🤑🔥 Conscious consumerism is something that I used to speak a lot more about. I used to promote ethical brands, I curated an ethical directory on my old blog + would be actively seeking out more conscious brands to work with or shop from myself. Im not here to get in the way of anybody making the change from H&M to a more ethically-aware brand (please do that if you can, we should try our best to boycott billionaire brands) but look, after a lot of learning + coming to terms with the extent of the climate crisis and realising that in all honesty, I dont have a whole lot of hope left - that aint the solution. We cannot buy ourselves out of this mess. Swapping from oat milk to pea milk because Oatly decided to sell some shares to a company that seems completely misaligned with their values, isnt exactly a radical action. It makes me feel better, sure, but it doesnt out-weigh the real crux of the matter. Re: Oatly - like I saw @ajabarber say, its like her taking money from a fossil-fuel company just because she knows it will improve her own personal livelihood. Green capitalism (the idea that we can resolve environmental issues by continuing to focus on the economic market) is a way of making us feel like we have some resemblance of control over things. Hey, if I just buy clothes made from organic cotton instead of the usual stuff, then Bobs your uncle, right? Radical action is taking that head-on + looking at the root of the issues. Its voting out Donald Trump because he doesnt believe in science. Its taking to the streets with direct-action because its a tactic proven successful for social change. Its creating the world you want to see, without permission (mutual-aid groups during the pandemic, Im looking at you 😍!). Its like doing all of that at the same time, if you can. By all means, swap your milk brands but please, please dont stop there. In all honesty, when you start looking past consumer choices as a solution, your eco-anxiety will be alleviated somewhat because, at the end of the day, 100 companies are responsible for 71% of global emissions and the smoke from West Coast fires just reached Northern Europe. 🤑🔥 - @tolmeia on Instagram

यूपीः हाथरस, बलरामपुर के बाद भदोही में दलित लड़की से दरिंदगी, सिर कुचलकर हत्या, यूपी में कानून व्यवस्था फेल अपराध दिन पर दिन बढ़ रहा है.उत्तर प्रदेश में महिलाओं के खिलाफ होने वाले अपराध तमाम दावों के बावजूद थमने का नाम नहीं ले रहे हैं. अभी कई जिलों में रेप की घटनाओं को लेकर लोगों का गुस्सा शांत भी नहीं हुआ कि भदोही में एक नाबालिग दलित लड़की का बेरहमी के साथ कत्ल कर दिया गया. उसकी हत्या सिर कुचलकर की गई है. लड़की के घरवालों का आरोप है कि बलात्कार के बाद उनकी बेटी को मार दिया गया. घटना भदोही के गोपीगंज कोतवाली क्षेत्र की है. जहां चकराजाराम तिवारीपुर गांव में दोपहर के वक्त 14 वर्षीय दलित नाबालिग लड़की घर से निकलकर पास के खेत में शौच के लिए गई थी. लेकिन काफी देर तक वो वापस नहीं लौटी. जब परिजनों ने खेत की तरफ जाकर देखा तो खून से सनी उसकी लाश वहां पड़ी थी. उसका सिर कुचलकर निर्मम तरीके से हत्या को अंजाम दिया गया था. घटना की सूचना मिलते ही पुलिस मौके पर जा पहुंची. परिजनों ने आशंका जताई है कि उनकी बेटी को रेप के बाद मारा गया है. पुलिस ने मौके पर जांच पड़ताल शुरू कर दी. फॉरेंसिक एक्सपर्ट और क्राइम ब्रांच की टीम को भी मौके पर जांच के लिए बुलाया गया है. भदोही के पुलिस अधीक्षक राम बदन सिंह का कहना है कि पुलिस रेप और अन्य बिंदुओं पर जांच कर रही है. उन्होंने बताया कि नाबालिग लड़की की हत्या सिर कुचलकर की गई है. नाबालिग के साथ रेप हुआ है या नहीं, यह पोस्टमार्टम रिपोर्ट आने के बाद ही पता चल सकेगा. घटना को लेकर इलाके में रोष व्याप्त है. हालांकि पुलिस इस मामले की जांच में हर कदम फूंक-फूंक कर रख रही है. क्योंकि इससे पहले हाथरस, बलरामपुर में भी दलित लड़कियों के साथ बलात्कार और हत्या के मामलों ने पुलिस और कानून पर सवालिया निशान लगा दिए हैं. हाथरस में जबरन दलित लड़की की लाश को जला देने से भी यूपी पुलिस और सरकार की किरकिरी हो रही है. विपक्ष ने भी यूपी सरकार पर धावा बोल दिया है. #News #AgraMirror #BhadohiRapeCase #UPGovt #YogiSarkar #UPPolice - @agramirror on Instagram

I found this photo today and was reminded of a time when my only worry in life was not tripping down the aisle on my big day. Six years later and I’m pretty sure my mind and body feels like its aged about 20 years. . 2019 was the year that broke me 💔The year I said goodbye to two babies who I had already made a place in my heart for. The year when life felt as if it was burying me alive and there was no way to ever see the light again... . The past few months have been filled with learning to savor the climb. I’m learning that the climb is where the hard work happens, where you confront every fear, pain, and anxiety. I’ve learned that things can’t always be easy because the reward is so great sometimes, that we have to fight for it! ❤️ . This “work” I’ve been doing has been such GOOD work. It’s opened my eyes to the hurt of others and allowed me to see and feel how much pain other people are in that I never chose to recognize. I don’t share this story in hopes that you will feel pity for me; I share this because if sharing my own story of finding my light again can impact just one person, than it was worth it ❤️ . 2020 is our year to shine friends...I am filled with so much hope and love and want to pour that out on each of you. It happened to me too. . . When I recovered from B.E.D I lost three friendships that were important to me at that time. . . While they didn’t explicitly tell me that they didn’t support my recovery, their actions made it quite clear. . . They were not in support of my adopting healthier behaviours around food. . . They were not supportive of the fact that I was able to pursue new opportunities as a result of recovery, one of which included dating after not being able to do so for quite some time, which I now understand may have been largely in part due to my eating disorder. . . They were not supportive of the goals I had towards a better life for myself. . . I’ve probably made these three girls sound totally evil. I wouldn’t say that they are. But I WOULD definitely say that I played a role in this group that recovery would cause me to no longer fulfil. . . That role was the girl who was always free on a Saturday night because she was dateless. The girl who didn’t have much fashion sense because she wore baggy clothing to hide herself. The girl who was always down to eat in large quantities with you ( and eating large meals is great and can be fun but in my case it was part of ongoing binges), but was actually losing herself in the food and not managing her real emotions. . . So I made the choice years ago to walk away. . . At first, it was hard. Really hard. I questioned my decision constantly even though others affirmed I was right. But when I look at my life years later recovered I know I’m so much happier. I have friends that truly care about me and know how much I care about them. I’m able to exercise for joy and health and not to shrink. I am able to enjoy meals with others where I feel present and not using food to numb. . . I’m telling you this so you know that if you need to or needed to walk away from certain people to maintain your recovery, that this is not only okay, but normal. . .
