Thereby being mainly fascinated by the idea of finding his personal way of expression by creating letterings. His letterings equal complicated mechanical constructions and often appear to be complex machines. N.O.Madski, being a purist, defines the inherent esthetics as what makes his works be what they are. It becomes clear, that N.O.Madski has long left the typical discourse of the scene and has broken through the given limits of subculture. This piece was created in the beginning of quarantine.. and has come to be relevant in more ways than I had initially envisioned. It has been hard to put words down over the past few months. We went from a complete lockdown and experiencing the world shutting down and slowing down for the first time in history to exposing the incalculable chaos within our country and judiciary system. During quarantine it felt like we were recognizing the singularity between all humans. Your followers didnt matter, your money didnt matter, your occupation didnt matter. What came to light directly after made me realize that there are still tyrannical institutions of division. Injustice for colored races, and people of lower income have existed for decades. There is hope that true equality can be created (not restored as equality has not been something that truly existed, personally) There is always a silver lining in the darkness. I feel that this is a time to unite together to focus on positive change that can be implemented into a system to create a better future. It starts with each and every single person and ripples out with each person we connect with. I am not sure exactly how to create the change you wish to see. But I do know that recognition is the first step. And where we can start is how we treat one another. Be safe and respect each other. . . . Na ultima semana, um exercicio do @design_ufpel_pandemia era fazer uso das redes, suas conexões e impactos que podem ter dentro da cibercultura. Pensei no que eu poderia falar sobre a pandemia e no que eu aprendi e nas lições que tiro dela e essas baboseiras, mas percebi que não tem muito o que ser dito. Semana passada morreram 100.000 pessoas pela irresponsabilidade do estado. Em tipografia simples, cada um desses pontos finais, formam 44 páginas escritas. Isso ignorando as pessoas enlutadas por cada ponto desses, que formam de 6 a 10 pessoas por cada um. Se contassemos, seriam 264 páginas de pontos finais com cada uma dessas pessoas, vitimadas ou enlutadas. Her recent exhibitions include the Whitney Biennial and the Toronto Biennale of Art 2019. Monnet uses visual and media arts to communicate complex ideas around Indigenous identity and bicultural living through the examination of cultural histories. Her work is often minimalistic while emotionally charged, and speaks to layered experiences of Indigenous peoples today – her recent body of work grapples with colonialism’s impact, updating outdated systems with Indigenous methodologies. Using contemporary building materials, and incorporating patterns transmitted across generations, Monnet creates hybrid objects respectful of tradition and alert to change. Friends & Family of The 8x10, Wow things got really crazy real quickly, didn’t they? You know what this is about, so I will try to keep this short. The government is currently ordering our shutdown for at least 8 weeks. At this point, we have had to cancel 27 shows so far. This is an unmanageable situation. The 8x10’s rent alone, for two months is $20,000. There may be relief down the line for The 8x10, but insurance has already told us this event is not covered, so we are going to have to fight to get anything at all. Our main concern right now is our employees. We have set up this fundraiser to contribute to their financial needs while we are closed. We are asking for your help. We have created a VENMO account for donations. We chose VENMO due to the fact that if you link your account to a debit card, there is no fee to make a donation. If you decide to link to a credit card the fee is only 3%. VENMO is the platform that will get the most possible percentage of your money to the cause. If everyone who loves The 8x10 can contribute just a little, many hands make light work and we can hopefully keep our staff out of financial trouble by accepting modest donations from many people. We know you are getting hit by this meltdown too. If you are in position to donate a few bucks, it would go a long way to keeping The 8x10 in the position to reopen exactly like it was pre-C0VID-19.
