EDUCATION l CRITICAL EYE CRITICAL EYE: Visual Archives for Education is an innovative pedagogical initiative that uses photography archives to encourage critical thinking in young people in the school context. The project produced by @ic_visual_lab will be initiated by THE CAGE within the context of the Bristol Photo Festival. The aim is to offer a critical approach towards images through a series of practical activities and original resources developed in collaboration with museums, educational institutions, professional photographers, artists and school teachers. Are you a secondary school teacher interested in this program? We would appreciate if you can fill out this questionnaire. https://forms.gle/uggURTZNpEpUCLpH7 More info soon. http://www.bristolphotofestival.org/education/ #bristol #photography #education #students #experience #archive - @brsphotofest on Instagram

German scientists have just finished upgrading a solar telescope called GREGOR at the Teide Observatory in the Canary Islands, and the result is a spectacular new set of images of our star. GREGOR began its observations in 2012 as Europes largest solar telescope and the upgrade project began in 2018. The upgrades included work on the telescopes optics and control systems, repainting the observatory to reflect less light and interfere less with observations, and implementing new scheduling policies to improve the scientific output of observations. . . . . . The Fukang meteorite is a meteorite that was found in the mountains near Fukang, China in 2000. It is a pallasite—a type of stony–iron meteorite with olivine crystals. It is estimated to be 4.5 billion years old. The Fukang Meteorite is thought to have been formed at the birth of the solar system approximately 4.5 billion years ago, when the olivine fragments from its mantle mixed with the molten metal from its core upon impact on earth. The Fukang pallasite contains large, gem quality olivine, or peridot, in a nickel-iron matrix. The olivines vary in shape from rounded to angular, many are fractured and they range in size from less than five millimetres to several centimetres.A section weighing 31 kilograms (68 lb; 4.9 st) of type specimen is on deposit at the University of Arizona. . . . . 👉Follow us @event_horizon09 for more space content👈 . . 👉Follow us @event_horizon09 for more space facts👈 . . 👉Follow us @event_horizon09 for more information👈 . . 👉Double-tap for more amazing content👈👆👆 . . . . #physics #physiology #physicsfun #physicist #quantum #quantumhealing #quantumcomputing #universe #space #iss #matter #antimatter #quantumgravity #quantumelectrodynamics #quantummechanics #cosmos #cosmology #astronaut #astronomy #quantumentanglement #quantumfield # #spacetime #outerspace #spacetravel #scientist #deepspace #sciencefiction - @the._cosmos on Instagram

You know it is going to be a good day when your first peek through a microscope in a long time yields such a magnificent view! This year has been one of major life changes and watershed moments for me personally and professionally. So much has been happening, I haven’t had a moment to catch my breath even! A new home, new job, moving in with my loving life partner (and best friend), newly adopted pet (one more on the way), loss of my beloved dog who was much much more than a pet to me (he was everything), a new tattoo (dedicated to my dog Coco), incredible experiences ranging from conservation field work to debuting as a speaker on stage to meeting and befriending some incredible people ! Phew. I am sure I have managed to leave some things out owing to my poor memory! But coming back to the beach sand grains in the pictures above, what a sample I happened to pick up from my last trip to Goa! Microscopic remnants of #marine animals including the single-celled #foraminifera, micro-mollusks, sponge spicules, #coral and rock fragments and what not, all that in one tiny pinch if #sand, all in a single frame! I intend to resume #microscopy with a renewed vigour, again :) It is good to be back. - @purvavariyar on Instagram
