Как вы поняли из сториз, я пошла поработать волонтером в организацию, которая занимается исследованием и сохранением популяции двух исчезающих видов морских черепах, которые откладывают яйца на песчаных пляжах у нас на Кипре 🐢♥️ ⠀ Надо сказать, на первых порах у меня был шок, когда я сначала прочитала в мануале про условия существования волонтеров, а потом когда увидела своими глазами 😅 Подробности ещё можете захватить в сториз ⠀ Но потом я погрузилась в работу и в общение с командой, и оба эти пункта дорогого стоят 🤍 Мы спасаем черепашат, которые не вылупились одновременно с большей частью кладки, а ещё пытаются пробраться через 60-90 см слой песка. Это одна из многих обязанностей, но на мой взгляд самая важная. ⠀ Отдельно хочу сказать про ребят, в основном это молодые ребята 19-24 лет, даже от 15-ти, но какие они взрослые и ответственные! Вечерами мы делимся историями, в мультинациональной команде из киприотов, турков, палестинцев и других национальностей очень интересно, есть даже парень из Танзании и русская Я 😅 Обычно сюда прилетают работать британцы, причём всех возрастов, но в этом году они конечно же не смогли прилететь. ⠀ Я рада этому опыту! Here is our perspective: Yes. Because of the lifestyle we have chosen for our family, our daughters will miss out on things that our culture holds as special or important. But the sacrifice of a few of those things for the experiences that they have had over the last 3 years far surpasses the value of those “teenage social events”. _________________________________________________ And who says they have to miss them completely? 😁The photos above are of HOMECOMING 2020, Montana style! The girls and their friend Brecken from @grantinggrace decided they could throw themselves their own homecoming dance! They made a beautiful sign, custom playlist, decorated, Leila baked a cake and appetizers, they awarded homecoming court, and they even invited Brecken’s 11 year old brother to join in. 😊 They dressed up, danced all night, and made an incredible memory they will never forget. I would even say it was on par with those cultural teenage events!😉 _________________________________________________ And one more thing. Excess heat carried within us can be transformed as we transition into fall. The ling time of year when we are prompted to transform our grief. The color of fall is white. This full moon I walked barefoot into the night as the moon rose over the dunes made of Shi Gao- Gypsum at White Sands National Park, NM. Shi Gao is the coldest herb in the Chinese materia medica. Allowing the Yin moonlight to wash over and the excess heat to drain from my mind into the dunes was the perfect transition into the fall season. For as long as I can remember I’ve always dreamed about hunting pronghorn. Today the good lord blessed me with a great shot on my first day hunting them! Will definitely be riding cloud 9 for a while! This was also my first day hunting with my Martin ADX 7, it definitely did it’s job! Makes it even better that I was able to come on this trip with my dad and grandpa (I’ll be making a separate post later about the whole trip)! To top it off, we were all able to tag out today! Two years ago we began working on one of the most ambitious projects we have ever been involved in. “Pioneers,” written by @biancarusu @lady.dianalynne was simply a story that we could not turn down. A survival tale of two pioneer women and the evolution of their relationship under extreme conditions spoke to timeless themes all women can relate to. The production challenges were significant; desert location, extreme heat, live animals, guns, special effects makeup, stunts, and period costume pieces. I mentioned in a post a few days ago, the importance of community, and over the last ten years (since Jude’s diagnosis) we’ve truly been blessed by some of the people who have come into our lives. Other parents of autistic children, or whose children have additional needs, that have become really close friends. Friends who just get the ups and the downs of the rollercoaster that our lives can be. Who are a shoulder to lean on, or who have great advice and ideas. Autistic adults who share some of their own thoughts and experiences, who help me better understand Jude and Tommy. Professionals who are passionate about their jobs, who really want to help make our lives better. And carers, who have treated Tommy and Jude like they’re part of their own family. For the last year we’ve had two carers who do exactly that with Tommy. Their children have become his best friends, and each week it enables him to develop his social skills, access activities, and have experiences that I’m simply unable to give him. Whenever I tell him he’s seeing them his face lights up, and he always has an amazing day. Knowing that he’s able to have that time with them, that he’s having fun and being well looked after, is something I’m so grateful for. So thank you. Thank you to the carers, the professionals, the autistic adults, and the other parents and families that have become part of our lives over the last ten years. Another deer and elk capture season has come and gone so I cant help but reflect on the stories and memories generated these last couple months. The folks that make up our capture crew are some of the best people and I am grateful to be a part of the family. I highly recommend that you find a couple fams to vacay with annually. Obviously not just any friends but YOUR PEOPLE. Ones that you vibe with and LOVE being around. . This is our 2nd annual trip and we plan to do this until we cant anymore. We imagine going camping when the boys are 18 yrs old and have partners that they want to bring along. IF they want to join us. 😝 . My parents used to take us camping every year and it was such a good memory. I want the boys to have this special trip to look forward to every year and I want to continue to make memories with my people. . I have spent a good chunk of my life feeling like I never really fit in. Its a great feeling being surrounded by people that I can be completely myself around. Its a blessing to that all 14 of us can spend several days every year planning, cooking, sight seeing, playing and laughing our asses off together. All 8 kids get along so well and all our husbands enjoy each others company too! For the first time in 2020, Ive been able to be fully present.
