How Quickly a Call Can Change. Last night, we took a report about a stolen vehicle and about four hours later, deputies spotted the vehicle at Southwest Plaza and attempted to stop it. At one point, the stolen vehicle pulled in toward some loading docks, but then the driver suddenly put the vehicle into reverse and slammed into the driver’s side of our marked patrol car causing the damage in the photos shown. Though our deputy took a direct hit, he was medically cleared after being taken to the hospital and did not suffer any serious injuries. Today he says he’s pretty sore, but thankfully will make a full recovery. The driver of the vehicle was taken into custody and booked into the Jefferson County Detention Facility on charges of 1st Degree Aggravated Motor Vehicle Theft, Eluding, 3 counts of Criminal Attempt 1st Degree Assault, and 2nd Degree Assault on a Peace Officer among other charges. We share this story to show you different aspects of our job because we want our community to understand what we do. We never know what each call will bring, especially a traffic stop, but we train and prepare for every scenario we can imagine. We do this to keep our community safe. There is a diversity of people out there. I have a lot of loved ones who are out there trying to deescalate situations. My loved ones are getting beaten with batons and hit by bullets when they are not a threat. Authorities need to be able to have some restraint. These police are perpetuating the same violence that they say that they are against. I am reading story after story of police crossing the line. No. Trump is wrong. They are not all thugs out there. Slide 1: (🎥: @nbrown1474) The NYPD are apparently now being instructed to arrest us with no cause, simply for assembling. In the last 4 days– doesnt matter if we‘re on the sidewalk, crosswalk, or street. Prior to even gathering, there are droves of vans, cops & riot squads waiting to arrest us. This is your tax money, people. Flushing 1st Amendment rights down the drain. Slide 2: (🎥: @dia.nyc ) In Times Square, after some powerful speeches about the atrocities being committed in Georgia with forced hysterectomies on detainees, and general I.C.E. abuses – The minute our bikers walked into the crosswalk, cops tackled & cuffed them. Slides 4 & 5: bikers @luisgalilei, @hunter.flute @just_grace24 being led away. They played their usual 1984 recordings about not blocking the roadway, while all protestors stood on the curb and the army of #cops were the only ones blocking the street. And if they know about the I.C.E atrocities (which they seem to be clueless about). And them standing mute, not replying as usual. Just following orders apparently... We backed up from them en masse & reassembled in the square. Likewise they attempt to re-mobilize, surely to block us from marching. So we organized by linking arms and heading to the street to non-violently protest as weve been doing every day for 4 months. As authorities continue to search for a suspect who shot two sheriffs deputies point-blank in Compton, #SoCalin17 host @alexcoheninla talks with Ron Hernandez, president of the Association for Los Angeles Deputy Sheriffs, about how the chilling incident affected the rank and file represented by the union. He said deputies are not taking the shooting personally and that theyre also not looking for revenge, as some might think. A quick review of Pornhub’s own recent annual report tells us that the search term “ebony” ranked in the top 10 search terms in 2019, and “interracial” porn was 76% more popular in the United States last year than everywhere else in the world. In some regions, searches for “big ass ebony” increased by 186% in 2019, and there was also a 149% increase in searches for “thick latina.” Based on expert reviews of pornography featuring Black men and women where specific parts of their anatomy are mentioned, or specific races of people of color are highlighted in the category or description, in many instances, this content shows extremely offensive stereotypes of the performer’s race or ethnicity, and contains deeply racist themes. According to our sources, Pornhub’s search bar auto-populates suggested terms with the n-word if a user types it in. And, recently, information circulating on Twitter has shown that Pornhub reportedly approved ads and videos to be monetized that contained the name “George Floyd” in the title. Combined with the pouring rain, we were nervous that the BLM crowd just might not show up. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ As you can see, Kalispell showed up.⁣ ⁣ ⁣⁣ The event was spearheaded by a 17-year-old local black high schooler and her friends, none of whom had ever been activists before, and clearly took on a life of its own from there. All in a county that unfortunately has recently received unwanted attention for being home to white nationalist groups (I initially wrote “abhorrent white nationalist groups,” but the extra adjective seemed redundant). CHARLOTTE POLICE WILL STOP USING TEAR GAS, NO-KNOCK WARRANTS Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police will no longer use tear gas or “CS gas” during protests, and also will discontinue the use of no-knock warrants during investigations. “We have pulled the chemical agent when it comes to riot control and dispersal of crowds,” CMPD Chief Johnny Jennings said Tuesday during a City Council committee meeting. Tear gas, or 2-chlorobenzylidene malononitrile, is an aerosol that has a stronger effect and a wider dispersal area than pepper spray, or oleoresin capsaicin spray, which will continue to be used, Jennings said. Jennings said police policy would be amended to reflect the ban on using tear gas during crowd control. He said while CMPD does not use no-knock warrants frequently, the policy also has been rewritten to discontinue their use. 𝑪𝒆𝒓𝒐𝒑𝒆𝒈𝒊𝒂 𝑾𝒐𝒐𝒅𝒊𝒊 𝒗𝒂𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒈𝒂𝒕𝒂 (𝒂𝒌𝒂 𝒗𝒂𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒈𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝑺𝒕𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒐𝒇 𝑯𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒔) 🌿 • I think I’ve twisted my hand a little too much for this shot 📸 🤚😆 • 𝑯𝒐𝒘 𝒕𝒐 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒑𝒂𝒈𝒂𝒕𝒆 𝑺𝒕𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒐𝒇 𝑯𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒔: 𝟏. Cut a few strings just below a node (point where the leaf meets the stem) with sharp clean scissors ✂️ If you already find little tubers growing on the strings, cut below the aerial tubers („beads“). Make sure to have at least 1-2 nodes under water, bc that’s where the roots will appear. 𝟐. Remove the lower leaves of each string (prevents rotting and helps to keep the water fresh)🌿 𝟑. Let the cuttings callus over for a few hours (let it dry/ lie around). 𝟒. Fill a vessel/ jar with lukewarm (rain) water and put the cuttings in the water 💦 𝟓. Place the vessel/ jar in a bright spot with indirect light (but avoid intense light) ⛅️ 𝟔. Make sure to change the water every few days and maintain the water level. 💧 𝟕. Plant your cuttings in soil when the roots are a few inches long. Don’t wait too long, bc it might be harder for the plant to adapt to the soil. Hanging plants are my jam. I have quite a few scattered about the house but these are definitely my favorites! ⠀ L2R *Lipstick *Arrowhead Plant *Hoya publicalyx *Neon Pothos *Pothos Njoy (?) *Cebu Blue ⠀ Journal : hanging plants dry out more quickly than other plants so I have to keep a close eye on these guys. Watering : The lipstick is a grocery market rescue. The poor thing was sopping wet when I brought it home about a month ago. I still have not watered it. 😳 I have another lipstick, I’ve had it for about a year and I finally feel confident with it. They’ll go drier than I thought they would. I water it every 10-14 days. The Syngonium is so happy hanging. It almost never loses leaves and always tells me when it’s thirsty. I’d say that’s every 7days. The hoya will not bloom! 😡 I’ve had it 3 years. I water it- rarely, probably not enough, every 3 weeks. The neon is the one I really have to be careful with. One day it’s happy and the next it’s dramatically droopy and begging for water. 💁‍♀️ diva! Watering every 7-10 days. The unknown little leaf variegated Pothos goes so so dry! And it thrives. So many people have problems with them and I honestly think it’s over-watering. I don’t know which one it is and after 4.5 years I don’t care 🤷‍♀️. Watering every ~14 days. Last, big ole Cebu Blue. Damn! This is one of my favorite plants in my collection. On the same schedule as the Neon. All of these plants are in original soil, except the Njoy/P&J. It’s been potted from a 4 to 6” into Fox Farms Happy Frog. l i g h t • __ I have felt the pressure this week and struggled to keep positive- I think like many of us. After I spoke to my friend I really liked her advise about trying to concentrate on things I CAN do, rather all those I can’t right now. I took it to heart and it has been helpful. Then I read the @kerriawosile.business post asking about 3 things we like at the moment and though it was so lovely. So I said :) __ I love my autumnal scented candle, can’t get enough and look forward to lighting it every evening. Brings grounding to my life that the seasons are still changing and always. ___ I love wearing jumpers again and the fact we can go for walks with Ziggy and that the groomers are open again! She needs another trim and luckily for her, I don’t need to do it. ___ Even though I am missing my family so bad - I can talk to them via FT and see them and we can message every day.
