Lets get real....... . Its funny to see peoples reactions when I tell them my husband is a firefighter. . Theyre always so intrigued and say Oh how nice for you!, but I chuckle to myself knowing good and well that its not always a glamorous life being a fire wife. . Its spending nights alone with one side of the bed cold. Its hearing Whens Daddy coming home? followed by a sad sigh when you have to answer Not for a few more days. . . Its learning to go to events alone and getting used to the Do you even still have a husband? jokes. . . Its having to be Mom & Dad on a regular basis and then having to switch right back to normal when he comes back home. . . He had to be called out to a strike team for almost a week now and we dont know when he will be back. Its a day to day basis. . . While we wait patiently at home for his arrival. He is saving homes and being covered in soot for 24 hour periods. . .I look forward to seeing his face on DUO. The kids love it too. Frankies face lights up when he gets to see his sons face. . . Say lots of prayers for him and his crew and well all firemen fighting these outrageous fires. Posted @withregram • @orangutaninformationcentre Found with Maggot Infested Injury, A Male Orangutan Rescued An adult male orangutan was rescued by a joint rescue team consisting of OIC HOCRU team, @bksdaaceh and local people, from an oil palm plantation owned by a local resident in Seunebok Keranji village, Bahagia city subdistrict, South Aceh district of Aceh Province yesterday (Wednesday, 09/09/20). This orangutan, that later named Rudi, was found with a maggot infested wound on his right hand. From general health check, Rudi is estimated about 25 years old and was also found with 8 air riffle bullets on his body and face. Rushly, Rudi was taken to @socp.official rehabilitation and quarantine centre to get medical care he desperately needs. Our team works very hard and tirelessly on the ground to give a second chance to help orangutans like Rudi, however we cant do this without your help. Calm down Karen, it’s just a tube… I get it, a tube coming out of my nose and taped to my face is a lot to take in; but let me tell you more about my NG tube. First things first; “What is an NG tube?” In simple terms, it’s a long tube that gives my medical team access to my stomach and all the fun stuff inside. When I’ve had bowel blockages in the past, or when Olivia’s “fallen asleep” for long periods of time, I’ve had NG tubes placed to decompress my stomach. Having my tube placed was not a comfortable time BUT, having AMAZING NURSES (you know who you are) makes the experience so much better. After one of my surgeries, I pulled my NG out in my sleep; I called my nurse and he was so calm about it all. He ended up dancing and cheering me on as he was placing the NG (if you read this, thank you… I needed that laugh). If you’re getting your first NG tube, this is a general idea of how they are placed. Hopefully, this makes it way less intimidating for you: * Your nurse will come in with a bunch of supplies (don’t worry, it looks scarier than it is). * The NG tube will be measured from your nose to the sternum, this makes sure that it gets placed in the right area. * I’ve always been sitting upright for my tube placements, my nurses have me sip water during the procedure; this helps the placement be more comfortable for the patient. * The nurses will ask you to bend your head forward while 2/3 inches are inserted; once that happens, you will look towards the ceiling while still sipping your water. * Your NG will be taped to your face (I prefer band-aids) and then you will have a chest X-Ray to make sure it’s in the correct spot. Here are my tips for coping with an NG: * Get your nurse to put your NG in the freezer before they place it, it makes it hurt less! * Don’t be embarrassed about your tube! Having something physically attached to your face can 100% make you self-conscious, but you deserve to feel beautiful as you are. I would do my hair every day and wear my own jammies; this made me 10x more comfortable & confident about my tube. * Hard candies, cure dry mouth I hope this helps! South Africa has had some of the strictest lockdown measures in the world. For the past 5 weeks almost all businesses have been closed and people have been stuck at home apart from grocery shopping or medical requirements. Yesterday the lockdown was eased slightly to allow for 3 hours of exercise between 6am and 9am. Having simple freedoms like being able to go outside taken away from you definitely makes you appreciate them that much more when they come back. One of the things that I hope to take out of this experience is a greater appreciation for some of the things we sometimes take for granted like having the ability to exercise. - @vincedickson on Instagram

The suicide rate in Nunavut is nearly 9 times the average of what is currently called Canada. Inuit have been made vulnerable through decades of trauma that continue to be passed on through generations- what we more commonly refer to as intergenerational trauma. The Grizzlies tell this story; how the impact of colonization has reverberated through our communities and continues to do so as we work to rebuild so much of what was taken from us. But it doesn’t only tell this story. Has anyone ever told you that Inuit have some of the best sense of humour out there? That through a millennium of hard winters and bountiful summers, we have thick skin- figuratively and literally. That we are so, so resilient? That we are strong, proud, full of hope? Because we are, and The Grizzlies tell this story too. It is so easy to get lost in trauma but we know that we cannot let it consume us. Strength in community, in ourselves, continues to push us forward and gives us the ability to reclaim who we are so that we can thrive. This movie changed my life. I hope it changes yours, or at the very least, opens your eyes to something you may not have seen before. The Grizzlies is out on digital on September 15th, 2020. Holy rage, Sacred anger, Positive aggression. These states of being are cruitial aspects of the Divine Feminine. It’s the Female power that ends wars, that brings home missing children, that seeks justice for the earth and for those who can’t defend themselves. The feminine for too long, has been disassociated from rage and anger. If we cannot embody the fiery emotion of anger, it often festers or expresses itself in subversive, manipulative ways. Or it leaves us feeling frustrated and anxious. Mine is primal screaming. Intuitively I did this before knowing it was an actual thing. Screaming in rage, from the pit of my stomach. Throwing things around, in a safe manner. Now I also write, dance and swim just to name a few. All ways that I help move anger through me. It’s okay to be angry... In fact it’s totally normal and necessary sometimes. It’s what you do to express that anger that truly counts. Positively or negatively... Well here we go again, back in lockdown. In all honesty Im devastated, and I dont know if I want to yell, or scream, or punch something, or curl up into a ball, but where would any of that get me? Absolutely no where. Within every circumstance there lies a silver lining and opportunity. So instead; Im going to appreciate the opportunity I had to go on many adventures within beautiful parts of Victoria over the last four weeks. I am truly thankful that I got to spend that time with some absolutely amazing people who added to the experiences in their own uniquely individual ways. There was much banter, many laughs, thoughtful discussions, eye opening moments, and just pure bliss, and I wouldnt trade any of these moments for anything. Finally, going forward I am going to concentrate on things I CAN control. I will narrow my focus and delve deep into working on self improvement, in what I believe are my areas of opportunity. Im going to continue to work on creating the future I envision for myself, and Im not going to let anything stop me.
