Like many people during this time of quarantine I’ve mainly been doing 2 things, trying to stay creative and cooking a lot. The only thing I’m doing more is the dishes! Here’s a shot messing around with the CRLS system of reflectors, Dedo Eflect and an Aputure 300D2 and 26deg Spotlight attachment mixed with existing daylight ambience from the windows. The 300D2 has been gelled with 1/4 CTS bringing the colour temp down to 4200-4300K. The daylight was 5500K and I shot this in RAW, at I think 4800K to get that warm/cool mix. I shot this with my Fujifilm XT3 with a Tiffen Black Satin 1/8, which I’ve been experimenting with further, and has quickly become one of my favourite lens diffusion’s. For the food people out there, and those curious, this is the raw ingredients to make Japanese Dashi stock which is a staple in Japanese cuisine (tons of umami!) and something I now make from scratch because it’s way better than the instant stuff and I enjoyably zen out while making it. It’s very hard to hear of the passing of Charles Straceny, he was 50yrs old. @chuckyblueeyes was part of the fabric of the bodybuilding and gym community in BC. He was a member of every gym in our current location for almost 20 years, and he joined us the day we opened. Wise, experienced, respectful, loyal, and kind. He treated the members and staff like family. He was one of those regulars that had a permanent seat at the juice bar, and all the staff members knew his shake. It was impossible to be around him without seeing him smile and hearing his laugh. He brought those with him wherever he went. We will make sure to blast the Van Halen and Motley Crüe a notch louder in memory of one of the best members any gym has ever had. I drew the bighorn sheep tag for a wilderness unit in Idaho for 2020. I needed a gear upgrade and to get in real shape for the hunt. I purchased a new Stone Glacier pack and with it learned about the MTNTOUGH 45-70 Heavy Pack online training program. What a blessing! The program was perfectly targeted for the strength, balance, physical and mental endurance I would need for this hunt. • It was tough and I knew I was getting stronger and my cardio was improving. My wife wanted me to get a physical before the hunt, I’ll be 50 in November, my blood pressure was 121/79 and pulse rate was 52, lowest numbers I’ve seen in years. • However, I was blown away by how strong and pain free I was on the hunt. I ended up solo for the hunt and was a little concerned about getting in and back out with a ram. I went in with a 65# pack not counting water. It took me two days to get in, and two and a half long days to shuttle out two 90# + loads. No strains, pain or weakness...I felt like Superman. I couldn’t believe it. Thanks MTNTOUGH! My heart hurts today as we remember a really good person. Todd Shoberg was a fellow chef, a proud father, a strong athlete, a loving partner, and all around positive force. I saw him frequently at farmers markets and I have have great respect for the food he crafted. He loved great ingredients and honored them simply and in the most delicious way possible. I have fond memories of him and Kira sitting at the kitchen counter in our restaurant, always gracious, kind and sweet together. This year hasn’t made sense. Covid, curfews, racial injustice, horrible fires, the election, all are impacting our psyches. But losing such a young, talented, bright individual just does not compute. Landesmeisterschaft NRW 2020 Als bekannt wurde, dass es eine LM dieses Jahr geben wurde haben wir uns relativ spontan entschieden diese noch mitzunehmen, da es mein letzter Wettkampf als Junior werden würde. Die Vorbereitung lief in meinen Augen durchwachsen, was auch an den neuen Umständen mit Praktikum gelegen haben könnte. Schlussendlich spielt das auch keine Rolle. 😂 In der Kniebeuge konnte ich mir einen 10 Meet PR abholen und 225kg ganz passabel in die Wertung bringen. 215kg haben sich by the way schneller bewegt als 205kg im opener, mehr Gewicht hilft. #saiens Auf der Bank gingen die beiden ersten Versuche super entspannt. 125kg und 132,5kg (2,5kg Meet PR, krank) haben sich jeweils wie letzte warm ups bewegt. 140kg leider nicht gedrückt, Bankdrücken ist und bleibt unwichtig. 😇 Im Kreuzheben habe ich von einem neuen Landesrekord geträumt, anhand der vergangenen Trainingsblöcke auch vielleicht an einem Sahnetag möglich gewesen. 255kg im Opener sehr leicht in den Lockout gehoben, 275kg im zweiten Versuch auch ganz ok für einen 5kg PR und einen abgerissenen Daumen #hooklife 280kg hätten mich niemals glücklich gestimmt, also wollte ich alles auf eine Karte setzen und 290,5kg aufgeladen haben. Trotz Todeshype und CL500 waren diese einfach nicht mehr drin. Ich habe alles versucht und kann mir am ende des Tages nichts vorwerfen. Danke an Moritz, den besten Coach den ich mir vorstellen kann. We had a tough call to make earlier this week. One of our gilts (first time momma pigs) was in labor in our farrowing barn, but she was struggling. . We’ve had a really good year so far with our breeding pigs and farrowing, healthy litters and great survival rates - it’s not an easy thing to accomplish with pastured pigs. . But this pig had been in labor for awhile with no signs of piglets. I checked her birth canal and could feel a piglet but the bone structure of the momma seemed unlikely she would be able to deliver. . We consulted with a veterinarian and decided her anatomy was not conducive to farrowing piglets. We made the difficult call to put her down and immediately perform a cesarean-section to deliver the piglets. We wouldn’t be able to get a vet out with proper anesthesia for hours, and she was in pain. It’s not recommended you would breed a pig in this scenario again, given the bone structure, and the most humane decision was to put her down. . We jumped into action after Brian swiftly and skillfully put the pig down and the girls came to help with the piglets, as we were all hoping for the best - but in these situations you never know. . We delivered four live piglets, breaking the sac and umbilical cord on each one and Brian handed them one by one to the girls who cleared their mouths and rubbed their chests to get them breathing. . We had another momma pig (a seasoned sow) in the barn who also delivered that morning, but had an unusually small litter. We were able to graft these piglets on to her - and I’m thankful to report all four orphans are alive and well. . These days ranching are tough. It’s never easy to make a tough decision, but when suffering and bleak outcomes are involved - you must make the call quickly. 26 SEP Walter Reed Army Institute of Research deploys to Vietnam. . In 1965, an innovative concept in field medicine was launched in the form of a team of highly-trained, multi-disciplined AM-EDD specialists who were assigned to the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research and attached to the 5th Special Forces Group (Abn) while in Vietnam. I had been eyeing the @hrttacticalgear RAC plate carrier (link in bio for details) for awhile now. I’m pretty picky about cummerbunds and shoulder straps. I struggled to find something that was adjustable enough to be tight and secure on 160 lbs soy boys like myself. Having only owned 10 or so carriers myself, I came to realize that they all aren’t created equal. There’s considerable difference between stuff you play Airsoft in and gear real men go to work in. There’s so much thought and work that goes into the way carriers are designed that it humbles me even wear it. There are men who are having to wear this type of protection on themselves everyday for their lives sake. I want to say thank you to all of our service men and women who wear a plate carrier on a daily basis. It means that you are doing work of great service, which requires great sacrifice. Special thanks to @hrttacticalgear for this beautiful carrier. The M81 looks better in real life then it does in person. It feels tight and I love the features. I’m having to try different plates because not all plates fit flush. The mag inserts are very tight and I appreciate how deep the rifle mags can be inserted. I have confidence that with running and abuse, everything will remain in its place. There’s a lot of different front panel inserts you can browse about for the military and LEO guys out there who need different setups. There are police officers out there who abuse their power, are dishonest, and whose actions only divide and antagonize those they have sworn to “protect and serve.” I completely agree that police officers like this need to be REMOVED from their duties and PUNISHED to the fullest extent of the law. Był zajazd fizyczny i ogromna dawka wiedzy. . Wśród uczestników można było zauważyć chwile zwątpienia i chęć rezygnacji ale w ciągu szkolenia staramy się podchodzić do każdego uczestnika indywidualnie i motywować go na tyle, aby pokonał granice swojej wytrzymałości. . Wiadomo, nie zawsze się to udaje, bo należy pamiętać, że jesteśmy w stanie zrobić tyle na ile pozwoli nam głowa i nie zawsze sprawność fizyczna jest wyznacznikiem naszych możliwości. . Bardzo miło mi jest napisać, że wszystkim uczestnikom udało się dotrwać do końca szkolenia, lecz nie każdemu udało się zdać egzamin końcowy. . Polega on na tym, że szkolony ma samodzielnie odnaleźć wyznaczone punkty i dotrzeć do nich w limicie czasu, co na wyczerpaniu organizmu jest walką. . W ciągu szkolenia uczestnicy są w stanie sprawdzić i przesunąć swoje granice wytrzymałości, co przyciąga nie tylko osoby starające się dostać do Wojsk Specjalnych ale i osoby, które chcą przeżyć przygode. . Dla przykładu na tym szkoleniu, pojawiła się osoba która pierwszy raz w życiu była w górach. . Często uczestnicy wracają aby zawalczyc o certyfikat, który nie tak łatwo jest otrzymać albo porawić swój wynik i to szkolenie właśnie przyciągneło takiego śmiałka! . Rok temu nie ukończył preselekcji. Tym razem przyjechał dużo lepiej przygotowany i jako jeden z czterech osób otrzymał certyfikat ukończenia!!! . Po szkoleniach wielu z Was pisze, że wróci zawalczyc o certyfikat. Trzymam Was za słowo ! . W trakcie szkoleń regularnie realizowane są takie zagadnienia jak: ✅nawigacja w górach wg mapy i kompasu w dzień i w nocy, na zmęczeniu i w deficycie czasu, ✅wyposażenie do selekcji ✅sposoby radzenia sobie ze stresem, ✅metody pokonywania granic wytrzymałości ✅techniki wysokościowe . . Na koniec, chciałbym podziękować i pogratulować wszystkim uczestnikom ogromnego zaangażowania. Pamiętajcie ja za was nie przeszedłem tych kilometrów i nie zrobiłem tego wszystkiego.
