What if I were to tell you the way that you’re marketing your business is likely all wrong? You’d probably say something along the lines of “you don’t know me…” But I need you to hear me out. This has been weighing on my heart whether to share or not, I know it’s a message that will serve you and it’s likely the single most important advice I can ever give you. Engaging in new, and often a lot, of marketing tactics - like how to increase your following on IG, working on your SEO, paying thousands of dollars to advertise with testimonial/referral sites - because they work for others, doesn’t mean that they will work for you. You see, it’s because everyone’s business is different because every single person is different. And what works for one person, doesn’t always work for the next… For instance, if your friend wears a certain outfit - the way it looks on them will likely look different on you when you try on the same exact same thing. Similar to marketing - it’s not a one-size fits all approach either… … and neither is the way that you run your business. And until you have a solid strategy in place for your business - one that connects deep down with who you are, how you work, how you think, and your beliefs - then it’s just like taking Tylenol when you have a headache to cover up a symptom, vs. understanding what the root cause is and fixing it that way. It masks the symptoms for a short while. And when you don’t connect with what your business is doing… then what you started your business to do starts to feel like a distant vision and you stop connecting with the people that you are trying to serve… and bring on fewer clients. Throwing another marketing tactic onto your business, will only act as a bandaid to the larger problem of not having a solid, intentional and personalized strategy for your business. I say this with love, because I’ve been there before too, but the people who you admire with well-running businesses, the ones that have their businesses working for them vs. them hustling to keep their businesses afloat, are the ones who have found a way to connect what they do, and with who they are. - @simplysunshineevents on Instagram

She said someone gave her some negative feedback about me and as such she deliberately refused to work with me and my company. I smiled. On many occasions in the past, I had acted in a similar way. I played God and judged people I knew nothing about, made wrong assumptions based off a few occurrences or other people’s shared experiences without even hearing the other side of the story and ended up struggling in an area I could have received help. Three years down the line, she says she is glad she had a rethink and gave me a chance. This happens alot even when making career changes. You judge a role or a company from afar without first getting enough information to make a proper judgement call. So many times, I have met candidates who turn their nose up at the prospect of working with an SME, when in actual fact that SME may very well be one of the best places to work. I am not saying we should ignore opinions or other people’s experiences but we must be willing to go the extra mile by giving a chance to prove the contrary and then make a judgement call by ourselves. I got to spend the whole day doing what I love, Styling! Started the day with a in person closet client then pivoted right into a virtual closet client. Created outfits all day with my clients own wardrobe! I can take one piece and make 5 looks minimum! It’s all about the Styling! It made me reflect that over ten years ago I took a chance and bet on myself! I knew I wanted to turn my gift of creativity into my livelihood when I was working on a fashion show for a magazine and it didn’t even feel like work, because I was finally doing something I loved I would did it for free because I enjoyed it sooo much. My day job was not giving me that feeling! I wanted more and that moment was when I finally decided to take the chance and learn what I needed to make my dreams my reality. I was able to turn my passion into profits and become a full time stylist having my work appear on Disney, VH1, MSNBC Fox etc and help others do the same. Its a personal development course based in cognitive neuroscience that helps you rewire your brain to be in line with your desires. Say what? 🧠⁣ ⁣ It turns out that we can, quite literally, actively shape our thought patterns and move them in the direction of our desires. ⁣ ⁣ For example, let’s say you’re scrolling on IG and see a fellow female whose post about her seemingly booming business makes you feel instant envy. With that envy, the areas of your brain that respond to pain are activated. ⁣ ⁣ In this way, that envy is a self-sabotaging behavior. Today is the last post in my 20’s (Birthday is tomorrow). It is quite bittersweet. I am stuck in between you have done a lot of amazing things sis and voices in my head saying you could’ve gone harder, fam. ⁣ ⁣ I understand the 20’s are a period of self-discovery of what you want the rest of your life to be and what you don’t want it to be —still trying to navigate through life and walking in my purpose of helping student-athletes through entrepreneurship. Ya girl has started medical school and cannot believe in 4-5 years, I’ll be responsible for the care of others. Feels good to be in a new environment and out of my comfort zone. When I was in school I was going to be a nurse. That was my dream job. Then I decided to be a midwife. That was my dream job! Then I worked in an ER (A&E) and then I wanted to become an ER nurse that was my dream job! Then I decided to study theology in the UK on a short course, met my husband while travelling in Northern Ireland and married him less than a year later. ✨ All my nursing aspirations were put on the back burner with every intention of going back to them. But then my visa didn’t let me work. But I had this hobby. I loved photography and my husband and parents all encouraged me to start offering portrait sessions. I started offering sessions at £20 and that was the start of it. I told myself I’d never shoot weddings but then my sweet friends Claire and Gary forced me (said so lovingly!) to shoot theirs. That was the day that changed everything. ✨ I never saw myself becoming a full time photographer. But it’s my dream job! I always wanted a job that was fulfilling. I leave every wedding and shoot feeling so full. It’s confirmation that I’m doing what I was designed to do. I love people and love. And I love being there for the biggest days of people’s lives. I get to stay home with my babies while still contributing to our finances. I’m doing my dream job although it was never a dream till now! [2nd pic of me in 1987 after my 1st surgery] Congenital heart defects affect people for their whole lives and there is no “fix”. 1 in 100 people in the USA are born with CHD. Here are just a few things that affect adults with CHD and are challenging at times: ♥️Insurance coverage with a pre-existing condition ♥️Life insurance coverage (still trying to get this!) ♥️Fertility + reproductive rights (the safe ways we can start a family) ♥️Diet + fitness limitations ♥️ Access to healthcare - less than 10% of adults with CHD get the care that they need ♥️Mental health — specifically anxiety/depression ♥️The effects of a chronic condition on your partner/family ♥️Caffeine since it’s also #NationalCoffeeDay ;) ♥️The future for all of us - many of us need pacemakers, medications, and even further down the line — transplants as adults. It is an unknown road that we are all navigating, and the more research we have to help us, the better. To do my part, I’m raising money for the @acha_heart which is a nationally accredited org I work with and contribute to as a writer. I heard this and fell and I started crying! . • 3 years ago today, I quit my job to focus to building my business and impact and it’s been such a journey since then. I had been in the same position for 5 years, no growth, nothing, even though I was working very hard. Infact, many thought I was very lucky because I was one of the few people who got a job at a multinational immediately after school, little did they know... But then, God said ‘MOVE’! When I look back, I’m thankful i was able to trust God and just do as He said. This was one tough decision especially because at the time, with normal eyes, I had no real reason to quit. I had 2 babies under 2. It was crazy! Next thing, first week into full time entrepreneurship, we got robbed at our new office... we were just unpacking, so we left our new laptops etc at work. As we got to work one morning, everything in the office was gone... And I said ‘Okay, Welcome to Entrepreneurship’... lol! I got so many promises and prophecies written down but nothing seemed like the prophecies I had... 2018 (my first year out) was like a whirlwind and to be honest I thought my world was crumbling. I was broke, shattered and confused... but in that state of confusion, I began to see some light... Many times, I questioned if I heard right about leaving, thought about going back to get a full time job, Infact, I went to some interviews, lol, but little by little, God kept me going! He sent me helpers Today, I’m so thankful for His grace and his kept promises! He has more than kept them! He has shown me what to do step by step, unmerited favor, sent me helpers, opened doors not because I’m good, but because he loves me enough to make me good! I know that this is the least I will ever be because He holds me in His palms! I’m excited as I walk into the next level of what He has in store for me. I wouldn’t trade the last 3 years for nothing! А знаете почему эта тема стала такой модной, и все кому не лень говорят свое мнение? ⠀ Потому что, в сети становится куча людей, которые вопреки общественному мнению, тому что это некрасиво и отвратительно, перестали бриться (причем везде: ноги, подмышки и др), являясь полными и ОЧЕНЬ полными намерено выставляют себя вульгарно и пошло, не скрывают месячные... ⠀ Не буду скрывать, я месяц думаю об этой теме, но написать этот пост не решалась. Но сегодня... ⠀ Мне не приятно смотреть на такой бодипозитив, но мне ПОФИГ... я просто не смотрю на таких людей, следовательно, я их и не вижу... ⠀ У меня все просто: не нравится? Не можешь смотреть на это? ⠀ НЕ СМОТРИ ⠀ Не надо с этим бороться и агресировать, лучшая борьба, это не быть против чего-то, а быть ЗА ЧТО-ТО... ⠀ Я выбираю другой БОДИПОЗИТИВ: ⠀ - где полная девушка, принимает свое тело и находит его красивым.
