The last KauaiOo mating call will echo into @migrosmuseum tonight, for the opening of „Potential Worlds 1: Planetary Memories“ (07.03.–31.05.2020). I am excited to share the museum has collected an edition of RE-ANIMATED, helping not only to preserve the artwork for the future, but digital recordings of the bird call itself, alongside ornithologist Douglad H. Pratt emotional recollection of when he last saw the bird, when it was alive. I interviewed Douglas two years ago, and it moved me. He said Painting a picture of an extinct bird, putting it in to its proper habitat, is my way of bringing it back to life. How will lost species and oral stories of them be remembered in the future? “Potential Worlds 1“ will include works by Monira Al Qadiri, Maria Thereza Alves, Alberto Baraya, Ursula Biemann, Carolina Caycedo, Cooking Sections, Mark Dion, Mishka Henner, Reena Saini Kallat, Kiluanji Kia Henda, Jakob Kudsk Steensen, Almagul Menlibayeva, Katja Novitskova, Tabita Rezaire, Zina Saro-Wiwa, and Himali Singh Soin. Son unos tiempos difíciles. Tiempos de oscuridad, de mucha incertidumbre y sin poder saber a concretamente la respuesta “y ahora que?”. En Puerto Rico he visto cientos de familias heridas que perdieron todo, niños que no tienen donde dormir y que nos dicen “tu tienes casa? Porque yo perdí la mía”. Hemos tenido ancianos acercarnos a agradecernos y llorar en nuestros abrazos ya que perdierón todo y nos compartén “después de 32 años trabajando para tener esa casa. Ahora se me fue! Uy esa casa se la quería dejar a mi nieto!” Son estas historias las que nos llevamos en el corazón. Pero tambien hay miles de boricuas, civiles y por su cuenta que se han dado cita a llevar suministros. Carreteras abarrotadas de carros lentos por el peso de las aguas que cargan desde su esquina de la isla para hacerlas llegar a esos pueblos afectados del sur. Miles de ciudadanos que, dijeron NO al gobierno y politicos y SI a ayudar al país! Se me infla el pecho de la patria que existe en este país. En los ultimos 3 años Puerto Rico me ha enseñado sin fallar que su corazón esta hecho de amor y personas que verdaderamente les importa este país! There are hundreds of kilometres of caves in Yucatan. In the caves you can find a really amazing world: beautiful decorations, stalagmites and other shapes. A Waiting Water Ritual for Willy @wllysmrt :: Weeks ago I waited in line at the DMV. The line wrapped around each corner of a square. I waited for four, 4, hours in the sun, glazed by hues of sunburn from head to heart, armpit to finger tip. There was anticipation by most as the line inched forward, sighs, nervous taps, news alerts and rubs. At the end of the waiting, an explosion not as water fell but as bureaucratic marking, a license in a new state, a new place to dip the word of home into my vocabulary. At hour three a shirtless person passed out water bottles to the line, gratitudes of the waiting echoed down the snake. The cooling savior promptly ushered off the property by a man bound up by the rules of someone else. I’ve always been the type to confirm where the line is leading, I lack a blind faith in systems. I told several that week how I never thought I’d have a calming spiritual experience at the DMV, yet it was sincere and profound - a stillness I didn’t think I could muster. A fourth side of my patience, a ritual bound with fear and boredom where I was able to crab walk in peace. - @basilbrisket on Instagram

To create the image used for the cover of Death is a Warm Blanket, we drilled a 3 inch hole in the side of an 80 pound microwave, filled it with tannerite and @hothouserevival shot through the hole with his hunting rifle while @justindombrowski and @wilhughes caught super slow-mo footage with a crazy Myth Busters camera.
