Every year here at the Reeve Foundation, we use this day to celebrate the legacy of his work and look for opportunities to make his dream of a world of empty wheelchairs a reality. Christopher Reeve put a human face on spinal cord injury and had an unrelenting drive to pursue the best research in the world. It was his vision, his passion, and his brilliance that has attracted scientists to take on the cause and advance the field of spinal cord research. He created a culture of hope...and it was contagious. Thanks to his fierce determination, we have entered the most exciting and promising era for research with breakthroughs in the lab that are now being translated into treatments that will rapidly improve the quality of life for the community we serve. As we celebrate Christopher Reeves birthday, lets celebrate that his dream -- a world of empty wheelchairs -- is now within our reach and he would be so proud.
