🤘A proposal for housing on the Universal Studios backlot with @michael_deprez. It has been our interest to imagine a scenario in which the spectacle of simulated cities that live on the backlot could merge with the day-to-day functions of a real city. It does not claim entertainment as the sole ambition, but rather analyses and evokes it. Through the use of the super-generic, the city fragment, and the graphics of media, the project suggests a new and radical condition of living. // This project is the result of a year’s worth of research under the wonderful instruction of @neil_denari who graciously supported us as we explored our own interests. It is a culmination of interests and passions that have grown immensely during my time at UCLA. There are a lot of people I am so thankful for, from the amazing friends that I’ve gained to the instructors who have helped shape me (more on all that later!) but right now I want to give some extra love to Michael, who has been an incredible best friend and partner through 7 years of school. Here’s a nice pink bench (1900 x 450 x 430) that went into @thegladcafe 👊🏼 and how it’s made (18mm biscuited birch rips and clad with 9mm pinned and glued to finish at 100mm), and some pink flooring for another thing. The pink tiles are skip waste from the Dalsouple factory in Bridgwater, Somerset. They’re colour and texture experiments that never made it to market. I bet there’s literally tonnes of this kind of ‘waste’ up and down all our regions that end up in landfill sites but really don’t need to! #reusedingovanhill - @simon_harlow on Instagram

И это работает - потихоньку приходит ощущение «своего» города, и начинаешь мыслить смелее, чувствовать себя свободнее. So here it is, the M4A3E8 Sherman. Or, if you want to be really technical, we can call it an M4A3(76)W HVSS GMC. Its been nearly five years since I last built an E8, and the design has changed a bunch. This version is smaller, more detailed and I believe ultimately considerably more accurate. Im particularly proud of the turret shape and engineering, I think it captures the look of a late-war T23 turret nicely. But let me know what you think! I always appreciate the feedback. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen was directed by Michael Bay with cinematography by Ben Seresin, ASC. Following through on its promise to be a sequel, the story is told through explosions, gunfire, and loud vrooming noises set to voice-over in a nod to its core audience. Today we’re taking a look at lighting the first fight scene of the film, which takes place at night and sets up the premise of the plot: Fallen Transformers are out for Revenge. To acquire this crucial bit of dialogue, lots of army men and sentient cars drive around dodging explosions and shooting at one another. All of this took place on location at the Bethlehem Steel Campus in Bethlehem, PA. The factory had shut down years before in 1995, so there was plenty of room to drive fast cars and blow stuff up. The entire campus is 10 acres, but the set was contained to 16,000 square feet. Lighting this scene involved four nights of pre-lighting, three Bebee trucks, and 11 generators. One of the biggest challenges to this location was lighting the five, quarter-mile high, furnace stacks so they stood out in the night and rigging lights at their tops. Because there was so much movement and so many explosions, cameras were everywhere, which meant that all lighting on the ground needed to look purposeful. The stacks were lit from their bases with 12 Light Maxi Brutes and mini-nine lights to up-light them, while 12K LRX heads were rigged from the top to act as spotlights. Additionally, a Blackhawk helicopter was rigged with a xenon spotlight manned by @iatselocal728 members Erica Kim @itsericakim and Michael Schwartz to operate the focus as the explosions, guns, and cars whirled about below. When you visit inside, you can see its original Jarrah structure, original roof + a few of the original tools. ⠀ ⠀ Sash, Ben + friends spent a few weekends cleaning it out to create our inviting and cosy space. ⠀ ⠀ Aussie, Peter + Ben have all spent hours working in here. Peter remembers his fathers big manual drill in the centre of the shed, Peter had his sharpening wheel for his shearing tools + many bits and pieces.
