The flight model of the @esas EUCLID High Gain Antenna successfully completed the test campaign in the Antenna test Centre in Rome and soon will be integrated into the EUCLID Service Module in the Turin’s clean room. A big bravo to the team! The flight model of the EUCLID HGAMA (High Gain Antenna Mayor Assembly) successfully completed the test campaign to support the TRB (Test Review Board). The antenna system includes a K-band High Gain Antenna (HGA) and a X-band low gain antenna (LGA) and is part of the EUCLID telemetry, tracking, and control (TT&C) subsystem. In few days the antenna will be shipped to Thales Alenia Space in Turin to be integrated into the EUCLID Service Module. . 🚀The EUCLID Spacecraft will be launched in the second half of 2022 . 🎯The antenna has successfully passed all functional and environmental tests and now is performing the final Radio-Frequency (RF) measurements in one of the near-field test range in the clean room of Thales Alenia Space in Rome. Among the main tests previously performed there are the deployment/steering test, the sine load, the acoustic load, the cold release in worst thermal condition and the thermal vacuum test Euclid is an ESA mission to map the geometry of the Universe and better understand the mysterious dark matter and dark energy, which make up most of the energy budget of the cosmos. The mission will investigate the distance-redshift relationship and the evolution of cosmic structures by measuring shapes and redshifts of galaxies and clusters of galaxies out to redshifts ~2, or equivalently to a look-back time of 10 billion years. In this way, Euclid will cover the entire period over which dark energy played a significant role in accelerating the expansion of the Universe #staytuned #spaceforlife #euclid # - @thalesaleniaspace on Instagram

もっと詳しく↓ http://stage.tksc.jaxa.jp/shisetsu/facilities/maintenance/smallEV.html With a total area of 9.7 million square meters (2,400 acres), the extensive Tanegashima Space Center is dotted with facilities such as the Vehicle Assembly Building, the Spacecraft Testing and Assembling Building and the Spacecraft and Fairing Assembling Building. So, we are dependent on cars and frequently drive for a short distance alone or with a small group. To move efficiently within the launch site, we are now introducing ultra-compact electric vehicles. **UPDATE: The launch was scrubbed and will be rescheduled.** ORIGINAL POST: Technologies to enable exact and soft landings on the Moon and other worlds will fly on Blue Origin’s next New Shepard suborbital rocket launch, currently targeted for 11:00 a.m. EDT Thursday, Sept. 24. The company’s live launch webcast will start at 10:30 a.m. and air on NASA Television and the agency’s website. The rockets flight path is relevant to lunar landings, providing a unique opportunity to mature sensors and algorithms for potential use on Artemis missions. NASA Langleys navigation Doppler lidar technology will be the second sensor system to fire up during the flight test. The new sensor uses a laser to enable precise soft landings on the Moon and Mars. Navigation Doppler lidar sends laser beams to the surface and detects the reflected returns to determine the lander’s velocity and altitude. The data from this test will let the team model how it will function during lunar landing and how it is affected by a planet’s atmosphere – in this case, Earth’s. 🔗 Link in bio for how to watch the flight test. It is named after the giant Enceladus of Greek mythology, the offspring of Gaia (Earth), and Uranus (Sky). . . Saturn the Giant 🚀 . 🔶 On May 25, 1961 U.S. president John Kennedy announced the goal of landing astronauts on the Moon by the end of the decade. By November 9, 1967 this Saturn V rocket was ready for launch and the first full test of its capabilities on the Apollo 4 mission. • 🔶 Its development directed by rocket pioneer Wernher Von Braun, the three stage Saturn V stood over 36 stories tall. It had a cluster of five first stage engines fueled by liquid oxygen and kerosene which together were capable of producing 7.9 million pounds of thrust. • 🔶 Giant Saturn V rockets ultimately hurled nine Apollo missions to the Moon and back again with six landing on the lunar surface. The first landing mission, Apollo 11, achieved Kennedys goal on July 20, 1969. ... Earthrise | William Anders, 1968 The photograph that changed the world. I first saw this photograph in 1999, minutes before we hit the year 2000, on a TV program that was probably showing the greatest pictures of the last millennia. It was shot on the Apollo 8 mission, and was the first time humanity saw their place in the Universe, through a high quality color image. It sparked a global movement, and brought the world together in watchfulness and care for our fragile galactic spaceship. Environmental awareness was never the same again. We had finally seen our home. This Earth Day, I want to share this iconic image, along with a few that I have shot, in the brief parts of the Earth that Ive been lucky to see, to remind us again of the beauty of our world. The Covid-19 pandemic has made all of us much more cognizant of the liberties we enjoyed and abused, without regards to consequences. Today, in this unprecedented crisis, while we sit at home as a global family, and wonder and reflect, the tiny vulnerable blue ball we call home recovers from the damage we inflicted on it. Lets hope that when we rejoin it, we bring our new perspective with us, and treat it in better ways than we did before. #covid_19 #pandemic #EarthDay #Earthrise #coronavirus #quarantine #billanders - @alampanah on Instagram

- Earth. Under your feet

I have never, not once in my life, had a phobia. Until now. And I’m gonna be honest, I never understood them, I always thought “get over it, it’s just a spider, etc. walk away.” Until l, of course myself, became severely claustrophobic. To the point my entire body broke out in sweat and I was drenched within 30 seconds and my face looked like a very ripe tomato...and I almost passed out while trying on my finished spacesuit and helmet for the first time. It is not just mental, it is very physical. BUT, our mental minds do control a lot, if not everything. After six months, I was not able to overcome my claustrophobia, but I was able to come to a type of meeting of the minds with it. When we calm our minds and sit with the fear, NOT try and push it away, we can sit with it in a different way, that makes it “doable”. Playing an astronaut in AWAY made me push into the sharp edges in a way I never thought it would. This was such an important lesson for me...in so many ways. I hope that in sharing this you might feel less alone in whatever it is that takes over your mind and therefore body. Be patient with yourself. #WeAreNeverInThisAlone #Away - @hilaryswank on Instagram

On this image, you can see the UESA Phoenix Space Station by Glenn Clovis (@glennclovis). 👨🏼🚀 This space station is a permanent space-bound way-point. Landing on Mars and then attempting to leave the surface again for the trip back to Earth consumed enormous amounts of fuel & water. This space station would provide a stopping point for Earth transports, subsequent travel would then be provided by the stations shuttles and capsules. 🚀 This station is capable of sustaining a crew of up to 120, providing for all their needs for prolonged periods. Housed within it various sections, the station stored and processed a variety of necessities 🌬️ Atmospheric gases 💧 Water storage & reclamation 🔁 CO2 🌊 Hydroponics 🛢️ Fuel for transports 🍇 Food 🛠️ Equipment stores There are 64 modules to provide for the crew quarters and secondary laboratories. 🔬 It also features a significant amount of protection from radiation and micro-meteorites. ☢️ A single, injectable micro fission reactor provided up to 110 MW of power to the station. ☣️ A secondary power source, provided by solar arrays around the top of the station. 🌞 In the event the reactor had to be ejected due to a meltdown, the arrays could provide enough operational power for the station until the replacement fission reactor could be delivered from Earth and installed. Во вторник, как вы уже слышали, Международная космическая станция выполнила экстренный маневр уклонения от «космического мусора». Расскажу об этом подробнее. [In English see the first comment] Есть специальные наземные службы, которые отслеживают объекты на орбите Земли размером до 10 см — они рассчитывают орбиты и прогнозируют вероятность столкновения.

I know your past haunts you, the memories, the taunts, everything comes back and it feels as though you can’t escape. But you don’t owe anyone anything, all you do is owe yourself the chance for you to be happy, for you to live again, for you to restart your life. That’s the beautiful thing about life, we choose when to press that restart button, and in that moment we simply start again. You forget everything. You draw a line and move on, growing from your mistakes, learning from your hurt. You have become a new person, you have killed yourself fighting the demons of your yesterday, you of anyone deserve happiness, you’ve got a whole future ahead of you, so don’t let the past ruin that, don’t let the memories taint moments tomorrow may bring. Everyday is a new start, every breath you take is a new beginning. { caption by: @thesmilingakh } . . .
