The picture of a dream come true ๐ For as long as I can remember I would drive by an empty building and imagine it as a dance studio. No matter where we were - a shopping center, an empty building wherever I was and however young I was, if I saw an empty space, I dreamed what it would be like as a dance studio! But never did I imagine weโd be in three spaces in three years. Yet, when we sat around the table New Yearโs Day reminiscing about his late grandfather, it was clear Russโ grandfatherโs dentist office could indeed be a dance studio. We closed on it the week COVID began, which we laughed about - only in Godโs timing - and here we are scrambling to finish and thanking our friends and family daily for their willingness to pitch in yet again. This dream God planted in my heart still brings tears to my eyes and as we prayed with the kids tonight, I specifically thanked Him that Russ and I BOTH get to live our dreams and our passions. Hi fans! During this unique time, we have taken extreme precautions and have stayed on top of the state regulations that seem to change at a moments notice. Our live music is not incidental we always want to support our local musicians and other small businesses but after much discussion with county health officials and community members we have made the decision to close down our Open Barns/Live Music Sundays for the remainder of the season.ย As a small business, we just canโt take the risk of being shut down or having our license suspended. We are still open daily for tastings we are just suspending our live music Sundays here at the barn. We hope this will be over soon and we can resume live music for next year. I was in the North Shore Today and happened to drive by the location of where I took my very first BJJ class in late June of 2006. It was in the basement of an Art Gallery in Danvers, MA. I was very nervous standing in front of the door to go in and almost turned around. I remember thinking, donโt be a pussy, just open the door. When I walked downstairs I was met by @dannymorera the owner of @northshorebjj. It was an amazing experience and I canโt thank him and his team enough for that. A few days later I was in Las Vegas for a vacation and on the flight home I sat next to none other than @danawhite. I was hardly an MMA fan, I didnโt even know Danaโs name, just that he ran the UFC. I imagine I was super annoying, I was telling him how I did Jiu Jitsu now and talked his ear off about it for about 5 hours. He told me I needed to see an MMA show live, and that if I did I would be hooked. By the end of the flight he had set me up with tickets to UFC 61 the following weekend and even said he would leave me tickets to the after party. I was pretty stoked. The next weekend I flew back to Vegas and there was an envelope with my name on it at will call that had tickets to the fight, no after party tickets though. Dana was right, seeing the event live made me instantly fall in love with MMA. I do believe everything happens for a reason and often think of how happy I am that I opened the door and went down the stairs that day. Had I not, I probably wouldnโt have had anything to talk to Dana about and wouldnโt have been invited to that show. Had that not happened I would probably still be sitting at a desk in the tech world miserable AF and living for the weekends. I know this is long winded but the moral of the story is to trust your gut and open those doors, because you never know where they will lead and how they can shape your life. Also, when you donโt get the tickets to the after party, donโt complain. Opened in 2012, @millwrightsrestaurant provides a spectacular backdrop to the dining experience, speaks of history and nature. The Hop Brook Mill, built in 1680 and now Millwrightโs home, overlooks a sparkling pond and rushing waterfall, visible from the dining room and the deck. In 1679 The Village of Simsbury entered into a contract with Thomas Barber, Ephriam Howard, John Moses, and John Terry, to erect a grist and sawmill on Hop Brook. The partners agreed to keep the mills in good repair, to grind grain for the tolls allowed by law, and to sell to the inhabitants boards at four and six pence per hundred. In consideration of which, the town allowed them the mill privileges, the right to take. Chef/Owner Tyler Anderson feels a kinship with the millwrights who built and maintained the millโs machinery to refine lumber and process grains for the townspeople. Yesterday I had the moving experience of meeting Marie, who was one of the Queensland Ambulance Paramedicโs who treated me on the day of my injury. Marie was one of four Paramedics who stabilized me at Ballymore before transferring me to hospital, she recalled the moment in great detail much of which Iโve never heard. To say Iโm thankful and grateful seems insignificant because no words can explain the feelings you have towards someone who has saved your life. Thank god we went for coffee in public because I wouldโve been a blubbering mess otherwise! Thanks to Marie and all the other incredible Paramedics out there doing amazing work. #OTD in 1863, Frederick Gutekunst took this picture of John Burns at his Gettysburg home. John Burns was an elderly citizen of Gettysburg on July 1, 1863 that grabbed a musket and fought with the 150th Pennsylvania near the McPherson Farm and then with the 7th Wisconsin at the edge of the Herbst Woodlot. During the Union retreat, he was wounded and lay on the battlefield until early July 2. Union Lieutenant Frank Haskell, also present for the battle, wrote of his brief contact with Burns. I saw John Burns, the only citizen of Gettysburg who fought in the battle, and I asked him what troops he fought with. He said: O, I pitched in with them Wisconsin fellers. I asked what sort of men they were, and he answered: They fit terribly. Secaucus Fire Department had a Occupant Enter Engine Co. 1 Quarters today at 13:35 hours. The Occupant had 2 Rings to be removed. Engine Co. 1 Removed the first ring with the Rubber Band and Soap technique. The 2nd Ring was harder to remove because of the occupants swollen finger. Engine Co. 1 had Rescue Co. 1 Respond to there quarters along with Car.1 and Deputy. 1. Rescue Co. 1 utilized the Dremel Saw Technique to cut and remove the 2nd Ring. Great Job by both units. Recently welcomed home three IGP participants (Nicholas, Mark, and Daniel)! Both Gunner and Arnold (IGPs extraordinary Reentry Coordinators) drove to the prisons in the early morning meeting each one at the gate, brought them out for a warm meal, and provided them with welcome home reentry kits. . Along this journey we are experiencing the highs that come when you witness family reunification and the joy of freedom.
