Welcoming our newest Family member 🐶🎉🎈 Baby puppy was seized from a dodgy breading syndicate where the animals were all kept and bred in appalling filthy conditions and were likely to be raised to cage fight. All the animals were luckily rescued by the AWL. And how lucky were we to be given first dibs on this beautiful 8week tiny pup separated from his litter only 4 days prior 💔 Too young for official adoption or shelter kennels so we are fostering him to better health and happiness before we are legally able to adopt him as our own. So far weve done his vaxing up to date, all worming, flea and tick treatments, microchipped, general health vet checks, strict gormet puppy diet 😂and is booked in for desexing at 6mnths. He is the most sweetest thing ever and we all adore him. So gentle an clever for such a little pup. He is also deaf. N I N E M O N T H S ...welp... it has dawned on me we are so close to having a one year old. Does that mean it’s time to stop saying I’ve just had a baby?? Nine of the most magical months, nine of the most challenging months and so many more to come. This month our little Strawberry has changed so much all over again. It’s like one night we went to bed with our tiny baby and woke up with a Strawberry full character. The cheeky little glint in your eye when we tell you no to ripping your bib off mid meal. The smirk you give as you reach for a phone or remote control. The giggles when you pull off Nanny and Poppy’s glasses waiting for them to put their glasses back on just so you can pull them off all over again. It’s hard to keep a serious face when you’re just so sweet yet so cheeky. You’re getting better at playing on your own, exploring cardboard boxes, carpet, floorboard, zips and tags but obviously none of the toys we actually paid for. It’s so exciting to watch you develop and explore new things. You are so so close to crawling forwards but I think you enjoy the extra snuggles when you get stuck under the couch because you’re still going backwards. Cucumbers are your absolute favourite with hot chips or mashed potato coming in at a close second. It’s now clear why all I craved were mashed potatoes when you were in my belly. Once again Aubrey Jean, you have made us the happiest Mummas and we adore every moment with. 9 months out Vs in +some. . Pics slightly late & post even later (almost a month). . I’d been so looking forward to taking these pics & this milestone. It was one of those moments I’d thought about a million times over from early into the pregnancy but the moment came & went. I had little to no motivation to take them at all if I’m completely honest. . I’ve found it to be quite a difficult thing juggling complete gratitude for the baby we waited years for vs sadness that we waited so long for him & majority of our family & friends will have missed his entire first year of life. Oct/Nov was mostly spent at home until his 6 week needles were done. Late Dec/Jan/Feb the country was on fire & travelling to see Keiras family & many of our friends cancelled multiple times because of this. Mar to current covid & like everyone else in the world we have no idea how this will play out & when we can travel again or even when normality will return. . So we have him, he has us but we are very aware of & saddened by the adventures he’s missing out on with family in NSW & ACT. Also, no swimming or music lessons, no jelly bean gym & no play dates with his little baby friends. His first birthday has been cancelled, then venue closed. Will we even see everyone for Christmas, I don’t know? . It’s been an interesting 9 months having a baby born into a world that’s quite broken. Worrying about my return to work plagues my mind, will I make him sick? I thought that worry was mostly over after he was born, I’d survived patients with shingles, flu patients, superbugs, sleep deprivation, late disclosure chemotherapy & everything in between but here we are back to heightened concern. . At the end of the day, all the garbage of this world aside we are blessed with health, family (even if many are out of reach), a roof over our heads & a pantry bulging... So happy belated nine months (even though you’re nearly 10 months) Elijah, you are certainly our sunshine on these cloudy days. - @two_girls_and_a_faulty_stork on Instagram

Today is Emily’s birthday. (Adoption Day) Eight years ago today I brought her home and since she was “about 2” we’re calling this her 10th birthday. I’m so excited to share the photos of the morning that Arden was born. @sarahculver is a dear person in my life - a friend and a fellow photographer. I photographed the births of her second and third boys. Thankfully, Arden was born just before COVID-19 came in full force to the US. Tom and I were about to go out for a date night when Sarah started going into labor - we walked into a restaurant bar and literally no employees were around. We sat there for 10 minuets then decided to leave, and right as we left, Sarah texted me to let me know it was time to come over! So that worked out just right lol. It was a long night of her laboring, and shortly after the sun came up, Arden was born. He is now just over 6 months old and his dark hair has turned to auburn - he is the sweetest tiny addition to this family. I am so exited to watch him grow up. I don’t remember previously hearing about #nationaldaughtersday but apparently it’s celebrated this weekend. I wrote about not being able to see my mother for the Globe and Mail. This week has been lovely and intense with the book in the world and more and more I feel how powerfully I want my mother to be seen and known. I am not a perfect daughter, no one is, but I feel especially far from any possible ideal. Our relationship was, like all intimate relationships, complex and filled with contradictions. My mother did not want me to tell her story. I am compelled to tell her story. That has been complicated, but what is not complicated is my love for my mother; like my love for my son, it is overwhelming in its simplicity. I love my mother and telling stories is the best way I know how to love her. It is the best tool I’ve got to fight the pressures of erasure. I need to see my mother, and part of this act of witness, of recovery, is to invite you to see her too.
