Traumatic things happen in life that can stay with us for years afterwards, they can affect the way we see the world and the way we connect with other people, our trust in things and the choices we make, perhaps to avoid going through that trauma again. It is an unrealistic thing to say get over it It takes time and it takes new experiences. I took too long to learn this was the best thing for me to do, to get out there and create new memories by getting a job, leaving people and pain from my past behind and start to move on and realise the past hurt but it doesnt have to define or ruin my future. During my grand vacation 2018-2019 , I (rather we) used to really look forward to Friday Evenings. At around 4 or 5 p.m ish R used to do a happy dance and we used to catch the 320 & headed to the city (#nyc). The R&D part of work, to find a place was on me. I wasnt working and had all the time on earth to do it. We tried Brazilian, Cuban, Ethiopian , Aussie steak house , etc ... Anyways , coming to the present. Today I attended a session on being mindful and came across a word. #selfcompassion . As part of the session we were to be in a comfortable position (I closed my eyes) and we were to imagine ourselves as our best friend and hence treat accordingly. In the evening I planned for this impromptu dinner for myself in a non discreet place #chungwahexpress but absolutely loved my experience. I least expected to find a pot of tea in their menu and savoured every sip. I sipped tea throughout my meal and actually hung around a little longer because of the same. Mr. Sujit Joshi who was overseeing everything and I had a little chat and he insisted on trying a custard bun (on the house) & I was overwhelmed. It was so soft and mild sweet , just the perfect dessert. I was tempted to order for another but resisted my temptation for the next visit. 🌼 I had : mushroom seafood soup, Chung wah special chowmein and Hunan pork.
