I’M NOT LEAVIN 😤 • Four years in a caption if you care to read it! For me, joining Flywheel was a liberation from investment banking and an introduction to New York City. I met, worked with, and learned from four of the coolest and smartest people I‘ve ever known (hello friends @bizandboomer @betsyhbrandt @palmersbray and @seemikeyc). I got to build an insanely cool, sabermetrics inspired data analysis toolkit and get paid for doing it. I eventually got to leave finance entirely and work just as hard partying on a bike with the toughest kids in town. And I guess I fell in love with a pretty cool girl along the way 😏 • All of that led us here! Where we are right now. Mid-pandemic. Figuring out our fitness together. Losing something so familiar is surely sad, mostly for how it represents what this crisis has taken from us. But our community was never going to be constrained by a brand! Ironman Cairns Race Report Short Version I had high expectations based off my training, I went into the race confident I could break 9 hours and ended up humbled and hungry. I swam solo 57 minutes, one of the fastest of all age groupers. I rode above my race plan for 2 hours and paid for it, finishing the bike in 5:15 and suffering in the headwind. The run started well, going through the 14km in just over an hour, then my belly gave out, my body shut down and it was game over. I ended up walk-running the second half of the marathon for 4:05 and a 10:24 overall time. Happy to compete, happy to finish, disappointing result but it just shines the holes in my preparation. This past week has been so tough on people I hold so close to my heart. But yesterday as we sat out in the water cheering and celebrating one of the greatest humans to walk this earth, we were surrounded by so much love. Red Bull truly is a family and Chumpy touched the lives of so many of us, always up for a chat, a laugh and a good time. To see the amount of people out there at Narrabeen yesterday was a true testament to the person he was and he will be so sorely missed. This really is a stark reminder that life’s far too short to not hug the people you care about and tell them you love them. I have no doubt that Chumpy was up there laughing yesterday as us rookies tried to paddle back in, sore arms and getting dumped in the shorey and washed up on the sand like a beached whale. Twenty (20) years ago today was the start of four fantastic days volunteering at the #sydney2000 Olympic Canoe Slalom event at @penrith_whitewater 💦 With a sold out stadium crowd each day, the atmosphere was electric⚡as the worlds best #canoeslalom athletes chased their Olympic dreams. Мозг поёт,тело плачет 15 августа Полтора часа на сон и в 1:30 ночи поехал на шамору бегать #большойдубовский 22 км. ⠀Вернувшись домой,мы с ребятами поехали на море, там я себя ушатал нырянием за гребнем(не подсчитал груза и с 8-10м всплывать было невероятно тяжело, каждый раз топило). После морей, сбор на мероприятие #triathlon #железныйостров ⠀ 16 августа. 5.30 едем на о.Русский 7.30 прибыли на место старта 8:00 старт в дисциплине бег у @anskazka (8км) я поддерживал её в роли #пейсер (а) и как раз размялся перед своей дисциплиной #swim ⠀ 10:00 мой старт плавание на 1,5 км. Это был не просто заплыв, это командный старт в дисциплине #triathlon . ⠀ Состав: я (плавание), @syuzko_slik (вел ) @andrey270613 (run) , а Юки - просто красивая ⠀ Перед стартом волновался, за 30 минут #до ушёл в машину, чтобы побыть один, морально настроиться. ⠀ В 10.00 вода #закипела , ощущения что я испытывал в этот момент не передать словами. Перед тобой летаютпятки,локти, страха что отвешают по физиономии не было.Главное не отставать, ведь от этого зависит старт #велоэтапа. ⠀ Усталости не было, но сложно было ориентироваться по бую.Пока плыл думал как бы лишнего не накрутить, но по итогу +200м. Этап я прошел для себя хорошо, ребята похвалили , в транзитку забежал 4 и без штрафов передал эстафету @syuzko_slik . ⠀ @syuzko_slik крутил как бог конечно, я далек от этого, но его никто не обошел за 5 кругов! Я орал ему так, что голос сел,говорит помогало(а раньше мы были соперниками по гребле,познакомились на соревах а теперь выступаем как команда). ⠀ Завершающий этап #бег у нас курировал @andrey270613 (8км) , жара стояла просто жуть. Андрея я тоже решил поддержать. Все 8 км бежал с ним рядом,задавал темп ,подавал воду ,что-то ему говорилПо плану темп хотели держать 4.20 , но что-то пошло не так. ⠀ По итогу, могу сказать, что я доволен как слон, эмоции на уровне Джомолунгма. Kat won yesterday and had a great race. In her mind she didn’t have any significant problems and it was a smooth.But that’s what makes people like her and others (who will all have a similar story from Sunday) different and why they succeed. I realise more and more that triathlon is a game of perseverance and heres why Sunday was another example: Day before her chain jammed solid in front chainrings and gears didn’t work, my mistake and fixed with a borrowed drill. Swim was shortened to 750, more than halving her advantage on her main rival Power meter wouldn’t turn on when setting up, probably broken by me with the drill 🙄 Got ver cold in swim but mega tuck and kick screaming dive boosted bravado! T1 - her hands were too cold to put gloves on so throws them to save time and stay in the race Gets numb feet from transition run and rear bottle cage caused a near crash on mount (luckily got this on footage) Couldn’t get her feet in the shoes as just too cold Freezing start and regrets kit choices, starts to doubt Gets stopped by traffic at the first turn, falls further behind Fenella Dropped by Fenella on the first climb and already being caught by Nikki - “ffs” Sick in mouth and couldn’t eat to start - thinks “GI issues again?” Almost gets blown off the bike “was 60mm a terrible choice?” I tell her Lucy Hall is 3 mins up causing slight panic. She pushed on trying to catch and drop the other two into head wind only to look back to see Nikki being happily paced Gives up pushing on and hands over to Nikki, settling to letting her dictate the pace Problematic glute becomes “alarmingly sore “ Shoes won’t go on in T2, then run out the wrong way (again on Camera 👌🏻) Had something in the heel of her shoe, “it’s ok I run on my forefoot anyway” Back and legs are alarmingly sore for the first 3km. Hips “crazy tight, Will it settle?” Only had 75% of nutrition and water, “will I fade?” Thinks “Why haven’t I seen Lucy?” I forgot to tell her she went wrong 🤦♂️. Есть у нас такая отличная традиция - проводить свои спортивные старты. А вы знаете, когда появились бассейны?🌊 ⠀ Кто-то думает, что бассейн был изобретен в прошлом веке, но это далеко не так.😉 ⠀ Строительство первых плавательных бассейнов было зафиксировано в третьем веке до нашей эры, их можно было найти в доме практически любого богатого римлянина. ⠀ Конструкция такого бассейна представляла собой плотно прилегающие каменные блоки, опечатанные смолой в качестве гидроизолирующего материала. ⠀ В древних бассейнах не только проводились купальные процедуры, но и спортивные соревнования, а также общеукрепляющие оздоровительные занятия. ⠀ Считается, что римляне - первые люди, которые пользовались бассейном с подогревом. ⠀ Массовое строительство общественных бассейнов началось в 19-м веке в Европе, после создания крытого искусственного водоема в Великобритании (начало 1830-х гг.), завоевавшего широкую известность по всему миру. ⠀ Популярность больших бассейнов, доступных для всех желающих, увеличилась с возрождением Олимпийских игр, как и любовь к спорту в целом. ⠀ Большой спрос на спортивно-оздоровительные комплексы с бассейнами, аквапарки и бассейны спа пришелся на 20-й век.⠀ Появляются крупнейшие плавательные водоемы в Уэльсе и Сантьяго (площадью более 20 акров). А первый бассейн на палубе водного судна был установлен в 1907 г. (круизный лайнер Адриатика). ⠀ Конечно современные стационарные бассейны сильно отличаются от тех, что были раньше. ⠀ Они оснащены водными аттракционами, трамплинами, горками, противотоками и устройствами для создания искусственных волн. Дезинфекция, фильтрация и подогрев воды, гигиеническая обработка чаши плавательного бассейна стали практически полностью автоматизированными. Появились эффективные и безопасные средства по уходу за водой, предотвращающие развитие водорослей, регулирующие кислотность содержимого бассейна, коагулянты и тесты. Ciò che è emerso è stato che la maggior parte degli atleti sperimenta stati di disidratazione più o meno importanti durante l’attività sportiva e che addirittura molti di loro arrivassero già disidratati all’allenamento stesso.🥵 ❗Per questo motivo è estremamente importante curare il proprio stato di idratazione❗ Si possono distinguere diversi tipi di bevande sportive presenti in commercio, che possono essere divise in ipotoniche, isotoniche e ipertoniche: le bevande ipotoniche sono quelle che hanno un’osmolarità, cioè una quantità di soluti, inferiore a quella del plasma e che permettono una rapida reidratazione;🥤 le bevande isotoniche sono quelle che hanno un’osmolarità pari a quella del plasma umano e reidratano rapidamente senza alterare la concentrazione di soluti presente naturalmente nel plasma umano;🥤 le bevande ipertoniche sono infine quelle che contengono soluti in quantità maggiore rispetto al plasma umano e che contengono al loro interno, oltre che elettroliti, anche carboidrati utili a fornire energia a lungo termine.🥤 Tra tutte le bevande, quella dalle caratteristiche ideali per fronteggiare la disidratazione è senza dubbio una bevanda che sia: facilmente assorbibile a livello intestinale al fine di evitare spiacevoli inconvenienti come nausea o dolori addominali;😃 isotonica o lievemente ipotonica con il plasma e mai iperosmolare;🤗 caratterizzata dalla presenza di una minima quantità di carboidrati che può variare tra il 5 e l’8% senza comunque mai superare il 10% E voi??come vi reidratate? . . .
