of another mask. In this series, we used Artificial Intelligence to create new African masks, and worked in collaboration with a Ghanaian expert caftsman to give them a physical form. Each mask represents a facet of intelligence, which also corresponds to a sector of research in machine learning. “Alla scoperta del Museo” Oggi vi mostriamo alcuni reperti rinvenuti nell’area sacra del sito archeologico di Sa Carcaredda, che si trova nel territorio di Villagrande Strisaili (NU). Si tratta di tre figure in bronzo rappresentanti un arciere e due offerenti, che dovevano costituire doni votivi posti nel tempio e poi conservati all’interno di un ripostiglio, dove vennero rinvenuti durante gli scavi archeologici. La prima figura, l’arciere, tiene l’arco posato sulla spalla sinistra e ha il braccio destro proteso in avanti in segno di saluto. Ha gli occhi “a globetto” e i capelli, resi con un tratteggio, che arrivano al collo. Porta un elmo dotato di corna e un gonnellino, sulle spalle si nota la faretra con frecce e pugnale e le ginocchia sono protette da schinieri. L’offerente maschile, mutilo di un avambraccio, è raffigurato stante con braccia protese in avanti. Ha occhi incavati e sopracciglia arcuate. Sul capo porta un copricapo, da cui fuoriescono i capelli, il collo è avvolto da una goliera e indossa una doppia tunica corta, sul petto pende una cintura coperta da una stola appoggiata sulla spalla sinistra. La figurina di offerente femminile invece tiene sulla mano sinistra una ciotola decorata. Si tratta di una figura stante con occhi “a globetto” e capo velato. As we head into October, #ConnectingCollections is exploring the theme of monsters across ancient cultures. Who were the monsters of the ancient world and what did they represent to ancient peoples? How were these monsters brought to life through objects? Follow #ConnectingCollections and enjoy #MonsterMonth with figures like Anzu, Huwawa, Pazuzu and others from beyond Mesopotamia. Images of demons were used to ward off other evils, thus protecting the house and its inhabitants. This particular demonic face is probably that of the legendary monster, Humbaba (Huwawa), whom Gilgamesh is said to have defeated at the Cedar Forest.
