Williamson County Sheriff Robert Chody was indicted Monday on charges of tampering evidence in the case of Javier Ambler, a 40-year-old Black man who died in custody last year. The indictment accuses @sheriffchody of destroying footage that showed deputies chasing and using force against the Pflugerville resident that was captured for the reality TV show Live PD in March 2019. Jason Nassour, former general counsel with the county attorneys office, faces the same charge. Chody was booked and released after posting a $10,000 bond. His indictment was first reported by the @statesman. Deputies J.J. Johnson and Zach Camden chased Ambler for 22 minutes for allegedly failing to dim his headlights to oncoming traffic. When they caught Ambler, they used tasers on him four times, though he protested that he had a heart condition and could not breathe. He died shortly after. The deputies are under investigation. In 1912 the magazine Mother Earth covered an uprising in San Diego, highlighting a free-speech movement (the San Diego Free Speech Fight) that was in response to the right-wing militia/police counter-movement that had an overwhelming influence on culture at the time. Emma Goldman, upon learning of this struggle, made her way from New York, passing through the turbulent Chicago, and landed in Los Angeles, setting her sight on the smaller-city-cousin which was SD. There had been many years of demonstration, mostly in the form of the old “soap-box” oratory, which had been the thorn in the side of the old guard of conservative gatekeepers. This division came to a head in 1912, fueled by disagreement in labor unionization with the IWW. Coupled with the negation in respect for the working-class, and culminating in the insistence upon the “boot-strap” success culture so prevalent in early California at the time, division and strife was unfurled. The old-guard got wind of Goldman traveling by train to SD from LA and was intercepted by police. She was apprehended. Her companion was too. He was held and tortured by the police, with the help of an armed militia, and was beaten so severely until near death. The crime was information. Informing the masses of the exploitation precededing and awaiting the working people. Emma Goldman was never to see the soap-box oratory of San Diego (nor the melee that was altogether happening a mere few miles south of where she was heading). She was left with an idea and a promise. This instance, one that has spanned many years(incomprehensible in today’s short-term attention span world), lives on today. It’s clear in the ways in which our governance functions, our justice systems runs, our policing is frought with violence and suspicion. Let us gather the wisdom of our forebearers to recognize injustice that preceded us and may succeed us if a change is not insisted upon. No, not every product will *actually* be gifted (although I really have been known to send random food shipments to people who I think need to know about a brand 😂) but the exercise helps you think about if your product is positioned so well that people could immediately think of someone in their life who it would be perfect for. . Sometimes people need to take matters into their own hands. I’m so grateful for these activists. In 2014, Point Reyes National Park allowed HUNDREDS of Tule Elk to die of dehydration. How cruel, how is that conservation? They are trapped, fenced in so they don’t graze on land that is being leased to ranchers to graze cattle. Now @pointreyesnps are picking for profit ag businesses over the well being of the elk by actually putting a plan in place to kill them as their population is outgrowing the area they are trapped in. @acausi wasn’t just a supremely talented, generous, fun human: he was an experience. Tributes from some of the biggest names in sports are pouring in (and if stadiums could talk or cry, well, they’d be doing the same). That’s because he was an unstoppable friend making machine who had the social skills of an ace politician but the sincerity and heart of a sister of mercy. Quite simply, he made you feel awesome. It was his gift. Behind the camera he was prolific and if you were blown away by a back page, chances are, Anthony took that iconic picture. If he knew you were in a stadium, he’d find you, take a pic and text it to you by the end of the game. A generous soul who loved what he did and made it all look so easy. I loved every minute of every assignment we worked together. I loved every giant bear hug I received from him. And I loved every time he lit up talking about his wife and adorable children (in his thick Brooklyn accent, of course). He always ended every conversation with “think up a story where we can work together, ok.” I’m devastated there will be no more. RIP Anthony. - @kirflem on Instagram

With so much uncertainty, we wanted to share what has been driving us and our mission to stay in the fight against COVID-19. The Santa Cruz County Veterans Memorial Building and our Veteran community for decades have stood up against evil. We have looked into the face of danger and said…”Not on our watch”. Since 1932, we have been a place where the community comes together. A place where heroes are remembered. A place where no one is left behind. Today, we are overwhelmed with how the community has come together in this time of need. Healthcare workers, First responders, the City, the County, fellow Non-Profits, Community-owned businesses, our Neighbors, and many Volunteers are all working together to stand up against our common enemy. We are driven by the gratitude and appreciation for all that we serve. We are driven by the faces of those who felt forgotten and now know they are not alone. We are driven by those who stand beside us and continue to put in the long hours and late nights. Our future has a lot of uncertainty. We receive new information every day that changes our reality and frankly is hard to even imagine. Many things will change and many will never be the same but, some of these changes are bringing our community closer. They are creating work that will need good people looking for jobs. They will create new community leaders and new ways to collaborate. A new world where we work together, love deeper, and more often. #MedalOfHonor Lloyd Seibert was born on May 23, 1889 in Caledonia, Michigan. Seibert first enlisted in the California National Guards 7th Infantry in January 1906. On September 26, 1918, while serving with the U.S. Army, Company F, 364th Infantry, 91st Division, in Epinonville, France, Sergeant Seibert, suffering from illness, remained with his platoon and led his men with the highest courage and leadership under heavy shell and machinegun fire. With two other soldiers he charged a machinegun emplacement in advance of their company, he himself killing one of the enemy with a shotgun and capturing two others. In this encounter he was wounded, but he nevertheless continued in action, and when a withdrawal was ordered he returned with the last unit, assisting a wounded comrade. Later in the evening he volunteered and carried in wounded until he fainted from exhaustion. On 26 August 1937, Master Sergeant Seibert was appointed to the rank of Warrant Officer while assigned to the 1st Cavalry (Mechanized) at Fort Knox, Kentucky. He would later rise to the rank of Chief Warrant Officer - the rank he held upon retirement from the U.S. Army. Seibert is buried at the San Francisco National Cemetery in San Francisco, California. The newest @blade_magazine magazine is out and I’m excited to be a part of it. Over the years I’ve been in Blade magazine often but this is particularly special. Not because of myself but because my mentor and friend @rickdunkerley is on the cover. Rick is the reason I’m a knife maker. He was my little league baseball coach and started teaching me when I was 11. Since then Rick has vaulted to the top of the knife industry. What another amazing week in the OBX at the @piratescovebillfishtournament . Im just so grateful for the opportunity to attend again this year and even land and release a few Billfish along the way. Its always hard for me to be recognized or singled out for something so many others deserve more in life. Be a GOOD human, help others achieve their goals, dont judge, and simply be kind to everyone. Its pretty simple... When my CANCER battle began early last Summer I had no idea where it would lead, but I knew I could provide inspiration, strength, HOPE, and make a positive difference in at least one life along my journey. Im just humbled, grateful, and so thankful for each and every single day. Thank you for every message, greeting on the docks, and all the love and support during my crazy life ride. Tomorrow is a BIG day with my first PET/CT scan since my original CANCER diagnosis. Ill thankfully learn more information about my life going forward and hopefully be able to get a little more sleep at night upon the results. Regardless, theres NO stopping me charging this life one way or another! Here we GO... Upton’s Naturals opposes a law requiring producers include a label on packages saying the product is plant-based that is as large and prominent as the food’s brand name. The company already labels its products as 100% vegan and claims the law violates the First Amendment of the Constitution.
