Quiet (202) Technique: This is a photo in long exposure of real, breathing person on it. Single shot without photoshop stuff. Its called light painting technique and everything you can see is captured by my camera only. I did light traces effects by me moving LED lights in the air for a few minutes (sometimes less, sometimes more. When it comes to the oceans gelatinous creatures, the Portuguese man o war (Physalia physalis) is in a league of its own. Related to jellies, this drifter lacks a direct form of propulsion through the water. Instead, it floats passively in currents, with wind pushing on its inflated sail. Like its jellyfish relatives, Portuguese man o war are predatory. They use their long, toxic tentacles to capture and digest small fish. The toxins are delivered through microscopic harpoons on cellular springs that fire automatically at an incredibly fast rate when touched by fish...OR BY YOU!? Recently, Portuguese man o war have been observed washed up on local beaches. If you see them, keep a good distance, and keep pets away. Even if the animal is dead, its harpoons are capable of firing if touched, delivering a toxic sting. The home remedy for a modest sting is to rinse the wound with vinegar to remove any residual stingers or bits of tentacle left on the skin, followed by immersing the wound in hot water. #marinelife - @capecodnps on Instagram

Forever enamored and enthralled by the most natural things in life! I present to you: the Portuguese Man o’ War. They’ve been washing up on the East End all week. “The man-of-war comprises four separate polyps. It gets its name from the uppermost polyp, a gas-filled bladder, or pneumatophore, which sits above the water and somewhat resembles an old warship at full sail. Man-of-wars are also known as bluebottles for the purple-blue color of their pneumatophores. The tentacles are the man-of-wars second organism. These long, thin tendrils can extend 165 feet in length below the surface, although 30 feet is more the average. They are covered in venom-filled nematocysts used to paralyze and kill fish and other small creatures. For humans, a man-of-war sting is excruciatingly painful, but rarely deadly. But beware—even dead man-of-wars washed up on shore can deliver a sting. Muscles in the tentacles draw prey up to a polyp containing the gastrozooids or digestive organisms.
