‪We are over halfway through our Rocky Mountain Tour. If there is one thing this bike tour is teaching me it is that Colorado is by far one of the most rugged places to tour by bicycle. To tour here is to ride (and hike) steep, loose rocky and sometimes snowy terrain through temperatures that surge from the high 90’s one hour to a monsoon lightning storm the next. To tour here is to also revel in this states immense, diverse, and majestic beauty of granite peaks, fir forests, aspen groves, meandering rivers and creeks. Oregon and California wildfires scrubbed the agenda I had in mind so without a plan I navigated back toward @grandtetonnps. One amazing day hike (Lake of the Crags, 6mi RT, highly recommend) and a 3 night/42 mile pack trip later, my legs are jelly and my head is spinning. Amazing temps, spectacular fall colors and undescribable vistas. Wow. I navigated along the entire Teton Crest Trail and extended up the N Fork of Cascade Canyon, over Paintbrush Divide and out Paintbrush Canyon. Leadville 100,000 Feet Vertical Challenge done and done! Luckily I had mostly fresh air on the west side of San Bruno Mountain. I did not stay long on the Brisbane side as the air was very bad! The park was closed due to bad air quality as my original goal was to finish at the summit of SB Mountain. So I went with plan B and finished on the hill near my home where I have been racking up elevation for all these past weeks. Just over a month after the Pennine way La Sportiva ambassador John Kelly (@randomforestrunner ) is off again, this time on his Grand Round 2.0. The Grand Round will see John try to complete sub a 24hr Paddy Buckley, Bob Graham and Charlie Ramsey back to back whilst cycling between them. Kick off is today Sunday 16th at 11am starting in Wales with the Paddy Buckley. TAHOE SWIM CROSSING! 4:56:29 moving time. 5:50 total time. Stopped to eat/drink and enjoy the mountain views around Tahoe! Also had a fun pool party in the middle with @nesshartstein and @gabe_lewis who crewed the support Kayak. Couldnt have done it without those two and @kevinplaysoutside who ran shuttle! I had been training all summer for a swim/run that was cancelled and I didnt want that fitness to go to waste. Perfect day! The water was like glass for most of the way, water temps were perfect! WOULD YOU? 🥶 • • 1. Would you cross a glacier River in Alaska? 2. Would you do it naked? • • So before you answer… let me tell you what led up to this picture and what was involved. • • This was on the second day of my 40 km hike through Crow Pass in Alaska and I was told that there was a river crossing… BUT I did not know how big or deep it really was. • regardless… I was looking forward to it as I envisioned it being a highlight of my trip as an experience that only a few people in the world have done. • The excitement of the crossing started once we got to a flat level and you could begin to hear the river and feel the moisture in the air. • Once I got to the river… It was game on and I was the first cross .... I was excited! • • Looking at the river… And analyzing the river… You have no idea how deep it is and then you begin to debate… How much clothes do I keep on, what do I take off because having wet shoes and clothes in Alaska with no fire could be deadly!!! 😳 • • You might think to yourself… Andre I don’t think taking everything off was necessary .... well .... I was wearing water shoes 🤷‍♂️😂 • • I’m surprised @alexlvanmeter took such an amazing shot ... considering he likely had his eyes closed when he took it 😂😂😂😂 #allforthegram • • I’ll explain the experience… Walking in to the river excited and naïve was to my advantage… I didn’t know what to expect. • Yes I knew it was a glacier River and yes I knew it was cold and I knew the bottom would be rocky and slippery but that’s about it. • 1st step: not bad at all 4th step: feet are warm 7th step: burning cold 11th step: numbing 15th step: can’t feel anything I had no choice but to focus and take every step with precaution knowing that if you fall you are F**ked!!! • I volunteered to start a fire to warm people up once they crossed. • The most shocking thing out of this experience.... was the fact that by the time I dried my feet and put my socks and boots back on and started the fire… my feet were warm and I never needed to sit by the fire and heat them up. • • This trip was all about pushing my limits, physically and mentally and I definitely learned a lot about myself. would you ever? - @whatthefjall on Instagram

I posted probably a bazillion pics in my stories. @ryansch80 said there were just too many to look at at one time so he will look at the rest later. So not even he got through the whole story. 😂 I will just post one here. Sunset on our first night. We hiked for 2 more hours by headlamp. @lhazlett bonked. Went to a dark place but never complained once. The next day I told her it was 2ish miles to our next spot... I was off but over 4 miles. 🤷‍♀️ We relaxed the rest of the day by an alpine lake. The next day we hiked our longest with over 9 hours of carrying our packs. 🏔 Thanks for being a trooper and going backpacking with me, Laura. Throwback to hiking the Appalachian Trail in the winter as part of the Calendar Year Triple Crown. This may have been the one trail and adventure I set out on that I was truly way over my head. I am humbled and amazed by the support I’ve had from Thursday’s run and me sharing my domestic abuse story. I will be taking some time to respond to you all individually. Thank you! In terms of the run, I finished the 48-mile high camp loop in Yosemite in 10 hours and 55 minutes. When I ran this in 2014, I finished in 11:55. GAELFORCE WEST UPDATE It is with very heavy hearts that we are announcing Gaelforce West will not take place in 2020. Following the new government restrictions announced last night, which will be in place until the 13th September, it is no longer possible to run the event. While we feel the outdoors is the best place to be right now we have to follow government advice. We have been working tirelessly over the last number of weeks to plan for a new route that would have allowed us to run a safe, socially distanced event. All registered participants will be automatically transferred to Gaelforce West 2021 and will be emailed today with further details. 2020 has been a tough year. It has had wide reaching impacts across all communities, businesses, families and sectors of society. We are so thankful for the support and understanding we have received from you the racing community which will ensure that we are able to continue through this difficult time. Three days on the Slieve Bloom Way. This is an outstanding trail. The 70km trail brings you in and around the spectacular Slieve bloom mountains. We decided to add an extra 20km to see the south west region of the mountains. The entire area is a nature reserve, so you are treated to stunning waterfalls and rugged off road hiking. We were spoiled with great weather on our last day too. Es hat geregnet am Geisskopf das tut den Strecken gut. Nach dem vielen Arbeit aufgrund der TrailTrophy hat das Shape Team nun wieder Zeit, sich um die Streckenarbeiten zu kümmern. Seit Montag schon sind Jan und sein Team im Flow Trail. Die Löcher sind repariert und die Blätter beiseite gefegt. Bis Samstag sind nur ganz unten zwei Umleitungen vorhanden, denn über den Bereich wird das Stahlseil der neuen Sesselbahn gezogen. 🚵‍♂️🔥 👉Die nächsten Tage sind wieder trocken und vielfach sonnig. Das kommt wie gerufen! Wie Spaß! 👉Am Wochenende sind alle Strecken offen. 👉Nächste Woche kommen die anderen Strecken an die Reihe. 👉Der Bikepark ist noch bis 8. Dimanche dernier était loccasion de rendre hommage à notre ami Ivan Bizet décédé bien trop tôt durant le confinement... À linitiative de Christian Malbo, nous nous sommes retrouvés sur les pentes du Lioran entre potes pour un Run en Off. Quelques coureurs de léquipe de France (Sylvain, Julien, Fabien...), ainsi que des amis proches étaient présents. Une spéciale Ivan comme il les affectionnait si bien, à savoir 1k500 avec 500D+ et sur 2 manches pour faire durer le plaisir ! We are all smiles after @sarahall3 had a great last big threshold yesterday to finish the bulk of her training for @londonmarathon . Sara is in her element amongst Crested Butte’s fall turning aspens at 9,000ft. We are grateful for a healthy and successful buildup. Now the taper begins! I’m learning to embrace the delicate balance in running between data and mystery, between science and art, between being performance driven and journey focused. The data from this buildup shows Sara has improved her threshold by 4 seconds per mile compared to her buildup for @berlinmarathon when she ran 2:22. The mystery is that these thresholds were all done at 1,000 ft. higher elevation (roughly 7,000 at Flag and roughly 8,000 outside of Crested Butte) and on a “turny” 1.3 mile loop courses to simulated a less “turny” London marathon course. So, does that mean she is 5 or even 6 seconds per mile faster on her thresholds now? What is she capable of running at the London marathon? The last picture in this sequence pretty much perfectly answers how I am feeling about these questions 😂. Regardless of how the race plays out, I am super proud of Sara for training so hard and diligently through this COVID season with kiddos in the house 24/7 and making yet another big step of improvement in her fitness in this buildup. I’ll be content no matter what happens in London because God is good all the time and results are just fun icing on the cake with this in mind. My final night wild camping on the Pembrokeshire Coast Path. I pitched my tent in the most remote section of the path, north of Newport. I managed to take this picture just before the sun disappeared into the sea. It was the most perfectly still evening, so much so that when I lay in my tent that night I couldn’t fall asleep at first because the silence was so eerie. Not even the canvas on my tent was ruffling and I was too far above the sea to hear the swash of the waves. Unfortunately, in my haste to pitch my tent before dark, I laid it in a dip which caused my mat to slope down to the left corner, pushing me against the side. Still despite this discomfort I felt strangely sad about this being my last night camping. It’s been a phenomenal couple of weeks on the Welsh Coast. Tomorrow I walk the final 10 miles into St Dogmaels and complete the 186 miles route of the National Trail’s Pembrokeshire Coast Path. - @walk_wild_ on Instagram

Trail du Besso. @trailsdubesso ⛰️🇨🇭 46km 3750m+/- 5h28 🥉 . Une belle balade sur un parcours raccourci mais tout sauf ridicule! Après 1h30 à jouer devant je dois laisser filer les 2 asticots @mikeaigroz et @valbnr 💪! Après 3h de course japerçois encore la casquette orange de Valentin dans les lignes droites mais je dois petit à petit me résoudre à me battre pour éviter de quitter le podium plutôt quà aller chercher devant... Ce sera chose faîte malgré le déficit de force dans les dernières montées sûrement dû à un manque de fraîcheur après 3 semaines de stage en altitude et la difficulté de lever le pied quand on est dans des cadres dentraînement idylliques. Au final une course correcte avec des bonnes sensations en descente quand même! 😊 . Bravo à lorganisation et merci aux bénévoles davoir géré des conditions pas évidentes du tout! 🌧️❄️🌡️ . Dass der Sommer kein normaler wird, ist uns allen bewusst, aber wenn ein Rennen überhaupt möglich ist, dann möchten wir allen Teilnehmern sowie sportbegeisterten Zuschauern einen sicheren und vor allem freudigen Tag mit viel Spaß in der freien Natur gewährleisten können. Aktuell sind wir noch guter Hoffnung, dass wir am 01. August unser Event planmäßig durchführen können, allerdings haben wir uns für eine definitive Entscheidung einen Zeitpunkt Ende Mai/Anfang Juni gesetzt und hoffen, bis dahin mehr Klarheit in Sachen der weltweiten Corona-Pandemie sowie Infos von Behörden zu etwaigen Auflagen und Reisebeschränkungen zu haben. Im Moment sind leider keine seriösen Aussagen möglich, was sich bis August noch ändert und in welchem Rahmen Sportveranstaltungen überhaupt möglich sind. ENDURO/ALL MOUNTAIN O ALL Mountain(enduro) é a modalidade que fica entre os dois extremos do Cross-Country e Downhill: nem tão extenuante e focada na parte física quanto o XC, nem tão extrema e específica quanto o DH. O praticante de All Mountain tem uma bike que aguenta umas descidas e fazer uns saltos de vez em quando, ao mesmo tempo que não tem que descer e empurrar sempre em qualquer subida. É uma modalidade que vem ganhando popularidade no Brasil e no mundo pela versatilidade: você pode fazer um pouco de tudo, mesmo que não seja especialmente bom em nada. Existe um pouco de discussão nisso, mas Enduro é a versão competitiva do All Mountain. Se no AM o objetivo é o pedal recreativo, ter uma bicicleta que você pode brincar de tudo, o Enduro é a competição de bike que envolve trechos de Downhill com trechos de pedal em retas e subidas. Normalmente, nessas provas se cronometra apenas os trechos de DH, e há apenas um tempo limite a ser vencido entre uma descida e outra. Claro, que como o foco é competição, a tendência é abrir um pouco mão do conforto para focar em leveza e performance. it’s been a while! since then, I’ve been busy with school work, editing films and personal development figuring what I really want. I was going through some personal barriers & needed space which meant taking some time off posting on social media. After what had happened in early-mid 2017, I was always reminded of it every now and then which sometimes negatively affected my life. There was always flashbacks and battles to overcome internally from it and I had always tried to push it away but it never worked. Until recently in June/July, I hit rock bottom and was stuck in a black hole not knowing where to begin and what to do to get out of it. As of right now, I am progressively growing away from it but have a lot to consider with what I actually value, what current involvements aligns with me and what opportunities are offered to start right now. Moving forward, I truly want to thank those who helped me through the tough time and stuck with me supporting this journey. One key takeaway is to be true to yourself and follow your own path. - Thru Hiking

So good! Vol Bivy, Fly Camping yesterday from Golden, BC, the most magical form of paragliding for me. Sometimes dreams dont have to be big, just things youve always wanted to do but never have. The freedom to land my paraglider in the Alpine, spend the evening exploring a cool place and a night listening to nothing, then continue flying the next day is a recurring dream I have, but dont do enough. There are always excuses for not doing something; not enough time, conditions not perfect, fear of bears, commitments... But I have never regretted the times Ive tried and made something cool happen. Ive flown by Flat Top Mountain outside of Golden a bunch over the last 25 years, and always thought, Ive got to camp there one day and explore that place! but never did it... I launched from Mt. 7 with food for a couple of days, a First Light tent, stove, a sleeping bag, and my Gin Explorer. It was late, kinda stable, and most pilots had given up on the day as a result. I got high enough to glide over the Kicking Horse River and climb out on the cliffs of Flat Top, and the alpine meadows up there and the evening light said, land up here now! I scoped a nice ridge with a snowbank for water, and landed gently in the smooth evening air. The Explorer is perfect for this kind of mission; it goes well, is light, and launches easily. A few minute later I had the tent up, and went exploring. The photos tell the story really, just an awesome place with not one other person! I even found a neat little boudlering area and sessioned it a bit. I alway sleep well on my glider in a tent, and after an insane sunset I woke up 10 hours later when the tent overheated. I never sleep like that at home, but theres nothign to do until the morning thermals start working on the east-facing slopes so sleept comes easy. I had a committing but smooth launch into nice morning lift, and continued on my way. It wasnt the raddest Vol Bivy flight Ive ever done (the trip @gavinmcclurg and I did down the Rockies wins that!), but it was local, beautiful, and all that I love in paragliding. Very psyched to announce I passed the ACMG Rock guide exam!! This has been a long term goal of mine, and my second attempt. After struggling with health issues and heavy exam stress on the first go around it took a lot to muster up the courage to try again. What a learning experience it has been! It was a very physical week especially with smoke everyday, but the crux was the head game for sure. Which wasn’t a surprise. The self imposed pressure was huge. “You better not fail this exam again Ian!” Keeping the self-doubt and anxiety at bay and staying confident, calm and focused was key. As some of my friends and my partner can attest to I’ve been a stress case with this exam looming, it has been a weight on my shoulders. I recognize that I am extremely privileged for the opportunity to be pursuing this path during this difficult time for so many. I am full of immense gratitude for all the support from my friends and family and mentors throughout this process over the years. Thank you thank you thank you!! Tim and I’s Council to Nome run is this Saturday, and the weather looks perfect. The tender mercies of the Lord continues to shine on me during these long runs. It can be uncomfortable, and you won’t see it all at once, but it is an important reminder of the ways in which power and privilege shapes the world around us. Humans are deeply connected to land, and the fact that I live on stolen indigenous land is not lost on me. Nor is the fact that the mountains I hiked today are named after the USA’s founding fathers, many of whom owned and supported slavery, and waged wars against the Native Americans. The “outdoor community” is ignoring representation from Black, Indigenous, people of color, and it shows. Still, this is only one small part of the problem and we as a country have a whole lot to learn. The weMove annual trip looked a little different this year. We usually move over to the US for a couple of weeks but thats a little unreliable at the moment, and we had another offer to film @thenaturallifestylist run the 3 Peaks Challenge from Snowdon to Ben Nevis via Sca Fell Pike. Its approx 450 miles and this time in under 10 days. Last year he ran 900miles in 30 days. Watching someone attempt to cover distances of 50 miles per day whilst being a parent, partner and everything else was super interesting, sometimes unappealing as Tony had to dig himself out of deep holes of despair physically and mentally. But watching him be a dad whilst all that was going on was for me the inspiring element of the journey. You become close in adversity and being around for him to keep him going, makes a bond stronger. I think he is mad as a box of frogs, but am waiting for his message to say that he had another crazy idea! Sometimes you just need to throw a long bomb. Going solo and self supported into the northern woods of New Hampshire made for one of the longest days I’ve ever spent on two wheels. Most of it was overgrown snowmobile trails so the moving slow and full of surprises. It was also the maiden voyage on my @santacruzbicycles highball which performed flawlessly thanks to the quick tune up from @tomtenbiketown. The @theblackbibs kept me riding comfy all day. Au sommet de la Punta Basei, Parc national du Gran Paradiso. Hier on vous montrait une photo des lacs durant la montée et aujourdhui place à une petite galerie du sommet 😍 Des beaux points de vue dans les Alpes on en a déjà vu plein, mais je crois bien que celui-ci rentre aisément dans notre top 3 des plus beaux! La Punta Basei est un sommet à 3328m et comme il est relativement isolé on a une vue incroyable à 360°. Depuis là-haut on a bien évidemment le grand paradis et ses 4061m face à nous mais on aperçoit également très bien limpressionnant Mont Blanc et tout son massif 🤩 La particularité de cette rando? Elle est vraiment accessible! Seule une partie de la montée depuis le col du Nivolet est un peu raide (mais équipée de câbles) mais tout le reste est vraiment facile! Les 30 derniers mètres jusquau sommet sont plus sport dirons-nous et tiennent davantage de la petite via ferrata que de la rando... I veri eroi non si fermano mai e quelli di Mountain Mates non si smentiscono. Dopo lescursione al Canto Alto, abbiamo deciso di replicare e di puntare al Lago del Coca passando per l’omonimo rifugio 🏔. Dopo il ritrovo allalba allEdonè, i nostri impavidi ragazzi hanno preso la via verso Valbondione🚁 dove si sono incamminati lungo la ripida salita 📈 che porta verso il Rifugio Coca. Nonostante il tasso di umidità presente allinterno del bosco, le fatiche della settimana e il sole che faceva a tratti capolino fra le velature, i nostri eroi sono giunti al Coca Merelli 🏠facendo una breve pausa prima di risalire sino alle acque limpide e trasparenti del laghetto posto ai piedi del Pizzo Coca. Dopo un breve pranzo frugale, i cinque giovani si sono lasciati alle spalle la più alta vetta dellOrobie nascosta fra le nubi, completando così la discesa e raggiungendo nuovamente la sede di partenza 📉, carichi per una nuova esperienza🔥. I have had my fondest memories on public lands, especially on the peaks of North Carolina’s Pisgah National Forest.⠀ ⠀ As a young girl I was in awe of mountains — partially due to the fact that I grew up in swampy Florida, where there are no mountains in sight. I recall flipping through several National Geographic magazines and falling in love with the images of mountain peaks across the globe. Something about the expansive countryside and towering peaks captivated my imagination at a young age.⠀ ⠀ It was not until I got into college that I really got into outdoor recreation, particularly backpacking and trail running, thanks to my university outdoor program. It gave me the opportunity to come together with students from diverse backgrounds, who shared my same love for exploring our public lands. My favorite memory is summiting Mount Mitchell, the highest peak in Pisgah National Forest and highest peak east of the Mississippi River.⠀ ⠀ The Pisgah National Forest has allowed for me and many others to experience peace, gratitude and appreciation for public lands, whether it is through summiting peaks, swimming under the many waterfalls or biking through the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway. Public lands are vital to not only our physical and mental health, but for preserving ecosystems and wildlife.⠀ ⠀ My love for the mountains as a young girl grew into my passion for advocating and protecting our public lands today. I believe it is important to protect what you enjoy so future generations will be able to experience them, creating their own memories.⠀ ⠀ That’s where the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) comes in. It has helped support the Pisgah National Forest along with thousands of other cherished landscapes across the country. The U.S. Senate has just voted to permanently fund LWCF. The House is expected to follow suit in July. Never believe nay-sayers because even YOU don’t know your own limitations! At the beginning of this year I had never hiked more than a dozen miles in a day and I had very few hiking clothes — they were mostly heavy mil-spec items. Yet I started hiking multiple times a week and testing out different gear and by late-Spring I regularly hit 20+ mile days and eventually a 35 mile day!
