Jim Carrey once said “I think everybody should get rich and famous and do everything they ever dreamed, so they can see that it’s not the answer” I remember when I was 20 years old and I wanted to have it ALL figured out by 30! I was constantly chasing goals, a better body, a better job, more pay and it became this never ending search I was ticking boxes hoping that at the end of the road, I would feel happy, confident and fulfilled. The problem was that every time I reached a goal... I would feel empty inside! which lead me to want more and more 2017 was my AHA year ✅I had graduated from Nutrition school ✅ Competed in a bodybuilding competition where I had to completely transform my body (I was super fit at this point!) ✅Got married ✅Moved into a beautiful condo (my old condo) But for some reason that wasnt enough! I remember standing on stage after the bodybuilding competition thinking... is this it? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ My life seemed perfect from the outside but all I wanted was to run away - true story! - F/31/5”4 [312lbs 279lbs = 32lbs] (6months) I actually lost 35lbs by March, but life stuff happened so I gained a bit. Continuing on now, goal is -70 lbs lbs by the end of the year.
This is hard to share. My #shame tapes go off with all sorts of lies, “You let yourself go,” “the surgery will be for nothing,” “you kept it off for four years and now look at you,” ...it’s very frustrating. I know it’s not true. I know I’m trying to be healthy and better understand this journey we’re all on. And in Paris, I was walking 3-5 miles a day. Of COURSE I lost weight. My steady weight for 4 years has been between 125 lbs to 130 lbs. What drives me nuts is that I KNEW most people gain about 10 lbs around year four. But somehow, deep in my brain, I thought I would skip over that. I’m trying to be kind to my body. It is doing everything I ask it to. I am trying not to eat emotionally, but this is such a hard time. Being at home constantly is hard. I’ve gone #dairyfree and am going toward vegan in order to help my #blooddisorder. It’s actually hard to find vegan snacks that aren’t #junkfood! Example: Oreos? #Vegan. Don’t think this #veganjourney is a #weightloss thing! It’s actually turning out to be harder. Anyway, I’m not looking for pity or fishing for compliments ...anyone who has struggled with an #eatingdisorder knows the compliment, “You look healthier,” sounds like “you look bigger.” 🤷🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ It’s an everyday fight, guys. I’m also not in despair or self-loathing. I would be real with you. But it IS frustrating and a total mind maze. So, amidst all the real problems in the world, here’s a small glimpse of what my brain is trapped in. I feels selfish compared to the big issues going on.
