Super excited for this collaboration with @got2b !They have teamed with an incredible charity @justlikeusuk to raise awareness for the beautiful young queer individuals across the nation and celebrate theirs and ours individuality. As a drag queen, being asked to support is an honour especially when I use a brand like got2b every time I get into drag, trust me when I say the glued blasting freeze hairspray is literally a godsend, and I use it in so many different ways it’s magic. But there is so much to got2b in their range to to play with so I chose some other items to showcase how phenomenal they are. After smoothing down the edges of my wig with the ultra glued styling gel, I gently made a pass with the hairdryer to ensure they stayed smooth. Yesterday, I Zoom-visited an “Introduction to Studies of Race, Migration, and Sexuality” class at Dartmouth taught by @gnebgne , and conducted a two-hour long experimental makeup tutorial and artist talk with @cheemobile . We talked about beauty, poetry, and mothers in a digital room of 40+ undergrads, professors, and non-dartmouth enthusiasts who were all following along, painting themselves and listening in a shared boudoir moment. In the end, we did a group drag performance over Zoom and it was unbelievably touching. Hello family, Daniel Leon-Davis here. I am a co-founder + former co-owner of The Soze Agency and am excited to spend this next post with you... Our work with @fwdus began in 2014, when they came to Soze with this idea of Immigrant Heritage Month. They wanted to make this a cultural moment, so me and the other co-founders of Soze gathered together to begin these discussions, knowing we wanted this month to celebrate immigrants, their heritage and their legacies in this country. And we knew that FWD.us’s committment to standing with – and supporting – immigrants, would make them the best partner to build this project. After two years of celebrating Immigrant Heritage Month, we began conceptualizing what it would look like to harness the impact of some of our country’s most influential voices. Folks like Lupita Nyong’o, Guillermo Diaz, Tracee Ellis Ross, and many others joined us + our brilliant photographer, @cary_fukunaga, for our first photoshoot back in 2016. And we were able to feature those beautiful portraits at our pop-up in NYC to kick off Immigrant Heritage Month that year. We had the honor of working with the brilliant Naya Rivera, who directed one of our short films for this campaign. Now, especially, we feel her presence in the work and are so grateful to have had the opportunity to work alongside her. What humbled me the most was how we were able to turn this vision, and passion, into something real; something that transcended where we were born and, instead, joined us together as one community – all of us, standing with immigrants.
