Wtedy naprawdę można uwierzy, że jest się niezniszczalnym. ❣ Najgłośniej krzyczy serce to niełatwa, ale ważna i potrzebna powieść. 🆁🅴🅲🅴🅽🆉🅹🅰 Upalne lato to dla mnie ten idealny czas na czytanie kryminałów. Zauważyłam, że ludzie jako lektury letnie wskazują raczej lekkie romanse albo przygodówki. Ja uwielbiam latem krew i tajemnice, w pełnym słońcu wchodzą mi najlepiej, wydają się o wiele bardziej emocjonujące. Jakby gorąca powolność i senność sprawiały, że zbrodnie są bardziej autentyczne i przejmujące. Sięgnęłam po Czwartą małpę i jej kontynuację - Piątą ofiarę - Barkera i zakochałam się tak bardzo, że kolejne książki tego autora kupuję w ciemno. Nie jest to literatura ambitna, skłaniająca do refleksji czy zmieniająca życie. Jest to natomiast szalenie wciągający kryminał, o intrydze tak zagmatwanej, wielowarstwowej i nieschematycznej, że praktycznie nie da się domyślić zakończenia. Czyta się z wypiekami na policzkach, szaleńczo dążąc do końca, bo tak bardzo chce się poznać rozwiązanie zagadki. Barker jest niewątpliwie mistrzem manipulacji, zakończenie wgniata w fotel, pozostawia w głowie jedno wielkie WOW i niedosyt, bo przed nami jeszcze jedna część, dotychczas niewydana w Polsce. Pamiętnik jest niewątpliwie najlepszą częścią książki, genialnym portretem narodzin mordercy. Czytając, byłam naładowana takimi emocjami, jakich dawno nie przeżywałam w książce, waliło mi serce, chciałam krzyczeć do bohaterów głupoty w stylu Nie idź tam, nie ufaj jej. Ja rzadko daję się tak ponieść książkom. Dlatego jestem zachwycona tym bardziej. 🗑️ A ZERO WASTE LIFE IN 30 DAYS - Interested in a zero waste lifestyle? 🗑️ This is a great book to anyone who’s interested in zero waste but don’t know where to get started. I found this book very straight forward, inspiring and easy to read. I loved that she included minimalism as a topic (decluttering and self growth etc). Every chapter is easy to read and each day is a new step towards a zero waste life. The only minus in my opinion is that the steps were placed in an odd order. I would switch it up a bit. Her chapter about “maintaining minimalism” was a nice reminder to keep on decluttering and got me motivated to keep on dealing with our storage. 🍪 For Womens History Month, were proud to celebrate the women in Weeblys community of makers. NaKelle Denton and her husband Jeff founded @thelionschoice in pursuit of a sweet treat that even the most active gym-goers can indulge in. Saying that the last 6 months have been a roller coaster of emotions would be an understatement. My life looks very different to what it was at the start of the year (self-isolation, permanently WFH, resignation…) but I couldn’t be happier. At first, when I was told to self-isolate, not being able to go out for 2 FULL weeks seemed insane. But also necessary as cases were rising and I had to do my part. All of a sudden, my home became my office, my gym, my meditation area, my everything literally. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I quickly realised how lucky I was to have this opportunity to finally bring Women MAKE Stories to life. No more ‘the next train will arrive in 2 minutes’ when you’re already late, no more waking up at the crack of dawn to go to the gym to fit it all in with my schedule. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This was my time to slow down, reflect, check in with my body and mind. To ask myself honestly and with no judgement: what’s stopping me to take WMS to the next level? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I had already been working on my business for some months before the pandemic hit but for some reasons, I couldn’t connect all the dots. Being a creative, I knew I needed a business coach, someone who could keep me accountable and guide me into this new adventure. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ WMS is also about collaboration and for me it was important to work with women whose values aligned with mine. Looking for the right coach wasn’t as easy as I thought because there are so many incredible women out there (I will tell you more about these women soon) but ultimately I knew that @lauren.osullivan_ was the right choice for me. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The way she believed in me and WMS from the very beginning gave me the confidence to stop being afraid of putting myself and the business out there. Comprei os livros da Amanda Lovelace sem nem saber do que se tratavam e, para minha surpresa, eu enxerguei a poesia de uma maneira diferente. A bruxa não vai para a fogueira nesse livro conta a história da luta de mulheres durante os anos, através de poemas e metáforas que retratam as fogueiras ainda acesas no século XXI: os abusos, o machismo e os problemas psicológicos silenciados. Eu acho a escrita da autora muito inteligente: a estética dos poemas, além de deixa-los mais didáticos, também aumenta a intensidade com que eles nos atingem. Quem me acompanha aqui sabe o quanto eu sou fã de The Handmaids Tale, né? Um dos poemas do livro é uma homenagem para a June e uma crítica aos nossos direitos, tomados cada vez mais, tanto na ficção como na vida real. Ela possui o próprio nome e a frase “seja corajosa” escrito em suas mãos, para que sempre se lembre do que ela precisa ser. ⠀ ⠀ ✍A escrita é bem fluída, apesar de alguns momentos ser levemente repetitiva, porém com uma explicação mais que clara. He is so biodynamic that a visit to his place starts in the woods meeting his deers, continue to his prosperous vegetable garden (from where I can see an @amber_revolution shirt hanging under the sun), walking over his buried amphorae, through his Stainerian magic box in order to arrive almost one hour later in his trapped-in-time tasting/conference rooms where his wines finally speaks of purity, elegance, energy, nature. It starts with the main character, Iris, telling us of the day when her sister Laura drove off a bridge, then shifts to Lauras posthumously published novel The Blind Assassin about two unnamed lovers who meet clandestinely and in which the man entertains his lover with pulpy science fiction stories, mostly about a blind assassin and a sacrificial virgin who fall in love against all odds. Then the story shifts again to Iris who, now an old woman, recalls her early years and the events leading to Lauras death. What is it all about I wondered? Why did Laura die? Why novel within a novel? Who are these secret nameless lovers? This novel-within-a-novel picks up on the interplay between optimism and despair being dramatized politically on the streets of Canada during the Depression. queria trazer pra vocês uma indicação bem pessoal. letters to a young poet (ou cartas a um jovem poeta), do rainer maria rilke, foi um dos últimos livros que eu li. ele é muito curtinho, a minha edição, por exemplo, tem só trinta páginas. mas essa coleção de cartas falou comigo de uma forma muito especial. nas cartas que rilke manda ao jovem poeta, ele faz considerações sobre o que é o fazer poético, o que é ser um poeta. daí, o título. acredito que quem escreve poemas acharia que rilke deu sim bons conselhos. mas o que eu gostei desse livro não foi bem a discussão sobre arte, mas sim as reflexões que rilke faz sobre amor, paciência, solidão e desenvolvimento pessoal. o que eu senti ao ler esse livro foi como se uma pessoa mais velha e experiente estivesse tomando um café comigo e me dando conselhos sobre coisas que eu ainda não vivi, ou que eu ainda não entendo. as palavras de rilke foram um conforto enorme pra mim. como ele mesmo disse as bees collect honey, so we take what is sweetest out of everything. eu definitivamente só tirei coisas boas das palavras dele, da visão tão calma que ele parece ter do mundo. claro que teve uma coisa ou outra com a qual eu não concordei, mas acho que eu também não preciso concordar. sinto também que eu interagi muito com esse livro. coloquei comentários, risquei, marquei. espero reler ele um dia, pra ver se as palavras dele encontrarão uma leitora e uma pessoa mais madura. nas próximas fotos, coloquei uns dos meus trechos favoritos do livro. estão em inglês porque foi nesse idioma que eu li, mas essa obra também pode ser facilmente encontrada no português. alguém conhece rilke, seja em prosa, ou em poesia? descobri que ele foi poeta também, mal posso esperar pra ler a poesia dele! - @karinalelivros on Instagram

[contém alguns spoilers] ↪️ PONTOS NEGATIVOS ▪️ É uma história pesada, não há como negar. Porém, não foi o primeiro livro que eu li sobre maternidade indesejada, psicopatia, filicídio, etc. Mas o fato é que foi uma leitura extremamente desconfortável porque o assunto não foi bem explorado e só foi jogado como que pra chocar o leitor. ▪️ A personagem principal é rasa e não dá pra sentir o mínimo de simpatia por ela. Na verdade, eu só sentia antipatia por ela, e o romance com um homem casado, que ela mal conhecia, com uma esposa debilitada e na mesma casa que os dois só me dá ânsia. ▪️ Os personagens importantes, como marido e filho, parece que só estavam lá por estar mesmo. A própria Verity não foi bem explorada e eu queria poder ter visto um pouco mais dela. ↪️ PONTOS POSITIVOS ▪️ É um enredo interessante (tirando a escolha da autora para os personagens), se fosse abordado de outra forma eu teria gostado mais. ▪️O final foi uma boa sacada, gostei daquele e se, que me deixou um tempo pensando na personagem. ______________ Enfim, espero ter conseguido explicar um pouco as minhas opiniões sobre esse livro, demorei um tempo pensando se postava porque eu não sabia como expressar as coisas que estavam passando pela minha cabeça após ler, mas eu queria saber qual a opinião de vocês em relação ao livro também. Amei conhecer a história dessa Rainha que, pra mim, não era má, era apenas uma mulher que sofreu bastante durante toda a sua vida, possuía seus traumas e inseguranças e acabou deixando que toda essa situação moldasse seu coração. Esse livro, ao meu ver, trouxe muitas questões interessantes, como, por exemplo, a beleza da mulher, que, nesta época - e muitas vezes hoje também - era a única coisa que importava. Em muitos momentos senti muita pena da Rainha e só queria abraçá-la. Não é fácil aguentar o que ela aguentou.
