Out with the old. In with the new. In trying to fix my washer (need to replace a bad transmission), I had to turn these old valves on and off. The constant turning resulted in these 50 year old valves, corroded with hard water, and painted over numerous times, to leak, even when shut off. The supply lines were also leaking at the connections so water was squirting everywhere. So its time for some new hardware! Yewww! Plumbing repairs are intimidating to me especially because a poor repair can lead to more damage like soggy drywall. But replacing valves (sink, toilet, spigot, etc) like these, are pretty straightforward, especially if its a valve with a compression sleeve. With the help of YouTube, you can fix stuff like this yourself. I figure a plumber wouldve charged me, at the very least, a hundred bucks. It took me about two hours (I had to make two trips to Home Depot because I got the wrong sized flange; that shiny circular thing in between the wall and the valve). All this to say and show that you can do your own repairs as well! At least take the time to Google the problem to see if its an easy fix and something that you could possibly fix yourself. Krebs macht keine Pause Am Wochenende waren viele von uns auf der yescon organisiert von yes wecancer Gemeinsam das Thema Krebs voranbringen, offen über Tabuthemen sprechen, sich vernetzen und gemeinsam füreinander da zu sein. Wir danken allen für diese tolle Erfahrung, für die inspirierenden Panels, für die offenen Worte, den Austausch und die emotionalen Momente. Besonders in Zeiten von Corona fehlt der persönliche Austausch sehr was wir auf der yescon nachholen konnten. Das Bild entstand direkt an der Frischluft, deshalb konnten wir ohne Maske auf dem Foto sein. Ansonsten war striktes Maskentragen angesagt worauf jeder immer hingewiesen wurde. Es wurde sehr akribisch darauf geachtet, dass wir Abstand halten, unsere Hände immer desinfizieren und es keine Grüppchenbildung gibt. Danke an alle die dabei waren und es zu einem unvergesslichen Moment gemacht haben. Es braucht Mut und Hoffnung, um diese Krankheit zu bewältigen. Es ist nicht immer einfach, aber gemeinsam schaffen wir mehr und sind füreinander da. Der Austausch von Patienten, Ärzten, Stars und Unternehmen bringt die Entwicklung besser voran , so dass dir schneller geholfen werden kann. Wir alle arbeiten in jeglicher Form daran die Krebswelt stetig zu verbessern. Wir hoffen ihr hattet Spaß mit uns als rasende Reporter im Hintergrund. Wir sagen immer „Miteinander. Füreinander.“ und so soll es auch sein. Es gibt so viele tolle Projekte für Krebs Patienten und einige davon waren auch vor Ort. EMERGING ARTISTS SHOWCASE: ★Angel Godwin★ Choreographer Spotlight: 1. What is your piece name? “mind game” 2. What are your major/minors? Double major in Dance Performance & Choreography (BFA) and Business Administration (BS) 3. If willing to share, where did the inspiration for your piece come from? Originally the piece was to be about the ideas of individualism and groupthink, but the further along I got, the more the idea shifted. Once the choreography came together, it ended up exploring the ideas about the trust and distrust of individuals that are in the space together. 4. What was the most fun part of this experience? Working with my cast was the best part of this experience. I loved being able to take an idea and play with it, seeing all of the different possibilities that we could create. 5. What was the most challenging part of this experience? I think as a first time choreographer, I spent a lot of time making sure that each movement matched with a specific point in the music. That definitely limited me, so I had to push through those boundaries I set for myself and find creative ways to use the music to my advantage. It taught me a lot about how I want to structure future work. 6. Any additional comments? I want to thank my amazing cast: Sydney, Jessica, Rowan, and Megan. They worked so hard in each rehearsal to take in all of my intricacies within the movement and put their own personality into this piece. The project brief was to create a sub-brand for Natasha Zinko. So I drew inspiration from Zinko’s whimsical aesthetic at the time and took further elements from Ukrainian folklore. The name of this shoe is called Vasilisa, named after one of the characters in the folklore; a brave woman who was fearless and battled wicked powers. I wanted to bring about female empowerment with this concept, but just as women are brave, they can also be whimsical and dauntless with their dreaming.
