De vuelta al rodaje , parece mentira.... pero No!!!! Es real!!! El pasado lunes retomamos el rodaje de una nueva serie para RTVE: . Las medidas de seguridad son escrupulosas, tal como se exige en esta nueva etapa de nuestras vidas, pero la ilusión y las ganas siguen intactas . Un equipo fantástico...una familia en construcción ... Por supuesto las mascarillas cobran una importancia en el entorno ... y hoy me encontré con esta grata sorpresa , una mascarilla diseñada por Angie ( de vestuario ) , que no sólo es bonita ( las dos ); es superefectiva( con filtros que no dejan pasar ni salir nada de nada ). Nunca imaginé que iba a ir al baño a mirarme en el espejo para ver cómo me quedaba una mascarilla y que eso me haría feliz . Angie lo ha hecho posible . Gracias!!! Where did the time go? Somehow, 28 years passed between these pictures! True to birthday form, I woke up yesterday morning feeling a little bit old and a little curmudgeonly. Aktuell bin ich teilweise gedanklich nicht richtig im Urlaub. Meine Gedanken kreisen um die Zahl auf der Waage die mich am Wochenende erwartet. -30.7 KG seit Januar bis Ende August habe ich geschafft. 3 Tage vor meinem Urlaub habe ich die 30kg Marke geknackt und war mega happy. Jetzt essen wir hier bei Familie, in Restaurants und snacken Abends beim Chillen noch Süssigkeiten. Sollte ich es mir verbieten? Sollte ich aufpassen nicht in alte Muster zu verfallen? Oder werde ich ohne Probleme gut zurück in mein Programm finden? 🤷🏽‍♀️ Ich bin eigentlich sehr zuversichtlich die Kilos wieder los zu werden, doch was wenn mein Kopf dicht macht? Body recomposition is rare but happens if things are done the right way This is 12-week transformation of my mentee Ekta. She was already pretty lean,counting her calories and doing some weight training when she joined me. She wanted to lose stubborn belly fat and get lean. She also wanted to help me with a diet close to our Indian lifestyle as she lives in the U.S and was looking for a sustainable diet plan. Her weight increased initially when we started with weight training with more volume and small calorie deficit focusing more on her protein and carbs intake. We could see visual changes andbI was convinced that we are going to achieve a lot more if stay consistent. End result: She lost around 3-4 pounds weight, gained almost 2 inches in arms and 3 inches in legs. This was a really good starting to her long journey. She has understood the process well and how she needs to continue staying consistent with her diet and weight training to achieve a little more fat loss and then focusing completely on muscle gain. I’ve been going back and forth all day if I should share or not. With each passing year maintaining this lifestyle seems to not be as hard as it once was. That is until this past year... 2019-2020 has honestly thrown me( like many others) for a wild ride. I certainly didn’t expect to quit my job last year to start a new venture, open my shop, less than 2 weeks later become a single mom, flash forward 5 months later to the Covid Pandemic, unable to work , and subsequently come super close to losing my business among many other changes. This was the closest I have been to drinking again, I basically battled myself every day and I was terrified. It felt like the beginning all over again and some days I truly didn’t even see the point of staying sober. Yet here we are, another September 1st. I didn’t think I’d make it here, let alone being able to say I’m 9 YEARS sober. Thank you to everyone who reached out, thank you to those who I reached out to in the Sober and clean community who truly helped me stay focused and on track. My gym community y’all have been amazing and most of you don’t even know our simple conversations during workouts is one of the things I look forward to the most! Not sure how to begin writing this but I guess I’ll just go with it. ⠀ My fiancé, Adam, has a severe nut allergy - it’s the first thing we mention when we’re in any restaurant. ⠀ On my birthday 2 years ago, he (very generously!) treated me to a fine dining restaurant in the heart of London. I was blown away by the views from the top. We sat down by the window & opted for the wine pairing menu (because, why not?!) and we enjoyed our starter & main dishes. We were then handed our dessert plates. I noticed Adam’s dessert was a different colour but didn’t really think anything of it, especially as his allergy is always the first thing we mention, so we thought it contained a nut alternative. ⠀ It was all fine, until Adam said to me: ‘Mel, my lips feel so tingly’. At that moment I stopped eating and rushed the waiter over to confirm whether his food contained nuts. The waiter didn’t know, (you can imagine my reaction) and had to check inside with the chef - which took a good few minutes. After which he came out and confirmed the dreaded: ⠀ ‘We are so sorry, we mixed up your plates. His dessert contained peanuts.’ ⠀ I had only been qualified as a pharmacist for two months at this point, but first aid is something that we take seriously - I was confident on what to do, but no amount of training can really prepare you for real life - even more so when it affects your loved one. ⠀ I administered one adrenaline pen whilst trying to call 999 - the signal was rubbish with us being high up. I finally got through to the 999 call handler, provided the information, and the next words spoken still haunt me: ⠀ ‘He’s not breathing, you’ll need to administer a second pen while you wait for the ambulance.’ ⠀ One pen wasn’t enough. His lips and tongue were swollen. All I could hear was his wheeze. I remember thinking, I only have one pen left, he’s not breathing - I get one shot at this and I need to do it right. I grabbed the opposite leg and administered the second pen firmly, and wished for the best. He started to shake uncontrollably from the adrenaline, but thankfully, his breathing improved and the emergency services arrived. ⠀ He survived.x ⠀ 📸👉Us enjoying dinner out since! - @melsmedicines on Instagram

Bottled at a mighty 57% abv it packs a #whiskypunch! ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ The sound of the Whisky got my taste buds excited but alas the balance, well: just doesn’t balance. The warm smokiness I love from the Caol Ila is hindered by the Red Wine finish, yet the finish doesn’t deliver a rich, chewy sweetness I was longing for. The flavour feels a little lost; like a disharmonised relationship which has either gone sour or needs longer to over come difficulties. ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ Would I buy a €99 from The Islay Cask Company? Yes, but purely because of my relationship & love for the Rhinegau. 1940s... in quarantine lockdown I’ve been a little obsessed with watching a lot of movies and shows taking place during the WW2 era. I love the simple Hollywood glam of that time period. Because of the war, there wasn’t access to much in the way of cosmetics but it’s amazing how just popping on a red lip gives instant sophistication! It’s not something I wear often but I do love it! Here are my grandmas wedding photos. I think my grandma Trudy was only about 18/19 & my grandma Sybil was like 25/26 in these photos? Jess’ log. Stardate 8.12.2020. Lol I wrote some thoughts today. These are some of them. I’m sitting alone at Monello right now and loving every second of self dating. Even if we are in the street. The music is loud enough to drown out other’s conversations but not too loud to flood my thoughts. It’s tranquil. It feels like it’s been forever since I’ve done this and I’m remembering why I do...It’s therapeutic. Grounding. Drops me into my heart. Downshifting into femininity. Even in this crazy unpredictable world the wind will bring me to my knees...I can close my eyes and just be. Breathe it all in. Today. Feels. Good. Solace. Close enough to the embarcadero to hear the seagulls fly over head. Families conversing. People walking dogs that look like them. Babies smiling at me. Life...is remarkable. This moment of stillness and refuge from the chaos of the current state of affairs is overwhelming. When was the last time I paused and took it all in?? Connection. Deep, deep connection. To it all. As much as I love this hotel’s bathroom, you gotta love a good natural light for makeup application👌☀️ and this poolside view is everything 🙌 Here it was a little after 7 AM. I like to wake up extra early to get a good jump start to our day of content creating and exploring. ☕️ @indigoeastend made sure our day began at ease with some wonderful room service and fantastic breakfast! I got the boost that I needed for the fun adventure that comes our way next❤️ . . TIPS- ( This photo took about 30min-1hour to edit, I like to paint the image in Photoshop. There’s a lot I did in this photo but my main focus was to de-highlight and de-haze the hell out of outside. December 2012 was the last time I dyed my hair and immediately regretted it BUT it was feeling all that regret that enabled me to stand firm in my decision to never dye it again. I felt so unique in my May 2012 photo and the dye took that away. Even though one could argue I looked younger or better (I would disagree) I was no longer the unicorn 🦄 I had been used. Being Latina in Higher Education, Part 1 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ For Hispanic + Latin Heritage Month (& in honor of the @wearewomenowned Latina-owned virtual pop-up going on NOW), Im sharing some of my experiences. Today its all about being Latina at Virginia Tech. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Going from the DC area to Blacksburg was a big shift. The diversity I was used to back home was not a thing at VT; BIPOC students made up a much lower % of the population. That really showed in the behavior of some white students. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ When I first went to VT, I started off in Architecture School. At the time it was the #1 undergraduate architecture program in the country. I had multiple white boys say, you only got in because you checked a box, you were an affirmative action admission, and really youre not VERY Latina so you actually took an affirmative action slot from a real minority. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Being me, I did my best to put these MFers in their place with snarky comments like, Oh, so you work in admissions? Good to know. or But YOU got in cuz daddy went here, right? 😂 Lets say I was grateful to have a few Latina friends who were kind and welcoming, despite my misfit status as a Spanish-speaking Brazilian. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Also at VT... ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🤢 I heard white people assume every Black student was an athlete 🤢 Before we knew the details surrounding a murder on campus (not 4/16), many students started a rumor that it must be an Asian guy because thats what the shooter was 🤢 I met SO MANY white people who had never met a BIPOC before and treated us like objects to be studied 🤢 I was often fetishized by thirsty white boys when they found out Im Latina ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ & more ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I love Virginia Tech. But it was/is not without its flaws. This May, they proudly reported a record high of 8% Black students and 10% Latin students in the class of 2024 😬 Ooph. - @mybrightbody on Instagram

What a journey it’s been between these two images. We have no idea how unconscious we are until faced with a crisis, health or life challenges. 🦋 What do you see when you look in the mirror? What Helped Me The Most In This Journey⤵️⁣ ⁣ ⁣ 1️⃣Knowing the three important factors to choose the right products for your hair. Find out your texture, density and hair porosity. I have a post about how you can determine these 3 factors in my highlights “how to choose products”. Go check it out. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 2️⃣Paying attention to ingredients. Understanding how to read ingredient lists has transformed my curly hair journey. ⁣⁣ Knowing your hair is part of reading labels. This will save you so many trial and error fails because you can understand what you’re putting in your hair and how your hair responds to it. In my highlights by “ingredientlist” you see what to look for or to avoid. Check it out. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 3️⃣Experimenting a lot. I follow the rule what will work for my hair doesn’t mean it will work for your hair. For example I have high porosity, medium density and fine hair. My hair likes coconut oil as a ingredient. It also occurs that another curly has the exact same properties of the hair but the hair doesn’t like not against coconot oil as an ingredient at all. ⁣So all I can say is pay attention to how your hair reacts with certain ingredients.
