Its called Constellation and I am blonde AND an Aquarian, so...theres THAT. Airplanes take us to dream destinations.. They also bring the people we love to us. They are majestic and powerful, but they are also beautiful at rest on a tarmac. No matter how many times I have flown, I am always filled with a sense of magic and wonder that such a thing is possible. I am thrown back to that scene in Mary Poppins, when laughter causes human liftoff. I love the beautiful curves of an airplane and the cross-like intersection of wings and body, brings imagery of angels in the clouds. The special backstory for this particular choice is that it, after Pearl Harbor, when the United States entered World War 11, Lockheed Aircraft Corporation assembly lines were taken over by the American government for the war effort. The Lockheed L-049 Constellation was requisitioned and designated as the C-69 and was to be used for equipment and personnel transport by the United States Army Air Forces. In 1944, Howard Hughes, who was one of the key people in the development of the Constellation, and owner of TWA Airlines, flew the aircraft from Burbank to Washington DC in less than 7 hours as a publicity stunt. The aircraft was painted in full TWA livery, still retaining its military serial number. His co-pilot was Jack Frey, President of TWA, and Hughes then-girlfriend, movie star Ava Gardner, was also along for the ride. Another C-69 arrived at Wright Field and picked up Orville Wright, who was allowed to control the aircraft momentarily, on what would be his last flight. A 3rd Constellation was sent on a Transatlantic flight from NYC to Paris in 1945. The flight took less than 15 hours and was flown by a TWA crew. Intriguingly magnificent. Liebe Freundïnnen , die Stille der letzten Wochen nach dem „Grande Finale“ wurde durch den Knall unserer umfallenden Stühle nach einem Blick auf den Überweisungsbeleg von Startnext durchbrochen. Das Geld ist da – juchhu! Hier nochmal megasternenhageljahrhunderteiszeitmäßigen Dank an euch alle, die ihr uns so zahlreich unterstützt und begleitet! Um ein bißchen Licht in den dichten Nebel unserer Finanzlage zu bringen, möchten wir über die geplante Verwendung der unglaublichen Summe von 113.971,00 € ein bißchen was erzählen: Nach Abzug von Gebühren und Transaktionsbereinigungen sind ca. 100.000 € bei uns angelangt. Für jedes Goodie fallen unterschiedliche Umsatzsteuergebühren an und manche sind noch in der Produktion (die natürlich auch Geld kostet). Nach Abzug dieser Produktionskosten und Steuern werden wir wie angekündigt 10% der Spendensumme an ausgewählte Organisationen (die wir auch hier benennen werden) weiterspenden. Seit Beginn des Lockdowns haben wir die meisten laufenden Kosten senken oder stornieren können, aber einige Dinge laufen natürlich auch weiter. Einen Teil unserer laufenden Kosten konnten wir stunden und müssen sie erst später entrichten. Die Mietkosten bis Ende des Jahres belaufen sich auf netto rund 42.000 €. Das meiste Geld geht an die Hamburg Kreativgesellschaft, dort gewährt man uns eine 3-monatige Stundung, aber bisher keine weiteren Erlässe – wir sind weiter in Gesprächen. Obwohl nach wie vor fast alle Arbeit ehrenamtlich läuft, haben wir trotz Kurzarbeitergeld für die wenigen festen Mitarbeiter*innen noch Personalkosten um die 1000€ monatlich. Gleichzeitig haben wir noch laufende Kredite für die damalige Instandsetzung der Gebäude und müssen weiterhin Geld für die Erhaltung einplanen. Nach derzeitiger Rechnung verbleiben ca. 20.000 €, welche wir in die Zukunft investieren möchten. Dies bedeutet also, dass wir es bis Ende diesen Jahres schaffen, aber voraussichtlich nicht darüber hinaus, falls sich die Umstände nicht maßgeblich verändern. Dafür sind nicht nur wir, sondern auch viele andere Menschen und Institutionen aus dem Kulturbereich auf die Politik angewiesen und wir werden nicht aufhören dies zu thematisieren! - @suedpol_hamburg on Instagram

Cops willingly choose their profession and when they finish their shift they can clock out, go home, take their uniform off, and continue with their lives. You can walk by an off-duty or undercover cop and not even know what their job is. There is a stark difference between Black lives and “blue lives”, one exists and the other does not. I can’t believe I have to say this but being a policeman/policewoman is a job, it is not a race. Black people can not go home and not be Black anymore; they did not willingly choose to be a Black person. They were born Black, they will live their lives as Black people, and they will die Black. There is a stark difference between Black lives and “blue lives”, one exists and the other does not. Saying “blue lives matter” is a mockery to the Black Lives Matter movement — it is not a movement within itself.
