Sophs book hit the stores today!!! She has taken our whole family on such a rollercoaster ride full of ups and downs over the last 6 years. We have witnessed firsthand her pure, unwavering commitment to healing herself naturally and most importantly remaining healthy. She is 100 percent a walking example of how if you put your mind to something and go all in, no matter what it takes, you can do it. In no way has it been easy but the results have been incredible. I encourage you to read her story which she shares in the book. It is nothing short of inspiring and it will likely change the way you view certain things a little or maybe a lot. *really long post, but worth the read* if I have learned one thing in my last 17 years, it is how to be grateful for the little things in life. it is so easy to wake up everyday and not think twice about how lucky we are (no matter what the circumstances). however, for some people it’s not that easy. for 13 years that has been the reality for Jenna. Today, our family had to take a huge step for Jenna’s health by placing a feeding tube. a battle we have had to face her whole life. To not be able to eat on your own is so unfair and something we had to accept. even not be able to say that “I love you” or even scream my name when she’s mad at me. ( bc I definitely can get her nerves) is something I’ve missed being a big sister. good thing actions speak much much louder than words. the bond we have for one another is something that I could have never dreamed of when I heard my sister will have struggles that typical people don’t face on a daily basis. moral of the story is don’t ever take anything for granted bc some people would die to have the little things. this girl holds my heart forever and to say that we are blessed is an understatement. i love you SO much Jenna McKinley and I’m even more proud to call you my sister. - @jordyncox_ on Instagram

I lost my brother yesterday. Clark was a model human being, my guiding force. He took care of me when we were kids. During our early Toronto years, all we had was each other. The first time I watched 誰も知らない, Onward, and Grave of Fireflies - I felt those films summed up my relationship with him. Clark bravely battled his illness for two years, with my parents on his side. In life, he taught me how to appreciate manga, Star Trek, Batman, Tom Cruise, Joshua Tree, and many many more pop culture references. We talked about movies all the time. He also taught me to be generous, patient, and self-critical. So many of the traits I am today is because of him. I had a chance to chat with him for the last time last week for about thirty minutes, during which we made plans to go to Joshua Tree together. I also had a chance to thank him, and to let him know how lucky I feel that I got to have him as my brother, just in case I won’t have another chance. Now I will never have another chance to call him or spend time with him. He will always be on my mind every day for as long as I’ll live. Farewell, brother. Thank you for helping me find my way. So many emotions this morning...going to try to hold it together 🥴! Meet Katalina (8th grader) and Seve (6th grader)...how is it possible I have two middle schoolers??? I want to start by saying this...Covid is very real, devastating real, but so is our God and we believe that the right choice for our family is to send our sweet babies to in person school and just pray over them and bath them in prayer! Sending them means not being able to bring my sweet momma home from Guam, sending them means trusting they be super responsible, but sending them also meant mentally healthy kids and giving Chris and I routine again. With all that emotion I still sit here and again say...how do we have 2 middle schoolers? Katalina has morphed into this beautiful, responsible and crazy sassy teenager and now we have Seve...a preteen that was genuinely nervous but also slightly excited...and a momma who can’t deal! I wish more than anything I could have my own Dad here to see it all and hug me when I got home from dropping them off and remind me how quickly it all goes. Wish momma Daisy was here to drive us all nuts and worry for all of us!!! Just too many emotions but I know today is just one day in this big thing called Life and it too will pass and we will have tomorrow. Praying for alllllll parents today and are entire school staff! This is thirty-one 👵. Unwashed hair, no makeup, and a baby in tow. You could say this is the most bittersweet birthday Ive ever experienced. “I hate my life”. Tears streamed down my face as the words escaped my lips faster than I could shut them. Immediately, the guilt came rushing in. How could I hate my life? A life filled with two beautiful boys?! A life with a loving husband and supportive family + friends. food, shelter, stability and health. A life that, theoretically, I’ve always “dreamed” about living and yet, there I was, crying to myself in the shower and feeling absolutely broken inside. The truth of the matter is that I didn’t hate my life. I never did. I just hated the way that I FELT and so, I’ve spent these last few months hiding away (literally) and changing just that. Friends — please take care of yourself, and by take care of yourself, I mean really, take care of yourself. I am really intrigued by the daily rituals in our lives, how they ground us and how they are maybe symbolic and grounding even if we don’t recognise then as so. Also the more formal ones that stem from religion and ancient traditions, I may have not been so connected too. In my latest podcast episode I decided to investigate some more traditional ones. I meet with a small group of my friends (before the new restrictions) who didn’t mind being the guinea pigs! We explored and performed the scared Cacao ceremony and a Fire ceremony and some tarot reading. Aww and a little bit of fancy dress never goes a miss! getting in touch with our witchy side was not a challenge..It was a wonderful experience, thanks to my amazing friends for sharing this with me and being so open to the experience.
