(As always - everyones mental health is different and Im only writing from my own experiences, what works for me might not work for you and thats okay!) These are just little tips I use when my anxiety isnt too terrible but its at a level thats beginning to bother me. Whats your go-to thing? [đšđ„đđđĄđ§] As educated STEM professionals, we are privileged. Regardless of the color of your skin, if you are educated you have privilege. Now that we agree on this: . đđđđ§: If youâre a Non-Black/Indigenous STEM professional, youâre more privileged than a Black/Indigenous STEM professional. đđđđ§: Racism in STEM is incredibly harmful. STEM careers are essential to the growth and development of the entire human race. . đđđđ§: If you are a Non-Black/Indigenous STEM professional, and you do not acknowledge your privilege, you are continuing the deeply rooted racism in our STEM community. đđđđ§: Racism has NO place in STEM, including internalized racism. Internalized racism is racism that one doesnât even know theyâve internalized! Itâs reflected in the way we act, we treat others, and especially how we respond to the #BlackLivesMatter movement. . If you have been âcalled outâ during this time, there is a reason. Donât justify your actions. Donât send receipts of your support. Donât steamroll someone for educating you, and donât send your NonBlack/Indigenous friends after them either. Your behavior is just continuing on the hundreds of years of racism built into the development of the modern day. Our modern day world was built on the shoulders of Black Slaves & Indigenous Sacrifice, the least you can do is recognize and change your behavior. . If you are tagged, you are a NonBlack/Indigenous person who has been called out and has NOT responded with allyship. View the first box âAuthentic Allyshipâ, compare to your reactionâs box, and change. #STEMbaddies is here to support all Baddies in STEM and provide them with the resources to be better because #RepresentationMatters and the next generation of #STEMbaddies does not deserve to inherit your racism. . @mr.fascinateâs video on science taking advantage of the black community is eyeopening! . artwork by @seerutkchawla ! đ€© . . . . . . . . #womeninstem#performativeallyship#science#steminist#pocintech#womenintech#womeninengineering#womeninmath#womeninbusiness#womeninbiology#sciencestudies#blm#toronto#sanfrancisco#newyork#chicago#allyship#whitefragility#phdlife#phd#phdbalance#indigenousinSTEM#nativesinSTEM - @stem.baddies on Instagram

GLASGOW COMA SCALE đ§ đđȘđŒđŁ The Glasgow Coma Scale is a standardized neurological assessment scale đ§ used to assess the functional state of the brain as a whole and the patientâs level of consciousness. The GCS is an assessment tool that youâll be using all throughout your nursing career! The highest possible score is 15 which indicates that the patient is fully alert. đ GCS 13-15 Score = Mild head injury GCS 9-12 Score = Moderate head injury GCS 3-8 Score = Severe head injury If a patientâs eye opening response đ cannot be assessed due to swelling of the eyes, record âCâ for eye opening. They are evaluated only based on motor and verbal response score and the suffix âCâ is added to their score (max score 11C and minimum score is 2C). If a patientâs verbal response đŁ cannot be assessed due to the placement of an endotracheal tube or tracheotomy tube, record âEâ or âTâ respectively for verbal response. They are evaluated only based on eye opening and motor response and the suffix âEâ or âTâ is added to their score (max score 10E/T or minimum score 2E/T). - @itsnursemo on Instagram

Sensory processing disorder (SPD; also known as sensory integration dysfunction) is a condition where multisensory integration is not adequately processed in order to provide appropriate responses to the demands of the environment. Sensory processing disorder is present in almost all people with autism spectrum disorders. Signs and symptoms: Sensory processing disorder (SPD) is characterized by persistent challenges with neurological processing of sensory stimuli. Such challenges can appear in one or several sensory systems: Somatosensory system, Vestibular system, Proprioceptive system, Interoceptive system, Auditory system, Visual system, Olfactory system, and Gustatory system. While many people can present one or two symptoms, sensory processing disorder has to have a clear functional impact on the persons life,There may be: âąSigns of over responsivity âąSigns of under responsivity âąSensory discrimination problems âąINTERVENTION: Sensory Integration therapy and Sensory processing therapy. . . . . #occupationaltherapystudent #wellbeing #occupationaltherapyawareness #otpromotion #futureot #sensoryprocessingdisorder #wfota #cota #aota #wfot #occupationaltherapyprofessional - @_psycheup on Instagram

#Repost @societyforneurosports ă»ă»ă» While too much testosterone can lead to deleterious health consequence, too little is not good, either. Testosterone is critical for more than just muscle! Testosterone levels associate with brain psychological health and cognitive performance throughout life. A deficiency in testosterone associates with reduced neurobehavioral performance in men and women. For example, in hypogonadal men, there is a significant decrease in neurobehavioral performance such as episodic memory, working memory, processing speed, visual spatial processing, and executive function, â Testosterone-sensitive cognitive functioning is regulated by the androgen receptor-regulated regions of the brain with region-specific androgen receptors. In particular, androgen receptors are densely expressed on pyramidal neurons in the cerebral cortex, the bed nucleus of the stria terminalis, the hippocampus. and the amygdala (androgen receptor expression in the amygdala is thought to relate to sex-differences in amygdala activation to arousing stimuli). Testosterone also exerts a role in cellular neuroprotection protects against apoptosis (especially in the hippocampus) and neurodegenerative disease. Testosterone is also important for limiting the activity of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis (HPA). The end-product of the HPA axis is cortisol, and the HPA axis responds preferentially to psychological stress. â đRef: Ciocca, G., Limoncin, E., Carosa, E., Di Sante, S., Gravina, G.
