A few finished TJ headjoints made from Cocobolo and Mopane wood heads back from the fabulous English headjoint maker Andrew Oxley who has been cutting the embouchure holes on these and also our wooden piccolo heads. If you’ve got a TJ ‘C’ flute with a six digit serial number then get in touch as we’ve got two headjoints that we are looking to send out for testing. On the car ride to Barnabas my sister and I were talking about camp and campers and I told her wouldn’t it be so cool if they paired me with Zac again. Then it turns out they give me my welcome packet and guess who’s name was on it Zac! I’m couldn’t contain my excitement as I was just so ready to hug and be reunited. When I saw Zac’s face his jaw dropped as later I asked him what he thought and he felt like this was all a dream- that the lord allowed us to be together again. I just finished this epic new kite-foilboard. 33”•16.5”. 3.2lb ready to ride with traction. It is paulownia wood, with Osage orange and black locust accents, and a beautiful satin finish. Cork rails, and cork deck. The deck is laser-etched with graphics that are generated algorithmically by a computer program that I wrote. Dear Friends and Family, Many of you know, I grew up in a small town, a truly unique area where American sub cultures are proudly celebrated. Where even three, four, five, generations later you put 100 of us in a room and you will get people who will say I’m Portuguese, I’m Polish, I’m Puertorican I’m Italian, I’m Irish, I’m Dominican, Im Greek, I’m Chinese, I’m Mexican etc etc.. even if there’s 100 people from same group in one room rarely and (hometown people) correct me if I’m wrong do you ever hear someone say I’m American or I’m white first. I know that this is true because every summer as a kid I ate at everyone’s food festivals all the way through August. We’re not perfect at some point or another we’ve had cultural differences or riffs or whatever but ultimately in my town we embrace each other’s cultures we share recipes and before you know it A Polipuertoguese baby is born. If you come from a sub-culture melting pot proud town like mine you’ve probably embraced the idea that although we may be different culturally being American and flying our red white and blue flag is what unites us, it does, that is beautiful. This might be true in a lot of communities, but Unfortunately a lot of our black brothers and sisters all over the country have been telling us simply that they don’t have that same experience. They can’t be black, proud and American and it’s not fair. I urge everyone to please simply tell our Black American siblings that we see them we hear them and we are ready at the waiting to help AMPLIFY their message. Don’t lose momentum together we can continue to bridge the divide for love peace and equality. To my black friends continue to be LOUD PROUD and UNAPOLOGETICALLY Black. Grow your own elderberry shrubs from cuttings! This is a really simple method for growing these amazing medicinal berries right in your own backyard! 🍇 ⁕ Elder can also be grown from starts or seeds. Since blue elderberry is native here and grows like a weed, we planted a couple of black elderberry shrubs in our backyard, so that we could have the best of both worlds. One we grew from a cutting that we got from a friend, and the other from a start that we ordered. They are both growing wonderfully, and we have a nice harvest of black elderberries this season! 💜 ⁕ You can get cuttings from wild elderberry shrubs, or from a backyard plant if you know someone who grows them. These cuttings in my hand are from the black elderberry plants in our backyard. We will root them and plant a couple more in our yard, and give away the rest to our neighbors. “WHOOOP it’s Bake Off tonight”, I just said to my two youngest... “why does it matter when it’s on, you can just watch it whenever...” 😳😳 The concept of a programme being on at a certain time and watching it “live on tv” is unfathomable to them. HEATHENS!!!! No wonder none of them give two shiny sh*ts about being on time for anything. We’re raising the Mañana Generation. Imagine never experiencing that crushing moment when you realise that your mum has recorded Coronation Street over half of 90210 (the original series obvs 😉) Or watching the last of the series of Dallas, only to realise it ran out of tape 5 mins before the end and you were the no-hoper next day in school who DIDN’T KNOW WHAT HAD HAPPENED (no kids, we couldn’t text a mate to find out 🙄) They do not know they are born. And whilst we’re on the Netflix, what am I going to watch now that I’ve finished The Fall? (last episode.. 😱😱😱😱😱😱 no spoilers being given...) I made the husband start Schitts Creek with me again and had to endure him chewing his way through the first episode (it was like dragging a truculent toddler round the supermarket). The Abacus was invented during the Ming dynasty in China around 1300BC, and quickly became a practical calculating tool that was critical in their advancement of technology. It is unlikely that the people using them as originally intended could have predicted that their use as a calculating device would be superseded by it’s use as a children’s toy, but it’s a crazy world we live in! How the ancients actually used an abacus for complex calculations remains a mystery 🧐, but we do know that children can use them as a great introduction to counting, moving the beads 1 by 1, or 2 by 2, for example. 👶 To begin with, young children will most likely enjoy bashing the beads, moving them with their palms, and enjoying the noise it makes. As they start to improve their fine motor skills encourage them to move the beads individually and challenge their pincer grip.
