Today is National Good Neighbor Day! This day acknowledges and celebrates the importance of a good neighbor. It is a blessing to have a good neighbor, but it is even a greater thing to BE a good neighbor. I hope you celebrate with me today ✌🏻 Oh Mr. Rogers! How I love you and loved learning from you as a child. Who knows more about being a good neighbor than this guy?! I love this quote so much because it is so true. There are some very incredible neighbors out there who are helpers. The hubby and I are very lucky to be surrounded by some awesome neighbors. They have helped us in so many ways with the animals, snow blowing the sidewalk, house sitting, borrowing tools, and the list goes on and on. We too, help out our neighbors any time we can. I will never not help someone in a time of need. Big or small. So, if any of my neighbors are reading this “Thank you! A really wonderful thing happened the other day. I got a call from a woman in Wisconsin saying she saw my pictures online of her old friend and wanted to see if I could get her contact information so she could mail her a letter. Her friend I photographed was Sister Jeanne Morreall. She has been fostering children who have physical and developmental disabilities for about 30 years. The woman on the phone had been looking through old papers at her desk since shes been quarantined and found something about Sister Jeanne. She hadnt seen her in over 60 years - they were neighbors growing up in Rochester. It just so happens when she googled she found my photos from 2017 on my old website. I called Sister Jeanne and got a chance to catch up with her since I hadnt spoken to her in a while. I was happy to find out that her and her foster children were doing well during these unusual times. We all compare ourselves all the time.⠀ ⠀ I believe a better advice is When you compare yourself with others, try to see the bigger picture.⠀ ⠀ What I mean by this is that we usually just compare one thing about us with one thing about someone else. ⠀ ⠀ We see how big someone elses muscles are and we feel bad about our own bodies for example. What we miss in comparisons like this it that the guy with the big muscles might have them because he feels so much anger in his life that he has to take it out in the gym. Or maybe he feels so insecure about his personality that he needs to work out really hard to feel that he is worth something.⠀ ⠀ We dont know. We just see the muscles.⠀ ⠀ So next time you compare yourself with someone else, ask yourself, what do I have that this person dont have?
