I recently had someone comment on a post of mine that I’m a “trump supporter”, which led to her unfollowing me, direct messaging me, posting stories about me, etc...#cancelculture 🤦♂️ Claims that I don’t care about the planet and claims I’m “fascist”. Mind you, this assumption was based on a post raising awareness against human trafficking & child slavery. But, because there were people in the background who share different political views, I was automatically lumped into a group and put into a box. When in actuality, one could easily scroll my feed and get a firm idea of what I stand for.... which is free thinking and self accountability. Sustainable living, community, self love, respect, integrity, honor, compassion, & changing the world through business and positive leadership. No where on my feed will you find political ideologies shifting my perspective and closing people off because their opinion might be different than mine, that’s ludacris. I have friends from all sorts of different backgrounds, cultures, political views, etc. I love then all equally. Now, if this woman would have simply asked a question or started a conversation, we could have gotten somewhere. Instead, her assumptions and finger pointing got no where, which is the exact opposite of the issues she’s fighting for... this is not progressive. Let’s elevate the way we approach others and stop putting people into a box based on who their family members are, who their friends are, and who’s in the background of a picture. Do you like jar packaging? 🍯⠀ ⠀ Jars have a bad reputation, but theyre not as bad as theyre made out to be!⠀ ⠀ Active ingredients arent useless if they come in jars! Most are stable enough to handle jar packaging. Even if theyre light or air sensitive, if the product is formulated carefully, the actives can be stabilised. The thickness and opacity of the product can also protect the actives (except in the very top layer). ⠀ ⠀ During formulation, the way normal consumers use products is kept in mind - that means with jars, the product will be formulated to handle repeated opening and closing of the jar, and grubby fingers dipping in. ⠀ ⠀ I personally prefer pumps for the convenience, but theres a certain satisfaction in digging a pastey product out of a jar with a finger! A scary reality.... ————— Every year during the holidays I’ve become increasingly more mindful about our world and the footprint I’m leaving. For the past two years I purchased all of my gifts from fair trade sources or from companies that are giving back (I encourage you to do this!) This year I want to focus on gifts that give experiences, such as a gift card for a nice restaurant, a gift card to a spa, money to pay for a babysitter for a date night. I want to challenge myself this year to give less STUFF and more EXPERIENCES. **I also want to say that I am still a strong believer in purchasing from companies that are doing good. This is just my challenge for the year, but I encourage others to just be MINDFUL while making holiday purchases this year. Stay tuned! 😉 1️⃣ Niacinamide helps protect your skin from environmental stressors while soothing redness and inflammation. It is a powerful acne fighter without over drying (anyone else a product of using harsh benzoyl peroxide/rubbing alcohol to dry up acne that was even more agitated from the “help” of these?) 2️⃣ Salicylic Acid works by dissolving the keratin and dead skin cells blocking your pores (like those stubborn blackheads). A little goes a long way. See how your skin reacts to once/day use. 3️⃣ Exfoliate. This is a personal preference, but I usually recommend chemical exfoliants over physical for the main reason that it’s more easily tolerated for most skin types. However, if you have acne, do not use physical exfoliators (!!). Physical exfoliants can be harsh on our skin and with excess rubbing it can spread bacteria and irritate the inflammation causing our acne. Chemical exfoliants are gentler in their approach and this one specifically is easily tolerated by even sensitive skin types, yes still extremely effective. If you are sensitive/dry/combo- I would recommend this product over #2 4️⃣ Dandelion Root might be my *favorite* internal product to recommend to my clients who struggle with any type of inflammation (acne, dermatitis, etc.). Dandelion Root has been mentioned to increase the production of new skin cells. It is also rich in anti-oxidants, detoxifying properties, and vitamins C, A, E and many minerals. 1.You body does not stop working after 8pm. If you are hungry, EAT. Your body is using ENERGY even when you sleep. 2. This is such a broad statement. What about smoothies and juices? What about drinkable yogurts? We know soda and sugar sweetened beverages can be detrimental to our health if used too often, but when I see the word “never” I get mad because this creates fear. 3. Poor bananas and carrots, they absolutely do not deserve this. While these foods contain carbohydrates and natural sugars, it would take a HUGE amount to have the same effect as a candy bar (which I have literally seen them compared too…) These foods have fiber and vitamins and minerals. Please please do not avoid them. They are health promoting foods. 4. Unless you are a nutrition scientist there are going to be some foods you cannot pronounce. Just because you cannot pronounce it and do not know what it means does not mean that it is bad. And remember, eating food free of chemicals is literally IMPOSSIBLE.
