I feel like I’m truly living a life worth living . Everyday counts and I make sure I make my day worthy of God’s investment in me . I’ve never been one to use self tanner, mainly because I’m from San Diego and had a lot of beach tan time. Now that I’m in NYC, I don’t get that as much. I’m also a little nervous about self tanners because I’ve seen so many friends with blotchy tanners that don’t spread well or turn you orange. I tried this @golden_star_beauty tanning oil and it’s SOOO surprisingly easy to use. It’s all natural, so there’s no funky smells. Feels great on the skin and is such a natural buildable tan. This week I released the final episode of BRB Dating Myself, a self-dating podcast experience that has quite unintentionally (yet wholesomely) encapsulated the last 6 months of our little pocket of history. 🎧⠀ ⠀ When @manalidatar__ (co-host extraordinaire) and I set out to record a 12-part crash course on what it means exactly to love and date yourself, we had no idea what our vulnerability and reflection would mean to us in half a years time. We had no idea what the pandemic meant for our community and how our mental health would be affected.⠀ ⠀ So... for the final show, we each prepared 5 soundbites extrapolated from previous episodes and reflected on how things have progressed, regressed, and simply just changed. ⠀ ⠀ The themes that emerged were compassion and community - (funny that) - meaning what Id love to recommend to you this week, is to make an effort to show yourself more compassion and make an effort to seek out community. Let’s get REAL❣️ A classic case of insta vs reality here ! I mean both are me and real and I love to put makeup on and present myself all glam HOWEVER 90% of the time I’m the girl in the the other 3 pics 🤣👏🏼 . Nothing to be ashamed of when it comes to either scenarios but I do want to point out that whilst I get daily messages saying how I make pregnancy look easy and how am I so glam still ect please remember my blobby body on that sofa eating an ice lolly powering through exhaustion 🤣 I get so tired, hungry, agitated, angry and emotional several times a day for no reason. I feel drained by 6pm most days and whilst I DO have to admit I think I’ve had an easier time than others when it comes to health, energy and sickness - carrying a little human takes it toll! . Pregnancy has been a real journey for me (if you’ve followed our series on YouTube you will know all about the ups and downs) I do want to say I have honestly enjoyed it so much though. I like pumping. I know you rarely, if ever hear that, but I do. Maybe I haven’t been doing it long enough to hate it yet, but right now I enjoy it. I always wanted to nurse Harlee. I wanted that special bond. I wanted that badge of honor. But when she didn’t latch, I had severe anxiety. I would cry. I would worry. She would cry. She wouldn’t eat. I was hurting her because I was being selfish wanting to nurse. I didn’t know how much she was eating, she was sleeping all the time and I worried I was starving her. I hated that I couldn’t control the amount she was eating from me and I knew it was never enough. I decided to exclusively pump and allow Harlee to go to the breast if and when she wanted to. She usually comfort nurses to fall asleep and I cherish those moments. But feeding directly from my breast just isn’t working for us. Pumping is perfect for my crazy, neurotic, type A, control freak personality. I know exactly how much milk my body produces, I am on my own pumping schedule, I know how much Harlee is eating, and I can have help from Ryan to feed her. The sole responsibility of feeding Harlee and nourishing her is no longer a weight on my shoulders. I also love tracking the amount I pump and plugging it into an app and seeing the total increase throughout the day. Now that I wear as a badge of honor because I can physically see my progress, my success pumping and I’m giving my child the nourishment she needs and wants. I also love giving myself 15-30 minutes of alone time. Parenthood is hard. It’s never ending. It’s nonstop. But when I’m pumping, the world is my own. I am in my own space, relaxing, being productive, and taking care of myself while also taking care of my baby. I am less stressed and worried, I feel more like myself and able to care for Harlee. Is it me, or does anyone else switch up their routine with the seasons? With fall quickly approaching, now could not have been a better time to start!
